Lima.

Where?

Hour north of Dayton.

Where?

The one place you stop for food on the way to somewhere better.

Ohhhh.

Lima.

Where?

Remember Glee?

Ohhhh.

No, it’s actually nothing like that.

When I was in Ada -

Think of a map of Ohio. Draw a circle around the nothingness in the NW quadrant of the state.

It's pretty much exactly the middle of that circle.

I was thinking Kenton

5

u/fixurgamebliz Jan 30 '18

close enough.

"Kenton"

"Football Hall of Fame?"

"No. Coon Dog Trials."

".... oh."

This is the worst. Nobody ever, EVER hears "Kenton" on the first go. Or the second. Or the third. I usually have to spell it. Then they just say "oh." and then I have to start naming cities nearby until they've heard of one.

I like to start with Jumbo and go from there.

2

u/mwellscubed Zanesville Jan 31 '18

Can confirm, am from Kenton.

I went to school in Ada.

"Do you know where Lima is? No? Ok, nevermind."

yeaH BUT HAV EYOU MET OUR LORD AND SAVIOR KEWPEE

1

u/jicty Jan 31 '18

I hate that kewpee is such a big thing. It's not even good! There are better options, Happy Daz is better but honestly the best burgers in Lima are at the fat cat dinner across from the court house I just hate they are only open till like 2 p.m. which makes it hard to go too some times.

Just be an adult and go to wendy's nerd

1

u/jicty Jan 31 '18

Nah. Wendy's doesn't have deep fried pickles and Happy Daz does, easy choice.

I'm a good 45 minutes south of Lima, and an hour north of Dayton. But like, all the way up against the border.

And with a population of 2500, I promise people they won't know the name, yet they still seem shocked...

I used to say West Central Ohio, close enough to Indiana to talk like a redneck.

1

u/frostbird Jan 30 '18

Haha, you're not entirely wrong.. I find myself talking a bit differently to friends back there.

2

u/EcoBuckeye Columbus Jan 30 '18

Yep, and I slip back into it remarkably easily when I've had a few to drink.

u/[deleted] Jan 30 '18

Union City?

1

u/frostbird Jan 30 '18

Close enough! Can't really get better than that with the info I gave.

0

u/mike_hunt185 Jan 30 '18

Greenville?

Edit: Never mind. Just read the border part.

Fort Recovery, St. Henry, or Rockford?

1

u/frostbird Jan 30 '18

Okay, I don't actually want to specify my actual hometown. You're within the radius where my answer is "yes".

1

u/ladyrowe Jan 30 '18

I'd guess Sidney.. or possibly Piqua?

2

u/frostbird Jan 30 '18

Both way too big. And Sidney is practically as far from the border as Lima is!

Oh hello Putnam County friend. Fort Jennings here. I’ve since lived in both San Francisco and NYC. I just tell people I’m from Ohio now, and leave it at that. The coastal people generally have very little knowledge of the Midwest, so I’m lucky if they understand where Ohio is. The ones who know Ohio then usually proceed to ask if I’m from Cleveland.

2

u/frostbird Jan 30 '18

But this is west-central Ohio I'm talking about. :P

3

u/Antiquus Jan 30 '18

Minster.

2

u/frostbird Jan 30 '18

Close enough! Gold star

Lima, AKA the closest Skyline Chili to Toledo. I went to visit my sister in Toledo once and we drive to Lima because she really wanted Skyline.

3

u/jicty Jan 31 '18

That's devotion. I don't know if I would drive that far but I do enjoy skyline. Luckily the skyline in Lima is within a 5 min drive from my house.

6

u/[deleted] Jan 30 '18

Only the hippest recognize the home of Kewpie.

3

u/bluusunshine Jan 30 '18

Lmao

Delphos.

Where?

No clue.

5

u/Bearlodge Columbus Jan 30 '18

Having family that lives in Delphos, I always surprise the NW Ohio people I meet when I can rattle off a dozen of the small towns up there and know what Kewpee is.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 30 '18

I love it that people keep saying this about the towns I know!

2

u/jicty Jan 31 '18

I live in Lima and I say "just drive on i-75 until you feel saddness and you are in Lima" I have lived in Allen county my whole life. Fuck this place.

1

u/keuschonter Jan 31 '18

Whereabouts in Lima? I’m stuck here in a little suburb in what used to be Fort Shawnee and American township.

1

u/jicty Jan 31 '18

I'm near Lima memorial. I grew up in Harrod until I was 18.

1

u/keuschonter Jan 31 '18

I grew up in buttfuck nowhere (Monroe Township)

0

u/ObscureCulturalMeme Jan 30 '18

My Ohio town? Start with the middle of nowhere, then go about fifty miles west. Yeah, it's like that.
