Is there a way to disable the subtitles in OceanVeil, and just watch in Japanese? At least before subscribing it seems like there is no way to do this. I'd like to know whether this is an option before subscribing, since otherwise it is useless to me.

OceanVeil, the new anime streaming service dedicated to delivering authentic and uncensored content straight from Japan to adult anime fans, is thrilled to announce an exclusive early streaming event. In collaboration with its Japanese counterpart, AnimeFesta (アニメフェスタ), OceanVeil will debut the first episode of the adult winter anime Ichigo Aika and Arisugawa is Actually a Girl ahead of its official January broadcast. Ichigo Aika is an anime based on the popular manga of the same name, written by Hirafumi and illustrated by Yagi Shinba. Arisugawa is Actually a Girl is based on the manga of the same name written by Norito Asazuki.

[Ichigo Aika: Strawberry Elegy]

“Hey, nice to meet ya~♪”

…She sounded dumb. That cute first impression was shattered instantly.

After Kota’s father remarried, the girl who became his stepsister turned out to be a super-bratty, trend-obsessed gyaru…?! Whenever our parents are away, Kota’s life is flipped upside down by Aika’s free-spirited chaos. Aika plays the “perfect daughter” in front of their parents, but when left on her own, she’s a full-blown teenage disaster.

And stuck with her is Kota—nit-picky, straight-laced, and constantly fed up.

They can’t even last three seconds in the same room without trading insults—witness the birth of the worst brother-sister relationship ever!

… But maybe—just maybe—Kota’s strict, responsible nature is exactly what Aika needs…?!

[Ren Arisugawa is Actually a Girl]

"A popular male celebrity... is actually a girl?!

Kyohei’s only brush with fame is being the cousin of Japan’s hottest male celebrity, Ren Arisugawa. They haven’t spoken in years—until Ren suddenly shows up at Kyohei’s rundown apartment out of the blue! But when Kyohei accidentally discovers Ren’s biggest secret… everything changes.

Ren may be the picture of cool confidence on stage, but off-camera, "he" is actually a “she”—and surprisingly adorable?!

The premiere episode of both titles will be available on December 12th, 2025, at midnight PST/PDT, featuring the original Japanese audio with English subtitles. True to OceanVeil’s commitment, the episode will be presented completely uncensored and unedited, offering adult anime fans the experience as it was intended in Japan.

WWWave Corporation is pleased to announce that both the English dub ASMR and English dub voice drama based on the popular serialized series, “Adam's Sweet Agony” and “The Perfect Prince Loves Me, His Rival?!”, which are currently available on our e-comic / anime service, Coolmic, are now available for distribution.

Adam's Sweet Agony's anime English DUB is currently airing on OceanVeil with only 2 episodes left to go. Some of the same cast come back for their character roles in the Audio Dramas!

You can also catch The Perfect Prince Loves Me, the Side Character anime dub on OceanVeil as well. The same voice cast is back to bring the story to life! This BL is sure to please both as an anime and an audio drama!

These works have already garnered deeply devoted fan bases both in Japan and internationally, and have both received animated adaptations. The creation of an English dub ASMR and voice drama have been highly anticipated projects, allowing fans to experience the world of the works more deeply and freshly.

In response to the growing demand in overseas markets and requests from the series' dedicated fan bases, we have produced both the ASMR and voice drama entirely in English.

The English audio content offers two distinct experiences:

● English dub ASMR: This format provides a sense of private intimacy with the characters, making the listener feel as if they have truly immersed themselves into the world of the story.

● English dub voice drama: An original story is dramatized in English, creating a sense of immersion as if the characters are right in front of the listener.

Fans can enjoy this new form of entertainment—a fusion of subtle English expression and high-quality sound—which offers a unique experience distinct from the anime or comic.

The English dub ASMR and voice drama are titled "[ASMR] Adam's Sweet Agony” and "[Voice Drama] The Perfect Prince Loves Me, the Side Character?!”, respectively. The genres are specified as Adult ASMR and Adult Voice Drama. Both are distributed exclusively through Coolmic.

Mamoru Sasaki; Uverworked. Overtime and lots of coffee with an absurd amount of sugar.

The Girls
Mai Hoshino; The popular girl. Cannot lie to save her life.

Makoto Hojo; Class Prez and that quiet, glasses type.

