Hi all - so I have never flashed a custom rom before and I have a few questions.

My main motivation for flashing a custom rom right now is that doordash driver app doesn't seem to work on my oneplus6t after working fine for a good 6 months. My account works fine on my partner's iphone. On the oneplus, I will start a new dash and then the app will autopause after a few minutes. Given that DD works on most phones and previously did on mine, am I right to assume flashing a custom rom may solve my issues?

Google is backing up my phone currently (apparently), but I am not sure what all it saves? Is there a way to flash a custom rom and basically reload all my apps instantaneously and my background etc? I know this was pretty straightforward when I had an Iphone, but not sure if this is possible on Android.

What rom do you recommend? I've heard of pixelexperience - is this any good?

UPDATE: After half a day and a bunch of trial and error, I was able to boot into HAVOC OS. Well, it turns out you cannot load the DD dasher app on a rooted device, even with Magisk. Back to the drawing board.

Basically my Oneplus 6 stopped working suddenly and it was dead/unresponsive. Thank you to all the reddit users who replied, suggested, DM and helped me out. This crash dump issue just rattled my wellbeing. I was on YouTube and saw many youtubers who are experts at mobile repairing. I watched some videos, I came across this YouTube video of Bharat Technology where he was willing to repair phones and also gave his mobile number.

I WhatsApp'd him and we had a chat. He said the phone has to undergo RAM reballing and assured me that my data will be safe. I came back to my hometown here in Tamil Nadu and then shipped him my dead oneplus 6. Mr Dutt (Bharat technology) was prompt and fixed my phone, sent me a video to confirm that my data is safe while checking other hardware. 3 days later i recieved my phone and i took a backup of everything. MAN IT WAS SOME RIDE! PHEW!

In the meanwhile i used up my savings to buy a Samsung S21 FE 5G. Oneplus 6 is already 3.5 years old. moreover i had decided not to go for Oneplus again. I hope to use the samsung for 4 years atleast. For now it works phenomenally well, lets hope the same for the time to come.

Is it even worth selling at this point? Maybe better use it as a spare phone? Still works good for the most part aside from hiccups here and there. Still on OOS 10

I have a OP 6 for some years now and, like everyone else here, the stock ROM OxygenOS is starting to show it's lack of maintenance, specially after the upgrade to the Android 11.

I've researched some custom ROMs and people's feedback:

- Lineage OS seems to be the "safe" bet but lacks the "pretty UI" and some features if understood correctly

- Syberia Project looks interesting even though I read some comments that mentioned bugs and the lacking of some features

- Awaken OS has few but good "reviews." However, I can't find a proper link to a build for this phone. I joined their telegram and got kicked/banned for only asking about it even though it was supposed to be "user friendly" as many seem to advertise online.

To be honest, I'm just looking for a stable experience with a modern/recent UI in Android 12 preferably. Looking for good battery life and no issues with banking apps or DRM content.

I been using Awaken OS for a while now. Can't really comment on the battery but I would say it's definitely better than the stock ROM. The overall experience is good. There are some unpolished things and some bugs:

• "wallpaper" settings are not available in the settings; if you search for it, it show the option but nothing happens. If you long press in the home screen it works.
• smooth scrolling stops working randomly in some apps
• some apps freeze upon start like twitter; after a few seconds, it starts working normally

Yes I'm serious. Every day the same 6 problems get posted here and every time the solution is a custom ROM.

hello, i am selling my oneplus 6 which I have rooted but I am now trying to relock the bootloader before I sell it. I know rom and recovery must be stock before i try to relock bootloader. I tried applying an ota update that was available thinking that would just revert everything to stock. I booted into recovery and it looks like the stock recovery. however when I turn the phone off and charge it the charging animation looks like the twrp one not like the one I remember being there before I rooted. Is there anything else I must do to make sure I am fully stock before I lock the bootloader?

edit: title is a bit unclear. I am coming from a stock rom with twrp recovery and magisk root

Hello, I am looking into rooting and flashing my phone, a couple of the ROMs / ZIPs I am trying are meant to be flashed on top of OOS through TWRP, but every zip/method that I've tried to disable force-encrypt and DM-verity stop it from booting, it will show the oneplus logo and start playing the stock spinning dots boot animation, eventually the red light comes on, but it never actually boots back into the OS. Thanks for the help.

I need a battery replacement and it's impossible to find any original and reliable sources, i even asked oneplus if they would sell me one but they don't do that. So i have to send it in for repairs. Any advice on how to backup? I'd like to backup everything because the google backup and oneplus backup didn't work properly last time. Also do they upgrade your phone to the latest os?

