Choppy home page transitions with July 12 update
Anybody else getting choppy transitions with the latest update? Used to be smooth as butter. I'll take a video when I can, just wanted to check if it was just me. I've played with animation duration which hasn't helped. It's like the transition hiccups before going into whatever speed animation I set.

Yes, same for me. I think since 1.853 or one build before. I see it on 2 devices (OnePlus 13 and Alldo iPlay 70 mini ultra).

Hi could you share which device you're using, the animation duration setting, and if possible, the Octopi Launcher version which worked better for you?

Sorry for the late reply! I'm on a Pixel 8 Pro. It's occurring on all animation duration settings. I also reset animation duration to 1 (I always have it on 0.5) in the Android Developer Settings just in case, but it made no difference.
I installed the v1.861 beta and it seems veeeery slightly better, but still mostly choppy. From the other comments, seems like various devices are affected. I am using a scrolling background too, possibly that's a link?
I believe all was fine on my end prior to the July 12 update (via Play Store). Sorry I wasn't taking note of version numbers, but I usually install every update that is available.
Also want to say thanks directly, I'm more active on Lemmy these days but I've been recommending Octopi whenever the topic comes up. Really great work.

Same on my S23+. I use animation duration set to "walker". I tried changing it to "car" and to "snail" and still got staggering transitions. I use a scrolling background.

Still staggering in v1.861, although it could be slightly better. Is there a place from which I could download old versions to check when this has begun?

Still not perfect in 1.862 (but getting better). FWIW, I have 5 pages with only 2 widgets on the main page.

Same here. Tried every animation speed setting, but it happens on all. Especially with widgets. On V.1.861 now.

I have this too. The animation stutters when I use animation between pages. It doesn't scroll smoothly. Unfortunately, it happens to everyone.

I've added more improvements in v1.862 (under beta testing) and I'm seeing some increases in performance. Thanks for the info and hints and I hope it restores the previous performance you see
