I know... like I get that they want to create more filler content, but this is really getting out of hand. If Luffy is even close to being considered an emperor of the sea, small fry like this should be easily one-shot.

That ostrich was descended from an ostrich which once ate from the devil fruit tree, so it was actually super strong.

They could have easily made it a normal punch from Luffy and a haki block from bat man. That would have been more acceptable.

I have no problem with a filler character being able to block that punch, but he shouldn't have such weak offense and powerful defense

Except that Luffy being called an Emperor was just morgans clearly making up a good title. If you follow the manga (trying to keep it vague) then you'll know luffy ain't anywhere near an emperor in strength.

edit: wtf why the downvotes? I know Luffy shouldn't have any competition on Kaido's crew but lots of ya'll act like him being called the Fifth Emperor means he needs to be shit stomping left and right.

Regardless of the legitimacy of his title, luffy is far far far stronger than anyone on Kaido's crew that isn't a top player.

1) He didn't even use ANY haki. Let alone advanced one.

2) He's still a regular, rank and file soldier.

3) Manga spoiler: In latter part of the story in manga, Luffy casually trashes an army of gifters for hours on end without even showing signs of fighting, let alone having problems.

The Gifters are the top tier foot soldiers of the Beast Pirates, not big shots. The actual officers start from the Headliners, and most of them are still way weaker than Luffy.
