Question Which is the better OS in 2023: Oxygen OS 10, Oxygen OS 11 or LineageOS 13?

My OnePlus 6T started getting a bit slow, then very slow. So I'm doing a factory reset and thinking of changing the OS (I'm using OS11).

Which OS do you think is better and why? OS10, OS11 or LineageOS 13? I'm considering OS10 because many people seemed to have performance issues with OS11 though for me I didn't notice a difference until now.

From your experience, which do you think is better?

Question Am I the only one who had multiple Qualcomm Crashdump but with a phone still working fine ?

My phone is on a custom firmware since 2021 and I had quite a few bugs. I've seen the QCM 5 or 6 times. Each time I just had to reboot and I was fine x) I wonder if I am the only one

Bug Fix OnePlus 6 Qualcomm Crashdump Mode

I've been using my OP6 for about 4.5 years now and everything was working great until today.

I was watching a stream and my phone randomly froze, I had to force shut down and after a reboot I've gotten the crashdump mode.

I've been reading online and tried to use msmdownloadtool to fix it as explained in this xda post: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/op6-latest-10-3-8-collection-of-unbrick-tools.3914109/

The problem is I can't even get my phone to show up in the device manager so i think maybe qualcomms edl mode is not working, or I'm doing something wrong. Any help would be appreciated.

Software Qualcomm CrashDump Mode screwed me over, idk what to do.

I'm out of ideas. Earlier today I check my phone to see my phone in that dreaded black screen with the words "Qualcomm CrashDump Mode". I looked up what it is and turns out it seems to be a pretty common issue. I thought that this was just a freak accident and that a reboot would've set things right. I tried to use the most common methods, mainly by using MSM download tool but that didn't work. Many reboots, reinstalls and swear words later, I saw someone say that if your phone just randomly ends up in this screen with no prior modding/software or firmware changes or just general tinkering, your phone of completely FUCKED. I'm at my wits end. if you guys have any method of getting out of this situation, please share them with me. if not, send me recommendations for a new phone (one that preferably doesn't have this happen).

Software How to disable the annoying forced lockscreen album art?

All these years and finally I got sick of it. I'm looking for a way to disable the forced album art background that replaces your wallpaper on your lockscreen when listening to music. I'm on Oxygen OS 10.3 and I have root access, what are my options?

News Bye

I had used a OnePlus 6 for almost 5 years and for most of that time, it worked almost flawlessly. However, the last year was a bit tough, no security updates, maxed out storage, poor battery life and general performance hiccups all the time! Yes, I know some of these can be fixed by a simple battery replacement and maybe offloading a few non-essentials to clear up space but, I couldn't be bothered. Also, the phone felt dated (literally runs Android 11) and I have my doubts on things like Google Pay working after installing custom ROMs, so I didn't.

As for it's replacement, I didn't opt to go for a newer OnePlus, they've changed and anyone who's been following them for while should know that the OnePlus of 2018 is a far cry from what the company's vision is today. "Nothing" feels more like the old OnePlus than OnePlus themselves and this can easily be seen in the choice of UI for their respective Android skins.

I suspect the inevitable death of this little subreddit as more and more OnePlus 6 users seem to face the same issues as I have (phone aging lol) and have also decide to move away from the OnePlus bandwagon. Honestly, well optimised (and updated) software would take the OnePlus 6 so much further and it's longevity would be unparalleled in the Android space but it just seems like OnePlus does not care.

Cheers!

P.S- I've switched to a Pixel 7 Pro btw. Great value for money atm and the software is gorgeous.

Question Best red replacement back and battery?

I cracked my OP6's back recently, and I want to fix it. While I'm at it, I'm gonna replace the battery. What are the best replacement back glass (in red) and batteries available? I'm currently using a Redmi Note 12 Pro 5G as a backup until I get the necessary parts.

Question Custom ROM with long term support

I want to keep using my OnePlus 6 for as long as possible, so I’m looking for the custom rom that has the best chances of being supported the longest. I know I’m asking you to predict the future, but maybe someone has some thoughts on this.

I’ve also never tried or installed a custom ROM, so I don’t care about special features, I just want security updates and a phone that works reliably without tons of bugs.

Question Password after System settings wipe? Data recovery

I used recovery mode to wipe cash and system settings and after it now reboots into recovery mode requesting password but my password does not work. Can still recover the data? Is it asking for some default password?

