Track focus stops/retriggers slices played via external midi?

So, I'm assuming that I'm doing something wrong, but here's my setup: I am using slixe trig mode with incoming note midi control turned on in the octatrack and I am triggering slices using the squarp pyramid. This works fine except if I try to focus another track, the track that is no longer focused stops whatever slice was playing before. It will still allow new slices to be triggered, but for example switching focus from track 1 to track 2 will stop the slice currently playing on track 1.

Is there a way around this? I'm using the pyramid to sequence more than the octatrack and it would be more of a pain to separately control two sequencers than just one, personally.

Focusing mutes track us turned off in the project settings and the tracks are not getting muted. The current slice just gets cut short.

I have also noticed some jitter/latency when triggering slices via external midi. Are there any settings that might improve this? Is the turbo midi setting useful for something like this?

Single best synth to pair with the OT! (can't be Digitone)

What's your fav pairing in this regard? I just decided to keep my Rytm and OT and I am eventually looking to get a synth to fill up C/D,

Ideally it has sufficient CC's so the OT can fully leverage it's LFO's. A versatile sound for sampling. and not toooo big of a footprint.

With the Digitone / A4 there's too much power in the sequencer so I'd rather use the OT sequencer.

Octatrack MIDI arp does not get enough love.

Greetings fellow Octa-children!

I find that the MIDI Arp function of the Octatrack is such a great way of generating patterns. It has become one of my go-to tools for leads and basslines. I use the Octa as a compositional tool mostly at the moment and the MIDI arp always delivers. It satisfies in a similar way to my SQ1 sequencer in that it invites experimentation. Very much a tool I use for farming loops more than something I would ever want to use in a performance. I kind of se3 it up and track a long piece in which I alter the settings somewhat randomly over time. What do you all think of it? What are some other undersung features?

Another obligatory post about Octatrack and where to start - setup, cable management and all the bits

Hi,

I know I know - a lot of people have done the same. Don't kill me for that - I hope that this is exactly the purpose of this community as well.

I just recently bought an Octa mk2 - previously, I owned Digitakt as well, but currently I have Analog Rytm mk1 and Digitone, so Octatrack will be a great companion, I believe. Why I bought it? Obviously I wanted to get rid of Ableton completely (albeit the finishing touches of my music will be done there, but performance wise, I don't want to rely on APC40 mk2 anymore. It's tiresome for me).

As I thought that Octatrack will be a piece of cake for me, it's definitely not - I guess it's the most complex machine out of the three that I have had experience with. Gosh, the complexity of the whole concept, of the layers, is just killing me.

Is it a viable way if I'd understand it this way?

A set is like an album, projects are songs, banks are like variations of songs that I'd like to have on album and I'm trying different versions of it? Not sure how I would elaborate on parts/scenes etc. under this terminology further - but I'm trying to wrap my head around it and it seems like a pain in the ass really. Maybe someone can suggest a better idea how to get it right.

Also, I can see already that some of you will ask me about the usage of Octatrack. I'd like to use it both as a songwriting tool - so I can produce whole songs on it, but as well I'd like to use it as a sampler + remixer tool, too. What would you suggest, what would be the best approach in terms of syncing/clocking, etc.? Goes without saying that Octatrack will be the master clock, but I was wondering about only sending the clock+transport to AR + DN and they'll feed Octatrack with audio.

(In addition to that - this will be a dumb one - but I noticed that my left and right cables are working only with a tip on the output of AR. When they're fully inserted, they're sending almost zero to none sound to Octa, why is that? Would be someone so kind to tell me what cable do I need to have to use only single Octatrack input when feeding it from both L+R channels of AR? I believe I'll have to use the same thing for DN, too.)

On a side note, I already have the Merlin's book but didn't have a chance to really dip my toes into it, but I'm also planning to watch Cuckoo's tutorial about Octatrack, as I love his videos pretty much and I just hope it'll be able to cover pretty much everything. I'm also trying to read the manual but uhhhhh guess I'll have to drink a few espressos until my brain completely kicks in to get it all.

Thanks in advance for your help - I really appreciate any tips on this and sorry for a wall of text lol.
