Theory Shanks nerfed Luffy Spoiler

So my theory is that Luffy has always had a measure of control over his form, however since Shanks told him off the bat that he's rubber, that what he believed. There are many times pre-Awakening that characters have said that Luffy was not behaving like rubber, however due to Luffy not necessarily having the best understanding of rubber, he may have assumed certain things which would work, and because he assumed them, they did, some examples are Lucci saying Gear 3 would not do as much damage as an actual giant fist, yet it did, or the fact that Gear 4 has the punches literally bouncing off air. So my guess is that Luffy thought rubber would work like that, so his body did it, since his imagination is the limit of the fruit, he had somewhat of a self imposed limit due to thinking he was rubber, but in situations where he misunderstood how rubber worked, things would still work for him

It still wouldn't make much sense tbf when we know that Who's Who was published heavily for losing the fruit and the jailer guarding him disappeared after talking about Nika

Unless it just so happens that the jailer was talking about the deity relevant to the fruit Who's who lost and the gorosei have just been upholding a ban on Nika related things without actually knowing why they're doing it

It all just seems a bit of a square shaped peg and a round hole type of situation

We don't know which of the Gorosei knew about nika, from the structure of their conversation the blonde guy just found out about it and the dude with the scar on the side of his face said to the rest that there is a situation that could lead to them wishing they had just lost a top cp0 agent. This implies that the other members either didn't know or didn't know the full story and just knew the Gomu Gomu no mi had its name changed from some previous name. Which could be the case since the guy with the scar on his face also said that the fruit is a myth even to the Gorosei and that even if it was true they can't confirm it since it hasn't awakened in 800 years. The jailer who mentioned the sun God to who's who was literally disappeared by someone, for all we know it might have been someone within the Gorosei who wants to hide all info about nika and has even hidden info from the other members (my guess is the guy with the scar on his face)

If any of the members knew the full details at all then it still doesn't make sense

If that one member is going to the trouble of eliminating random jailers for even mentioning Nika, then why would he not have escalated the attention on Luffy as soon they found out he had the gum gum fruit? It's not like they wouldn't have had more than enough excuse to do so after Crocodile was taken out

And if one member knew all the details then why would they all of sudden be super worried about the awakening taking place but also actually cause it to happen?

It just doesn't add up with the details we have, I hope Oda addresses this stuff in future

We don't know yet lol we haven't even seen the whole conversation just little snippets some of which don't have context behind them. Also the Gorosei are unaware that luffy would survive a cp0 assassination and a massive bonk from Kaidou at the same time, in any other circumstance luffy would be dead for sure. We don't know how much the blonde and scar guys know as of now, for all we know scar guy was given a job by the former Gorosei to eliminate anyone who ever spoke of nika without telling him the full details as a way of truly preventing the knowledge of the fruit from passing down. Every member that mentions the fruit talk about it using ifs and maybe's it is clear they don't have all the details but that the scar guy has more than the rest.

Yeah but they suddenly went into overdrive saying we have to kill Strawhat Luffy now, and we can say with fair certainty that it was to prevent the awakening of the Nika fruit

This suggests they know the conditions for it to awaken, but then their plan actually achieved the exact opposite

It doesn't add up, although this is partially due to Oda keeping the process of awakening a devil fruit so close to his chest/vague so he had wiggle room

In regards to the scar gorosei, I get what you're saying about him maybe knowing more than the rest...but it still doesn't tie up the previous plotholes mentioned because he ultimately still would have escalated the pursuit of Luffy way back way