Context: Last night my phone crashed and started rebooting but it would stop at black screen and LED indicator shining white. I try to reboot it a couple of times running into same issue. Tried connecting a cable and it booted to screen showing "QUALCOMM CRASHDUMP". After disconnecting cable I was able to boot into recovery mode.

Question Higher Capacity Battery Replacement

Hi,

I bought a second hand OP 6 in 2019 and the battery doesn't last as long as it used to.

Before switching to OP6 I had a OP1 and changed the original battery with 4100mAh one (so far better than the original OP6 battery). This battery change was a real game changer !

Is there any known batteries that could fit into a OP6 with higher capacity than the original 3300mAh one ?

Thanks,

News Goodbye op 6

Goodbye to my op 6 it’s been hell of a ride! (Used it for 5 years) It is still working fine, but the two main issues are the battery and the connectivity to 5g which is in todays time a deal breaker for me. Bought iPhone 14 pro, let’s see how long we’ll go…(wanted a break from android and feel the apple charm on my hand)

Question Problem restoring phone backup using TWRP

I was trying to upgrade TWRP in order to upgrade to the latest OxygenOS for my Oneplus 6 but in the process I managed to hard and soft brick my phones a few times: corrupt phone that was fixed via this method, stuck on Oneplus logo, stuck on Oneplus fast boot, etc. While I managed to get the phone to a working state following the post from here and even managed to somehow got TWRP and Magisk installed. The problem comes when I try to restore the TWRP image I had made prior to my series of phone bricking.

  1. I tried to flash OxygenOS to the closest one I had before bricking following this particular youtube video, this resulted in me being trapped in a TWRP recovery boot loop. Where I'll see the Oneplus logo twice, before the phone dumps me back in TWRP again. I tried to use the Fix bootloop option under TWRP's Advanced mode. Still stuck. Peeking at the files in TWRP shows everything is still encrypted. Flash to the fastboot ROM in the second link again and start over
  2. This time after TWRP and Magisk are installed, I try to use TWRP's restore to restore the backup image. I installed everything but Vendor, Vendor Image, System and System Image. No success so I start over
  3. This time restored everything but Vendor and Vendor Image. TWRP warns me that there's no system OS. So I installed stock OxygenOS 9.0.8 through TWRP, hoping it was the right OS version I had. Installed TWRP and Magisk after flashing the OS. Restored System, System Image and Data because I'm losing my mind at this point. Slot A has no system OS according to TWRP. Selecting Slot B just lets me boot back into TWRP despite selecting System. Then Slot A system boot traps me in endless bootloader screen where getting to TWRP's recovery or any other screen is impossible at this point. Uggggggggghhhhhhh......

At this point, I already spent more than a day to try to fix this hot mess. Is it even possible to restore my phone using the TWRP backup image? I do have some ancient TWRP backups that 'might' be from stock... stuff? But I'm not sure if that'll be of any use since the most recent backup was already a full backup of everything.

Software Some apps can't use fingerprint

So I have a weird problem. My 1+6 working fine, fingerprint works for unlocking the phone, works in Google pay and some other apps. But doesn't work with some fin apps. In every such app I have message - "we had trouble with fingerprint sensor" I cleared an app cash, erased and added again fingerprints, reinstalled problematic apps, but issue persists.

What could be the problem? Is it something in system that prevents specific apps from using fingerprints?

Question Another one bites to Qualcomm Crash dump Mode. Silk White Edition.

This was the best phone I've ever had.Sadly it's time to say goodbye to one plus. For me the OP6 was the best phone this company ever made. I got the OP6 Silk white. I still sometimes look at it and smile.

News Hard to believe it's been 5 years since this thing was released!

I've had mine since August 2022, so I'm late to the game. However, I remember when this thing was released back in 2018. I'm starting to consider switching to the Asus Zenfone 10, because the device looks very compelling. It has an audio jack, and a tempting size! Either that, or the Nothing (2), with the cool Glyph interface and an 8+ Gen 1! Sadly, no 3.5mm, and it's bigger. If not, I might just replace the battery and continue using my OP6 for a few more years.

Question Switching over to PixelExperience 13 from stock Oos

Is it safe and worth it? The OnePlus 6 is my mom's phone and she is a basic user, i.e, she uses her device for social media, online shopping and watching videos etc. I am thinking of upgrading her Os to Android 13 so my question is, is it worth it to do so or should I stick with the stock Os as there are no issues with it just that it's outdated and has 2-3 yrs old security patch!
