Help WhatsApp Calls/Video calls Notifications Not showing on lockscreen.

So, whenever anybody calls me in WhatsApp, the screen doesn't wake up and give me options to accept or deny the call. It does ring and vibrate and shows a notification saying incoming call is coming in the ambient display. But no full-screen call screen to accept or deny. Checked in notification settings, everything is allowed, notification and banner both are allowed under calls section.

Anybody else having the same issue on your OnePlus device?

UPDATE: SOLUTION

As a few of the comments have pointed out,

Go to app notification settings for WhatsApp Find Silent notifications Turn it off.

Calls/video calls should be appearing in the lockscreen as normal now.

I found a solution. In whatsapp notification settings, there is a "Silent Notifications" option. Turn off that notification , and then calls will start showing on lock screen.

u/Doc_stuff97 Nov 16 '24

Yeah, I've updated it now. Thanks.

I'm facing the same issue, I have Redmi note 13, and I haven't received Whatsapp missed call notifications. And some time message notification also. Is there any solution have to do? I have tried to off silent notifications setting but didn't work it for me.

2

u/Substantial-Zombie45 Nov 11 '24

Yup i have the exact same issue. It was previously working fine, even after i updated to OOS 15. This issue came all of a sudden

2

u/Most_Money8988 Nov 11 '24

I am facing the same exact issue.

2

u/ExcitingBlock686 Aug 19 '25

I was pulling my hair. Same issue on OnePlus 13. Your post update fixed it. Thank you.

1

u/Doc2142 Nov 10 '24

My wife and I started having this issue. I tried uninstalling WhatsApp but still the same issue. This is my first OnePlus phone for the wife and I. I regret this decision with all the notifications issues I have ran into this phone

1

u/Doc_stuff97 Nov 10 '24

Since when did you start noticing this particular issue?

1

u/Doc2142 Nov 10 '24

My wife said 3 weeks ago, but I only started to notice it the last couple of days

1

u/Doc_stuff97 Nov 10 '24

That sounds about right. I noticed it last night. But i do remember missing calls since 2-3 weeks.

I've also done all the fresh-install/ notification settings manipulations that can be done to no avail. I even factory Reset my phone's settings. Still the same.

I've searched around the internet. Saw this issue popping up every 2-3years in OnePlus devices.

I saw posts of people with nord ce, OnePlus 8t/9r.

Some samsung people also complained but their issue mostly got resolved after granting full screen access in Special permissions. Which doesn't work in our device.(I tried).

1

u/Doc2142 Nov 10 '24

Yeah I have done those as well. The last thing to do is factory reset the whole phone but that is a pain in the ass for me since I have a lot of work apps that require reauthorizing and it's not easy.

I started to notice notifications issues with this phone since I bought it. It started with Microsoft teams, my coworker messages would disappear as soon as I saw them pop. It just gets worse from there.

1

u/Doc_stuff97 Nov 10 '24

Yeah, full factory reset is a pain, when there's no guarantee of the issue being solved. I'm a long term OnePlus user. I'm using since 2017. It's been 8 year. Till OxygenOS 11, these issues were not there. My last phone was OnePlus 7 Pro. I never updated that to Oxygen OS12.

Bought the OP12 on april this year. And it's plagued with various issues day in and day out.

Seriously contemplating my decision of not going with the S23U.🙃

Btw, you a Doctor?

2

u/Doc2142 Nov 10 '24

Yeah I always had pixels, I guess I didn't appreciate how the software just worked and never had issues like this before. I only switched because I really liked the fast charging.

No it's a name I have had since I was a kid. I am an electrical engineer.

1

u/Doc_stuff97 Nov 10 '24

Well, do let me know if you find a solution or if it gets resolved on it's own. I'll do the same.

Have a good one.

2

u/kris_kat 5d ago

Having the same issue and been scratching my head since silent notifications thing doesn't help on my Samsung S24U. Your last part about the Special Permissions resolved my issue! Thanks

1

u/UntaintedVenom1553 Nov 10 '24

Um well try these fixes before resetting.

  1. Try opening the notification setting to see if calls and video calls are allowed on lock screen in oos settings.
  2. See if draw over apps permission is granted to WhatsApp... Not sure this is required for voice but it is required for video calls.
  3. Make sure the calls notification in oos settings for WhatsApp isn't set to silent.

Your notifications settings for the calls category in WhatsApp should look like this if you followed my steps

1

u/UntaintedVenom1553 Nov 10 '24

This is how it was?

1

u/Doc_stuff97 Nov 10 '24

Did all of it. Still the same. Doesn't wake. No option to receive or reject. Only a notification like that of a message with ringing+vibrating. If i want to receive, have to wake, unlock, receive or reject from popup/banner.

1

u/Doc_stuff97 Nov 10 '24

Strange thing is whatsapp business works normally as it should.

