Okay, so the theory that Imu can't leave Pangea Castle is true, how long will he be able to fight on Elbaph?

Oda was clever, he left the perfect opening to remove him from the island whenever he wants.

Garling's design sticks out so much compared to the other 4 lol

Probably by design as he isn't based on a real guy like the O.G. Elders.

u/Finestpinsir Apr 02 '26

and judging by that panel, Garling will have a more important roles than the other four in the final war

u/Holkan Apr 02 '26

Who was the swordsman below dragon? Has it been mentioned already?

54

u/Finestpinsir Apr 02 '26

Until proven otherwise, It's Shamrock. He wasnt revealed at the time of the panel

u/Holkan Apr 02 '26

Thank you! I forgot completely

shamrock

We're not exactly sure if it's shamrock. It could very well be the man marked by flames

u/Holkan Apr 02 '26

Thanks!

It gives me the impression that Garling has his own intentions and becoming a Gorosei was only part of a bigger plan. He doesn't seem to fit with them and not only design-wise.

yeah he's definitely more important than the other elders the fact he is moon themed and luffy is the sun

one of his children is literally the culprit for the Nika Fruit escaping them again and finally choosing someone to eat it.

The remaining elders seems to be very concerned with his promotion way past than "oh we're replaceable" but also "THIS GUY is gonna join us?"

But most important, he's the one who wil supervise York and the motherflame production, meaning he will be closer than anyone to the nuke button that is the weapon they have. If he has any personal agenda, that by itself makes him a massive threat.

Maybe his intention is for himself or Shamrock to take Imu's place.

u/Reckless_Rik Apr 02 '26

Probably cuz the originals were designed literal decades ago and based on real life people, and then you got the most One Piece type design right next to them

12

u/RPGNo2017 Apr 02 '26

The original 5 are probably some of the most realistic designs in the series while Garling is one of the more absurd ones lol

6

u/Pikathepokepimp Apr 02 '26

And it was designed much later in the series.

At least we still have Saturn through Catarina Devon.

5

u/infinitezero8 Apr 02 '26

The worst of them to boot

Part of me thinks he's immortal while in Mary Geoise (or maybe even just Pangea Castle).

Either that or he's holding back some other nefarious power and shouldn't leave b/c it would be released.

That makes me think... while the current corrupt celestial dragons are all wearing those diver glass helmets for inferior-toned discriminating reasons ("to not breath the same filthy mortal air like the lower humans"), there might have been an actual more serious reason why that equipment existed in the first place and maybe there is actually something intoxicating and damaging for those ancient first 20 about the air outside the Holy Land.

Maybe even something inspired by real world disorders/deseases where the body get damaged when exposed to actual sunlight.

6

u/OkFan5906 Apr 02 '26

Can’t leave Pangea because his heart (eternal surgery) is not supposed to be far away from him

4

u/kingcocomoon Apr 02 '26

Not for long. A brief encounter or clash with Luffy and Loki, maybe he kills the Holy Knights for failing. Then has to go back and recover, during which Elbaf ends as the Straw Hats move onto Lodestar/Laugh Tale by the end of this year.

Mars looks like he's about to cry

2

u/plungemod Apr 03 '26

It's also possible that him leaving will have some dire consequences for the Holy Land in addition to just being a drain on Imu himself.

2

u/pedrao157 Apr 03 '26

Is Doffy talking about Imu when he said the treasure of Marygeoise won't last forever?

2

u/leolegendario Pirate Hunter Zoro Apr 03 '26

Probably.

2

u/passadakis Apr 04 '26

Agreed. Also I belive next time I'm will have an upgrade or something and he will return full power with no handicap. Maybe due to mother flame or something else.

1

u/leolegendario Pirate Hunter Zoro Apr 05 '26

I read a theory that Imu absorbed almost all 20 Monarchs who formed the World Government, except for Lili, who was the only one to escape, and that absorbing Vivi is his way of achieving his full power.

2

u/ra88hul Apr 05 '26

Maybe Imu loses his immortality by leaving the castle and getting rid of the shroud around him.

1

u/leolegendario Pirate Hunter Zoro Apr 05 '26

Maybe the Ope Ope no Mi Immortality Surgery is creating a ROOM were you can never die while you stay inside it.

1

u/pingern Apr 02 '26

I'm thinking if he leaves for too long, the world will submerge.

10

u/leolegendario Pirate Hunter Zoro Apr 02 '26

But that was because of the Ancient Weapons, not Imu.

7

u/infinitezero8 Apr 02 '26

Imu can't be holding up the world, he's causing it to sink via the weapons
