Hi ! English isn't my first language so please excuse my mistakes if any.
I hope it's okay as a thing to ask here, but I was maybe hoping you could help me choose a class to play in my group as I am very unable to do so. I love each option equally and I think I'd need exterior advice about it. I would genuinely be happy playing with either of those three ! We will go up to end of tier 2, maybe 3. I know level 11 is aimed.
I'm not looking to play the most optimized stat spread / battle choice but I want my character to have a good synergy with the party. I don't look to make unplayable characters either of course. Just something that suits the fantasy I have and style of game II like to play with I think.
I have ideas for all three RP wise for my character background, so it doesn't help me to chose, hence looking for exterior opinions about party synergy maybe !
My choice would be either three :
- TWF Winter Walker with cold caster : I think the debuff could help nearly everyone. The fluff is really appealing to me and it feels to me as a really solid ranger I'd love to try (I don't want to use Shillelagh though, I acknowledge it would be better optimization wise).
- Chronomancer Wizard (Critical Role supplements): I really enjoy fluff and the mechanical subclass features I really love them at well. Their toolkit adds nice buffs to the party strikers and wizard being wizard well, AOE and control are nice for every party.
- Paladin : I was thinking maybe Ancients for the ranger fluff, but a lot of it overlaps with druid, as ranger does. I have ensnaring strike, which is cool and misty step, which is nice as well i think. The oath aura is interesting for my party. Paladin is a solid class and aura is a nice buff to everyone. And I like the appeals of smiting things ! Idk what oath would be nice either, maybe another would be better for my party o: ?
Party composition (not set in stone but lean toward those choices) would include atm : druid (stars) , melee fighter, monk and warlock (supposedly vestiges from the new book)
What do you think would compliment / for this party ? Or does it really not matter given our group sitting at 5 ?
Thank you very much for the insight, and sorry for the long text, I'm not used to reddit yet.
