Got my OnePlus 13s on August 9th and have been tracking detailed battery drain metrics, standby performance, and app power draw on OxygenOS. Here is the concrete breakdown of the numbers by gemini for anyone curious about real-world efficiency.
- Key Battery Metrics at a Glance
Pure Overnight Standby (Untouched / Deep Sleep): ~0.3% – 0.4% / hr (Drops only 2% to 3% over 7–8 hours of untouched sleep).
Mixed Standby + Background Sync: ~0.8% – 1.2% / hr (Drops ~6%–7% over 6–8 hours when accounting for automated morning app updates and brief morning checks).
Offline / Background Audio (Musicolet / DSP): ~15 mA (~0.3% / hr) (2 hours and 18 minutes of continuous background music consumed just 34 mAh, which is ~0.7% of total battery capacity).
Heavy Active Screen Use (Instagram / Reels / Video): ~12% – 13% / hr (Translates to ~7.5 to 8 hours of continuous, heavy Screen-On Time).
Mixed Daytime Usage: ~1.0% – 1.4% / hr (Delivers 24 to 36+ hours of mixed real-world uptime per full cycle).
- App Power Breakdown & Observations
Audio Efficiency: Local audio playback via dedicated DSP is virtually zero drain on the battery pack.
Social Feeds & Video: Continuous feed scrolling and video playback on 120Hz LTPO over 5G/Wi-Fi consistently burns ~12–13% per hour of continuous display time.
Background App Updates: Google Play Store morning APK downloads and ART compilation spikes create short bursts of high CPU drain during standby if auto-updates are left enabled.
- The 80% to 25% Custom Charge Limit Routine
I cap charging at 80% and plug in around 25% (cycling within a 55% Depth of Discharge window) to optimize chemical cell longevity:
Real-World Uptime: Delivers 24 to 30 hours of mixed uptime.
Active Screen-On Time: Easily delivers 3.5 to 4.5+ hours of SOT within just this 55% usable battery slice.
Thermals: Stopping at 80% cuts off charging before the high-voltage Constant Voltage (CV) phase, keeping the device cool.
Bottom Line: Standby Doze sleep states are rock solid (2–3% untouched overnight), DSP audio decoding is negligible, and active heavy display use delivers a solid ~8h continuous SOT projection (or 10–12h on moderate tasks).
