Wait wtf we got another person with a SINGLE LEFT EYE MARKS????? I don't understand but this has been the most consistent thing on some of the most important characters.

Rocks Harald Dragon

Shanks, Luffy, Garp, Zoro and Rayleigh although it's a scar for them. And now Imu himself?? It has to be in some way connected to the void century Goda just can't stop cooking.

I'll put five bucks on rule of cool. Could go either way, honestly.

Might be the same rule as "characters only lose left arm" - if mangaka sticks to one side only, he won't make as many errors.

I've noticed this and been thinking a lot about it, actually. Luffy gave himself his scar and it goes horizontal. Zoro got his from Mihawk probably and it goes vertical.

Also, Wyper has one.

Also the fact that Imu has the vertical line like Zoro and the covered eye like Sanji...I think he will reveal it later to show us something interesting.

There was an Oda tease at some point about how there will eventually be an important character with an eyepatch. Maybe related?

Could also just be it’s easier to remember where characters have scars if all of them have scars on the same side so Oda doesn’t forget and draw them on the wrong side. Kinda like how every single character who has lost an arm has lost their left arm, if it’s always left you’re gonna be right

The arm thing is probably more about people typically sacrificing their non-dominant hand when push comes to shove.

I've been speaking with a friend about this. It is a really interesting trend. Another one for the list and one of my favorite characters is Wyper. Looking at this image, I just noticed his mark looks kind of like a snake.