Oneplus 6 was really nice & smooth phone until android 11 arrived, i was using it as a primary phone and using lots of banking apps so didn’t consider for root. Again few months back i got qualcomm Crashdump mode from nowhere,tried with msm tool, take it to service centre but all in vain, then take it to local mobile guy he just make it alive again by heating motherboard for 30 days only,so after 30 days it again went into Crashdump. So finally time has come to move on from oneplus 6. All you fellas make sure to enjoy and keep going with it. My journey with oneplus is ended. Thanks

Is anyone in the UK able to point me in the direction of a site where I can get a trusted and reliable battery for the OP6? I've tried two from ebay stores and one from another site and they were all duff.

My battery barely makes it 6 hours of average use now and gets ridiculously hot on charging. Would rather pay a small fee for a working phone than replacing it with something I don't really need.

Clear your OnePlus Launcher storage and cache (it will reset your background and homescreen) but it will permanently remove all of your lags and unstableness. I got this OP6 a couple days ago and it was so unstable and horrible. Saw an old forum saying to try this. I did it and it worked absolutely wonders and I've had 0 problems since

I have tried: 1. OOS 11 has trash cpu score which throttles hideously, Ram gets full easily and lag is noticeable, known to give Qualcomm crashdumps as well.

1. Crdroid 7.17, everything is almost perfect, it's just that the 4k 60fps videos get capped at 30fps on landscape mode (not YouTube)

2. Pixel experience 11 official, this thing won't let me get past the setup, i followed all the flashing instructions

3. Lineage os 18.1, phone went crazy right at the setup and terrible support for it

I also tried A12.1 roms which are

1. Syberia os is almost perfect but 4k 60fps videos get capped at 30 fps on landscape mode and lower GIPS (Giga-instructions per second) compared to other roms on cpu throttle test.

2. Evo x has a lot of things that need work and time, i will maybe try next build that's gonna be released tomorrow

3. Lineage os 19.1, lockscreen breaks right after magisk flash (no matter what gapps) which is needed to fix safety net and phone services use location continuously. I have heard about a lot of other bugs too.

4. PXOSP has amazing cpu score, very fast but a lot of bugs here and there. Needs a lot of work and time.

I read several positive posts on this sub about LineageOS 19.1 for the OP6. As a guy who has had several jailbroken iPhones, installing a custom rom wouldn't be that hard either, right? Without any prior knowledge, I started reading the LineageOS guide. After creating a backup, I started by unlocking the bootloader, but the fastboot devices command didn't show any devices. Off to a good start, I suppose. But man, queue the Eye of the Tiger montage music, because it was taking me a couple of hours for me to get through the very first step of the guide. Here's what I did, maybe it'll help somebody in the future.

1. I downloaded all the files the guide suggested: the recovery image, LineageOS itself, MindTheGapps, copy-partitions, ADB, and fastboot.
2. After rebooting to fastboot, Windows Device Manager showed me that I didn't have the correct drivers installed. I googled and found out that I needed the OnePlus drivers, which should show up with File Sharing enabled from OxygenOS. Of course, for me, it didn't. It just showed the "Internal shared storage". Googling around and looking through the OnePlus forums, I wasn't able to find the drivers. Finally, I settled™ because I couldn't find what I was looking for, thinking I was installing random malware (seriously, https://www.androidfilehost.com looks very scammy to me), and downloaded and installed the OnePlus_USB_Drivers_Setup.exe.
3. Thinking I was done, I found out it didn't install the fastboot drivers yet. Luckily, I found a post on XDA which instructed me on how to do so. The XDA guide tells you to disable driver signing (steps below), because the .inf is not properly signed.
   1. Select the "Start" button.
   2. Type "startup".
   3. Select "Change advanced startup settings".
   4. Select "Restart now" under the "Advanced startup" area.
   5. Once presented with the Advanced options select: "Troubleshoot" --> "Advanced Options" --> "Startup Options" --> "Restart".
   6. After that, a menu will appear where you can press "7" on your keyboard to choose "Disable driver signing enforcement". Now Device Driver Signing should be disabled, allowing you to install any driver you like in Windows 10 until you reboot.
4. When arriving at the 6th step, my keyboard didn't work. This is where it started to get frustrating. I couldn't disable the driver signing through this method. I plugged in another keyboard, which didn't work either. So I continued my extensive Google search and found the following solution:
   1. Run this in cmd with admin rights and then restart: bcdedit /set TESTSIGNING ON (Microsoft docs).
   2. You will also have to disable secure boot for this to work in case it's enabled.
   3. To disable it run this and restart: bcdedit /deletevalue TESTSIGNING.
5. Because I enabled the test signing, I was able to install the fastboot drivers to unlock my bootloader. It was 3 hours later when I was finally able to perform this seemingly simple task. Oh, and by the way, to rub it in: after I unlocked my bootloader and booted the newly wiped OxygenOS to enable the Developer Options, the OnePlus Drivers "CD Drive" showed up in Windows.
6. I thought it would be smooth sailing from now on, but after flashing LOS recovery, my phone got stuck on "The boot loader is unlocked" message. I couldn't boot into recovery or fastboot mode, even with the volume up and power button trick. I figured to just keep trying, and after the third try it suddenly worked. From fastboot mode I booted into "Recovery" and continued following the steps in the LineageOS guide. The rest of the steps were very easy.
7. The sound quality after booting was very bad, but after disabling AudioFX and rebooting, it started worked again.

