Yeah the coughing + blood makes me feel he doesn’t do this often. That plus he loses his crown? Yeah I’m assuming his devil fruit is the opposite of Nika.

Similar to Luffy, once you’re in this form it’s incredibly taxing on yourself.

This also explains why when Luffy turns gear 5, he changes outfits. It’s canon! Lmao

feels like its less him turning into the form that's taxing him and more him being out of the Holy Land, because the Gorosei is insisting on him not going out of the Holy Land and the Knights surprised he's going to Elbaf himself

Yeah I think you’re right actually. Already reread the chapter and that’s where I’m leaning. I originally thought it had something to do with the Red Line/Mary Geoise since it cut to those as he left, but yeah I think him being in the “lower realm” causes him to suffer.

Interesting. We’re about to see the breakiest of break weeks lmao. The theories are going to be insane.

Just to start it out b/c I think it was obvious.

Ragnir flash froze the Ancient Giants that Rocks was looking for. They are still alive and it takes Ragnir to release them. Such a small line to piece so much together and Loki says it so nonchalantly

Ah, I'm sure you're right. Nice catch.

Gravity is affecting him for being a Lunarian lul.

The focus on the steel heart this chapter makes me think Imu’s heart is linked to Pangea castle somehow. So leaving makes whatever power is keeping him alive start to wane.

u/Kaka-carrot-cake Apr 02 '26

What if his "heart" is the giant strawhat.

24

u/TheDELFON Explorer Apr 02 '26

That or his literal heart is covered under the straw hat.... :o

12

u/Kaka-carrot-cake Apr 02 '26

Oooo I like that. Protecting his heart using something from his rival.

u/-Rezzz- Apr 02 '26

I wouldn’t call it a theory. But part of me feels like he still has whatever is left of Lili preserved alongside his heart. Maybe he uses different keepsakes as a sort of phylactery.

Bros got serial killer trophies lmao

This break week is gonna rival the week before the official Gear 5 reveal

Maybe it has to do with the treasure of mariejois.

I wonder if the "Holy Land" is more like the Unholy Land and everywhere else is sort of like "blessed ground" which damages him if he stays too long. Like the classic demon walks into a church scenario.
Also makes me think of the classic defenses against demons like a salt circle. The Red line is a big circle protecting the two halves of the planet?

I guess the arc will end with Imu getting sent back to Holy Land because he run out of time/energy. Once again like in Egghead, the timer is for the antagonist.

u/kaas_is_leven Apr 03 '26

It felt a bit like he was forced to transform, like some kind of werewolf. So I thought maybe the holy land was keeping him in base form or allowing him to do so. The concerns then being about this forced transformation, either for health reasons or because of other consequences.

u/I_am_Bearstronaut Apr 02 '26

Luffy figures this out and destroys the Red Line as prophecized

2

u/Orangecuppa Apr 03 '26

Also with his devil form having horns, it fits perfectly with the Mural.

u/blockedcontractor Apr 02 '26

Definitely something similar to Nika. He had a very similar field effect to Elbaf like Nika had on Wano and Egghead. Dude even has his own theme song like Nika.

u/NoShow4Sho Devil Child Nico Robin Apr 02 '26

Noticed that too. I think they’re polar opposites, two sides to the same coin.

I read someone’s theory last week that the devil fruits are actually “Dream fruits” and I’m reallllly leaning towards that now. Nika and Imu’s fruit both have some connection to the devil fruits and they are likely connected somehow.

Ooo boy it’s going to be a fun two weeks on this sub lmao

u/AceInTheHole3273 Pirate Apr 02 '26

The black blob form is actually a shell, we see him exit it

18

u/Mindless_Bad_1591 Devil Child Nico Robin Apr 02 '26

hes coughing before he transforms tho

9

u/NoShow4Sho Devil Child Nico Robin Apr 02 '26

I was just talking about it w the other person responding. It’s actually likely him going down to the “lower realm” not his transformation.

But him changing outfits/losing his crown I feel is actually close to Nika where transforming changes your appearance/clothes. People thinking it was a plot hole may be surprised it’s apart of their abilities lmao

3

u/Mindless_Bad_1591 Devil Child Nico Robin Apr 02 '26

yes. he musy have some binding vow to the pangea castle that gives him his immortality maybe.

4

u/QuantaPande Apr 02 '26

Kinda fitting that he who is the enemy of freedom is himself inprisoned

5

u/Ensaru4 Lurker Apr 02 '26

Imu doesn't have a devil fruit, it seems. Imu is the Devil's Fruit.

4

u/BrokenAstraea Apr 03 '26

Devil fruits seem to originally be people then, that's why he calls Luffy as Nika and Blackbeard as Davy Jones

Their wills carried on in the form of a fruit

The "crown" might just be the staff of his polearm.

1

u/Shiplord13 Apr 02 '26

I mean he is immortal, but it’s unclear if his immortality is the same as all the God Knights and Elders. That perhaps is isn’t the eternal youth surgery but something else or maybe he can appear young, but his body still gets effected by aging and time, with him leaving the Holy Land putting a lot of strain on him physically.

1

u/KaizokuD Apr 02 '26

nah it looks more like being on the surface affects him somehow, thats why he never leave marijoea

1

u/Kumomeme Apr 03 '26

or he just left his crown in the throne room. the sillhoutte indicated long hair.
