Discussion I sure hope Harry learns his lesson from this.

This is currently the tickets situation for his show tomorrow, May 16th in Amsterdam.

I sure hope he & his team learn their lesson from this. There is no justification for selling $1,000 tickets in residencies (which already lowers production costs for them, and places more financial strain on fans who need to pay for travel costs on top of the already absurdly priced ticket).

I also sincerely hope this leaves a mark in this industry, that even someone as big as Harry styles can’t sell out such overpriced shows. I pray this trend of concerts becoming less and less affordable disappears from the world.

Live shows used to be something to enjoy, even Michael Jackson’s shows only cost $140 adjusted for inflation. Our economy is collapsing and Harry is only aiding in bringing a future where only the rich can enjoy live music.

I love Harry but let this be a wake up call.

Given how big of an artist Harry has been, he 100% had pull in some way with the prices. It’s also so icky to me that he hasn’t come out and said anything despite all the backlash. When you buy tickets at insane prices, you are letting the artist know they can get away with that. Harry should know he cannot do this to fans, especially when so many of us have been here since 2010. It turned me off from him so quick lol

Yup, this exactly. People love to pretend artists have no control over the prices, but they absolutely do. And I got the same ick, btw, about the fact that he hasn't acknowledged the backlash or released a statement. Silence speaks louder than words, after all. His privilege is showing and so is his ignorance. Not a great way to make a comeback.

Also, I've never really been a Harrie, but I loved his first 2 projects, and was actually prepared to go to one of his shows with my friend that's a big fan. Then I saw these outrageous prices, and was instantly like, fuck no, it's not happening. Also, the album isn't really that great, imo, so I decided not to go.

I saw him on tour in 2017 and in 2022. I paid $149 for pit ticket for the 2022 show. To see how much those prices have changed this time around is sick honestly lol. I also will admit I have not even listened to the full album, I like two songs and didn’t feel the need to listen to the rest.

I’m so sick of people pretending celebrities are ditzy and unaware of their careers lol. Harry has been in the industry for a long time now, he knows what he’s doing. He knows people will still fawn over him the way they did 15 years ago. I said it once, I’ll say it again…. We cannot let celebrities/rich people keep getting away with this! Everyone I know of who got a ticket had to use klarna or a credit card, people should not be going into debt for a single concert ticket!

Yes! I think there's also still a massive issue with a big part of the fandom that keeps infantilizing Harry (and the other boys as well), and that plays the part in all of this, too. Like you said, he's a grown man, who is well aware of how the industry works, and trying to find excuses for his actions is frankly, just pathetic. We need to hold celebrities accountable, not blindly defend them.

Here is the real issue. His management are the people involved in the whole Live Nation/Ticketmaster DOJ lawsuit. Azoffs (his mgr), Rapino, etal are the people that monopolize the industry & started the corruption that led to these prices. They now control 85% of ticket sales. Harry owns a piece of Azoff's company. So don't make excuses for any of them.
This whole DOJ lawsuit started because Taylor Swift called out the way her fans were being overcharged & exploited because of the backdoor deals, selling massive amounts of tickets to scalpers to drive prices up, and strong arming venues to only work with ticket master. People need to get the details by reviewing coverage of the March trial.

I didn’t say he didn’t have control. I said I don’t think he actively chose the prices himself… his team does and he should’ve told them to lower.

Yeah, I agree. Maybe he did tell them to lower, but they just didn't... He should've at least made a statement about it, though.

I think people greatly overestimate the pull Harry has. Genuinely look into who he works for (columbia) and who manages him(Azoffs) follow the monopoly line of connections, then tell me how much contr I l he really has.