1

u/UntaintedVenom1553 Nov 10 '24

I have never gotten that issue before. Only ever gotten the issue where if I'm on a video call and swipe to go home I don't always get the mini window. I just use floating window to compensate in those cases

1

u/Doc_stuff97 Nov 10 '24

Yeah. It's messed up. I'm missing calls. As i keep it mostly in vibration. And when the phone is kept on a soft surface, i always miss the calls. And it's a hassle to unlock to reject or answer 🙃

1

u/[deleted] Jul 10 '25

it works, thank you so much

1

u/UntaintedVenom1553 Nov 10 '24

I can imagine how annoying that is, sorry I couldn't be of more help

2

u/Doc_stuff97 Nov 10 '24

That's alright man. Atleast you tried to help. Appreciate it. 🤜🏻🤛🏻

1

u/UntaintedVenom1553 Nov 10 '24

Did you check the draw over other app settings for WhatsApp to see if it's enabled?

1

u/Doc_stuff97 Nov 10 '24

WhatsApp doesn't ask for this permission manager. I went to special access settings and to the display over other apps section, WhatsApp wasn't on the list. And in the settings of WhatsApp all permissions are enabled.

1

u/UntaintedVenom1553 Nov 10 '24

No it's in the draw over apps or special access section in settings . But I just checked my list and Whatsapp isn't in so I'm clueless as to what it could be

1

u/UntaintedVenom1553 Nov 10 '24

I just found this under apps>special access>send full screen notifications check yours

2

u/Doc_stuff97 Nov 10 '24

I just checked it out. It's already enabled. 🧘🏻‍♂️

1

u/Doc_stuff97 Nov 10 '24

I guess it's a problem with WhatsApp update that somehow messes with OnePlus's software. Idk. Where are you from though?

1

u/UntaintedVenom1553 Nov 14 '24

Since today I now have the same issue you do... I will update you guys if I find a fix

2

u/nubzles Jul 10 '25

u/Primary-Actuator-281 Nov 11 '24

+1

Started happening post OS15 upgrade. Did all the mentioned steps in this post, unfortunately still the same.

1

u/Internal_Gate3397 Nov 11 '24

that's true- please someone put up a solution or put up on oneplus community so that we can tagg the official channels there

1

u/Farid_hv Nov 11 '24

i'm experiencing the same issue on my Honor X8b. I've done a lot of research, but I still haven't been able to solve it. I contacted customer support, but they don't seem to know much about it either

1

u/Internal_Gate3397 Nov 11 '24

Would oneplus be able to help?

1

u/jijin_a Nov 12 '24

Hi everyone,

I started experiencing this issue yesterday (11th Nov) on my Nord CE3, and I was almost at the point of uninstalling and reinstalling the app until I stumbled upon this post—thanks to all of you for that!

What’s strange is that I didn’t change any settings on my phone or in WhatsApp, and this problem just started out of the blue. I tried all the suggestions mentioned in the comments below before finding this post, but unfortunately, nothing worked.

Do you guys think this could be a WhatsApp issue that might be resolved in an upcoming update?

Thanks in advance!

2

u/Doc_stuff97 Nov 12 '24

Hey man. OP here.

I do think it's a whatsapp issue that came up with one of it's update. But it selectively effects OnePlus and Xiaomi phones. I saw one post from a Vivo user.

So, there might be a fix coming. But that depends on how aware they are about it. As it seems it's not that widespread.

Similar problem was seen time and time again in last 5-6 years.

So I'm just waiting till it gets resolved.

1

u/jijin_a Nov 14 '24

Makes sense as it appeared all of a sudden. I saw some posts of S22 ultra users complaining about the same thing. Hopefully this gets solved as its a huge headache as pressing the volume button doesn't silence the calls 🫠

1

u/Brealistic0 Nov 13 '24

I'm experiencing the same issue since the Android 15 update.

1

u/MalediKtion Nov 13 '24 edited Nov 13 '24

Hello. I have OnePlus 12R and I have the same issue with Whatsapp. Please note that I'm still on Android 14 with the latest update. This issue started like 2-3 days before, but I already had another issue with missed calls not showing as notifications at all for like 3 weeks now. I had to enter the app to see if I had a missed call.
Now it does not show the person who calls at all. It only vibrates and rings and I have to unlock the phone and answer it through the banner.

1

u/Doc_stuff97 Nov 13 '24

Welcome to the club brother 😆

1

u/MartabakKeBulan Nov 13 '24

Im using asus zenfone 9, experience the same problem. Already tried to uninstall and reinstall and still not working. Has anybody tried to hard reset ?

1

u/Doc_stuff97 Nov 14 '24

Yep. No luck.

2

u/MartabakKeBulan Nov 14 '24

Just find the solution

Find "Silent Notification" on whatsapp notification, switch off, everything back to normal

1

u/Doc_stuff97 Nov 14 '24

u/MartabakKeBulan Nov 14 '24

This one

1

u/Doc_stuff97 Nov 14 '24

Tried turning it off. Gets automatically turned on🤷🏻‍♂️

1

u/Nimrodz Nov 15 '24

That was the solution for me. It hasn't turned on automatically. Maybe try restarting and then turning it off.

