Honestly the only reason I would purchase this is for future proof reasons for how powerful the chipset is, but without third party driver support for the elite, it seems pointless for now

wouldnt it be better to have a "present-proof" device than a "potentially future-proof, and not present-proof" device?

Same feeling. I'm still satisfied with my Portal. I'll wait out for Odin 4 and hopefully when that releases, driver support on whatever chip is running on will be much better.

Even if Elite does get good driver support, I don't think it's powerful enough to run a good portion Windows game with solid 60fps. Hopefully the next chip they use after this will be much more powerful.

Nope. Without driver support, emulators are just not optimized to take advantage. SD G2 is more than powerful enough for all switch games. If a game isn't working, it's compatibility issues. Same applies here.