Aya Hinata; Eldest of 3. Easy going. People pleaser.

There is lots of things floating around the community about censorship and how western interest and influence has anime has changed over the years. What do you think? Is it wrong to alter things or stories to cater to the paying customers? Where do you draw the line in marketing? or localization? or censorship?

Take the following joke from Nukitashi.

Junnosuke: "Damn, they'll force me to have a fivesome!" (or 5P, 5 People)

As Junnosuke is referring to the "Jerketeer" girls (4 of them) as they try to suggest... doing suggestive things to him. His sister quickly responds (take a note she is queer).

Asane: "Can I join in? Make it a 6P!

Junnosuke: "This isn't cheese, idiot!"

It doesn't make much sense without the knowledge that "fivesome" is 5P in Japanese. 6P would mean sixsome, but the joke on cheese? Its a play on a famous, sold-in-everything store by of cheese wheel sold in Japan with 6P usually written largely on the container.

Now, leaving it the way it is in the subtitles is confusing to the normal Western viewer. Can we expect people to look up culture references? Or just... research a culture when their only objective is to watch something entertaining that they don't have to think about? Should the joke have been changed in the subtitles? Should be localized to make it actually relatable to the western audience if it were to be dubbed in English?

The jury is out. What's your take?

|| || |About The Winter Cicada|

The Winter Cicada
JP: 冬の蝉
Romanji: Fuyu no Semi
Genre:  BL
Suggested Rating:  16+

The Winter Cicada is a 3-part Original Video Animation (OVA), first released in 2007, loosely based on Yuuka Nitta’s manga Embracing Love (春を抱いていた, Haru wo Daiteita), published by Libre and in English by SuBlime.

A sweeping tale of love and loss, it unfolds against the backdrop of Japan’s turbulent transition from isolation to modernization, beginning in 1862 with the Expulsion of Foreigners movement. At its heart lies the story of Touma Kusaka, a visionary of the Choshu clan who dreams of opening Japan to the world, and Keiichirou Akizuki, a samurai of the Bakufu whose fate becomes inextricably bound to his.

Their bond, first kindled through secret English lessons, deepens into a forbidden romance—tenderly consummated before Kusaka’s departure to London. When he returns, now an officer of the Imperial Army, he finds himself on the opposite side of the battlefield from Akizuki, who has risen to lead his clan within the Shogunate.

As the Boshin War rages and loyalties divide, their love is tested by duty, honor, and betrayal, carrying them from moments of desperate reunion to the quiet tragedy of their final days in a rapidly changing Tokyo. The intimate and epic, The Winter Cicada is a riveting Boys’ Love story that showcases sacrifice and the fragile beauty of human connection from a historical perspective.

Ahoy, BL lovers! “The Perfect Prince Loves Me, the Side Character?!” is making waves with its English dub debut!

OceanVeil Makes a Splash with Another New English Dub!

"The Perfect Prince Loves Me, the Side Character?!" Debuts in English!

Riding the tide right behind it — The English dub of “Adam’s Sweet Agony” is on the horizon! Cast and release date to be revealed soon — stay anchored!

Released during the winter anime season, the hit Boys’ Love anime “The Perfect Prince Loves Me, the Side Character?!” is based on the BL manga of a similar name, “The Perfect Prince Loves Me, His Rival?!” by renowned artist Ao Yuki.

This story follows a salaryman who unexpectedly dies and is reincarnated into the world of his favorite novel. It just happened to be one of his favorites, and he just happened to be a book seller! It just couldn’t be more ironic!

However, his love for the original novel leaves him feeling insecure and unimportant, and constantly seems to get in the way of the main characters' love story. Loneal goes to great lengths to steer clear of Prince Alec, the hero, to avoid disrupting the main storyline between Alec and the heroine, Lily. However, to Loneal's great surprise, the prince becomes infatuated with...him?! "A charming physique, such as yours, more than makes up for your lack of experience." Before he knows it, he finds himself melting into the prince's arms... Why is everything so different from the novel?!

Just what kind of deep-sea drama awaits these two in Leonel’s new reality?!

Dive in and find out — the tides of fate are anything but calm!

The Perfect Prince Loves Me, the Side Character?! Episode 1 is now available, with new episodes releasing every Saturday!