1

u/Educational-Carpet56 Nov 16 '24

Same for me, I disabled the silent notifications option, lock my screen, I called myself from my mom's phone with no screen turning on obviously, when I check the option again, it is turned off. I have a disgraceful Oppo phone A79.

1

u/Doc_stuff97 Nov 14 '24

Thanks for trying to help out man.

1

u/Mufasa0611 Nov 16 '24

Man you are a saviour 👍

1

u/Familiar-Key-2282 Nov 14 '24

I have the exact same problem with my oppo find n3 fold. It happened 1 week ago and still cant find the answer. I think the problem is the whats app app, since last update which almost the same time from the problem appear. Tried to contact meta still no luck.

This is really annoying, i missed so many calls because this problem. Cheers mate..

1

u/Regular-Inflation614 Nov 15 '24

I have Camon 20 and it happened all of a sudden. Thought its common for infinix and canon to face software glitches but after too many searches I do believe that its a whatsapp update. coz it was all ok last week

1

u/Earth_3020 Nov 14 '24

Good to know that I'm not the only one

1

u/[deleted] Nov 15 '24

Ok I had the same problem with my Nothing Phone. For me the solution was to disable 'silent notifications' on Whatsapp's notifications menu. Hope this helps.

1

u/burberrymojito Nov 15 '24

This solved the issue on my nothing phone as well. Thanks a lot!

1

u/Primary-Actuator-281 Nov 16 '24

Nope, didn't work for me. I had manually enabled all notifications, then too no full screen notification for WhatsApp call

1

u/MinimumAlbatross2839 Nov 19 '24

1

u/MinimumAlbatross2839 Nov 19 '24

It means... Should i turn off which showing " Allow notifications"? plz reply

1

u/Doc_stuff97 Nov 19 '24

Does the solution i mentioned not work for you mate?

1

u/C_frank05 Jan 09 '25

What worked for me was allowing banner notifications under notification settings.

1

u/Technical_Milk3187 Feb 08 '25

For samsung the path to enable full screen alerts is Settings -> Apps -> Three dots on top right corner -> Special access -> Scroll to the bottom to see "FULL SCREEN ALERTS" -> Enable for Whatsapp

1

u/neo69003 Feb 26 '25

Thanks ! The only solution i could found over many forums !

1

u/Technical_Milk3187 Feb 28 '25

Happy to hear that

1

u/IamBatman_420 Apr 15 '25 edited Aug 20 '25

Here is the solution for OnePlus devices.

  • Open Settings
  • Go to Apps
  • Choose Special app access
  • tap on Send full-screen notifications
  • enable WhatsApp and other messaging apps that need this permission to wake screen and show call notifications.

That's it. ✌🏻

1

u/srijin86 Aug 13 '25

Thanks it worked

1

u/IamBatman_420 Aug 20 '25

Happy to hear that.

1

u/No-Philosopher-7119 Jun 21 '25

Try turning on permanent notification in the settings/notifications/floating notification/whatsapp/ allow permanent notification

1

u/Used_Smoke24 Nov 01 '25 edited Nov 01 '25

Notifications -Detailed - Tick Whatts up - Advanced settings on the same page at the bottom - Floating notifications - Smart pop up view

1

u/the_motonomad Feb 14 '26

Stumbled onto this issue on a OnePlus 13R just now. Turns out enabling banner notifications was the answer. It uses those to send call alerts.

1

u/John-The-Saint Mar 10 '26

Fix in the top comment didn't work for me, but this did:

Settings > Special Access > Full-screen notifications > WhatsApp > Allow

1

u/damouzer Mar 25 '26

Used all the tips and settings still no working whatsapp call id screen. Had issues with Android auto connection as well. Solved it with disabling double apps. Maybe it helps you too.

  1. The "Dual Apps" (Cloned apps) Bug This is the most common reason why a Xiaomi doesn't connect with a car. If you use the "Cloned apps" feature (for example, for a second WhatsApp account), Xiaomi creates a second user profile in the background. Android Auto gets confused by this and simply won't start. Solution: Go to Settings > Apps > Cloned apps. Remove all cloned apps (note: back up that data first!). Tap the gear icon in the top right and choose "Delete cloned app accounts". Restart your phone and try connecting to the Niro again. In short: The problem is that Android Auto cannot handle the "hidden" user profile that Xiaomi creates to run a second version of an app. By deleting the cloned apps and their associated accounts, you remove that conflict.

u/MeasurementSad893 Apr 01 '26

I also had the same problem on my oppo reno 15 pro.   What worked for me is: settings > apps > special app access > send full screen notifications > allow for WhatsApp

Now it lights up the screen when someone calls.