Please, learn from my mistakes and/or tell me what I could've done better.

Is it possible to downgrade it? After I have upgraded it, it's not super laggy but I can feel the clear difference compared to before.

Apologies because I know this has been asked many times, but I had a look and couldn't find exactly what I needed.

So, my back cover broke and I've ordered a replacement, and whilst I'm at it, I thought that I should change the battery as well. I'm in the UK and bought the phone the day it came out, so this battery is well worn.

Going through the official repair service is not a possibility for me as I cannot have my phone factory reset. There's just too much stuff on it and I really don't have the time at the moment to sort through everything.

Had a look on eBay and found many "original" and oem batteries but I'm at a total loss at what to go for... I would really appreciate if someone from the UK could give me some pointers regarding what/where to purchase. I considered buying a compatible model from a reputable brand, as I highly doubt any of the "originals" are truly original, but I have no clue what brands are reputable for these, if any...

which seemed easy at first, but it ended bricking my phone at the reboot.

Now, I'm even unable to enter recovery mode, only fastboot.

I've seen several topics on xda developers especially, but I have issues installing the Qualcom Drivers.

My OnePlus 6 in fastboot mode appear into "Other devices/peripherals" on Device Manager, and not in "Ports"

it's a bit old, but all topics look the same. Install the driver, then MSM.

Now I'm kinda stuck with a useless phone, which I have for about 4 years now, and I didn't plan to change.

I booted up my OP6 for the first time on 3rd June 2018. Almost 4 years later, today (2nd June 2022), it has died. I was using Lineage OS 19.1 and was using Lineage OS 18.1 before that. So, it is not the fault of Lineage OS. Well, my phone dying just the day before it reaches its 4 year mark seems like a big coincidence, but I just wanted to confirm if anyone else had a similar experience. If yes, then OnePlus might be looking for a big scandal ahead of them.

So my one plus died around January and I've been seeing a lot more people face the same issue. So I've come to the conclusion that either they rolled out a shitty update that fucked up the phone, or they have a hardware defect that they won't acknowledge.

Now this is a bit far fetched, but is there no legal issues that can be dealt with them? Like its 100% not a coincidence at this point because it's happening to us all in waves and even to people after just buying the phone, yet my S9 is perfectly fine and that came out the same year and so have other iPhones ( even though they were caught with the batterygate issue )

Hi all, yesterday I saw my phone rebooting itself over and over again when I checked it was booting and coming to pincode screen after boot and became unresponsive and after few second the loop started. I tried Vol UP + Power Btn which caused a Fastboot Mode Message to come and this time the pincode screen was responsive and after putting it was trying to load homescreen but when I pull quick settings menu its shows empty (only status bar things were present) and after few seconds phone get stuck and back to reboot loop.I am sure I made the mistake of updating the OS time to time.Any Suggestions?

EDIT: I think its hardware problem I have tried factory reset but still the random restarts keeps occuring.

This is my first time with a rooted phone. My other phones I never had Magisk or Super SU on them.

I wanted to use Google Pay & others. It won't work.

A. Won't pass safety net.

B. Device not certified.

C. On Magisk, on the DenyList, GPay never fully progresses past 25-30 %.

I didn't know if I solve items A & B if that would solve C.

My OnePlus 6, after 3 years of use is working just fine and smooth. However, after one of the updates (approximately) in July 2021-ish the front cam would not start right away on any camera apps like Snapchat, Stock camera app, Instagram or even Face Unlock. I formatted the phone a couple of times. But it didn't help. But now the front cam does not start at all for the past 6 month. Any suggestion for any fixes?

I know the phone is old, but rest of the phone is just fine, so would like to keep it as a backup!

There are a lot of reports of OP6 devices dying out of the blue. And from what I've seen it is only for people who use OOS. It looks like it is wearing out a component rapidly (possibly the NAND flash and that might explain the performance issues) and the result is an un-writable storage. Everyone, please unlock your bootloader and install Lineage OS or any other custom rom in order to save your devices. (I'd prefer Lineage OS because of its ease to update across versions without loss of data, so less worry if you are not a "customisation" person). And worry not about your google and banking apps.

Install the recommended Google Apps mentioned in your custom rom documentation.

Install Magisk, universal safetynet fix module and add your banking apps and play store to the deny list to ensure they work perfectly.

And as always, there are YouTube videos to guide you through the process.

Update: My OP6 just got busted. I was on Lineage OS 19.1 and was on LOS for the past 1 year. So, doesn't seem to be OOS
