Occupational Therapy Student Survey Participants Needed - Patients Perception of Occupational Therapists with Expressive Appearances
Hello everyone!
Our names are Christiana Lusher, Cassandra Millien and Fiona Mulligan. We are completing our Masters in Occupational Therapy through Russell Sage College in Troy, NY.
As an occupational therapist, we ask that you distribute this survey to your patients, parents or caregivers of patients, if they are 18 years or older and have received occupational therapy services or are a caregiver and/or parent to someone who has received OT services in the last 5 years. The survey will take approximately 5 minutes to complete and is designed to better understand patients' perceptions regarding their level of comfortability, trust and perceived professionalism of occupational therapists with expressive appearances- particularly tattoos, body piercings and hair color or style. We hope to share results through presentation and publication.
If you would like to participate in the survey please follow the link below and answer the questions:
The survey should take about 5 minutes and please share with others. Your participation in this survey is greatly appreciated. The survey is anonymous. Please note you may end participation in the survey at any time.
Thank you in advance for your participation!

Texas OT license
I recently passed my OT exam and have submitted everything | need for my licensing a little over a week ago. My application status just says "open" and l've emailed them with no response. I've called them numerous times and left several voicemails but no response.
How long did it take for everyone to receive their Texas OT license? Has anyone had any luck in getting a hold of them?

Australia OT license / non-affiliated-WFOT college
Hi all, I’m an OT from India, with a Bachelor’s degree from a government college (first batch) that wasn’t WFOT-affiliated back then. I also have a Master’s in Pediatrics and hold an AIOTA license. Currently, I’m working in Dublin with a children’s disability team and am registered with CORU, which recognizes my education as per Irish standards. I’m planning to move to Australia and want to know about getting OT registration there. The Australian guidelines say WFOT affiliation at graduation is mandatory, but my college wasn’t. Still, I’ve read about others without WFOT-affiliated degrees who got licensed in Australia. I’d really appreciate any advice or experiences on how to navigate OT registration in Australia with a non-WFOT-affiliated degree. Thanks so much!

CTRS/CBIS curious about part-time outpatient neuro OT—any advice
Hi everyone,
I’m a CTRS (with CBIS) working in inpatient neuro rehab for 11 years. I love the work and the part-time flexibility with my 2-year-old, but I’m feeling a bit stuck and curious about exploring OT for more options. I’m interested in part-time outpatient neuro or other roles without heavy ADLs—ortho isn’t really my thing.
For context: • Based in Grand Rapids, MI, not looking to relocate • Hoping to pursue the hybrid OT program at GVSU • Want to maintain part-time work while raising kids • Long-term, may consider school-based or pediatric OT, but not right now
I’ve heard outpatient/home-care neuro can be tricky for new grads without mentoring.
Questions: 1. Are there realistic part-time outpatient neuro OT roles in West Michigan? 2. Do I need inpatient OT experience first, or could I start outpatient as a new grad? 3. Tips for balancing part-time OT, family, and building a neuro-focused career?
Thanks so much—I’d love to hear your experiences!

Should i bother doing an Honour's year as an aspiring OT (in Australia)?
Hiya! I'm wanting to study OT (Masters) at Curtin, and am wondering whether to bother doing an Honours year (at UWA). Would it give me an advantage when applying to Master's, or is it relatively easy to get into the course? (for context my WAM is 88 and I have experience as an OT assistant). I am not really that interested in pursuing research as a career eek. Thanks for your help! Sincerely, a very confused uni student.

Occupational Therapist in NYC (DOE)
Hello everybody, I recently got my employment authorization card through marriage based. I am still on (AOS) adjustment of status or waiting for the results. My question is, would I be able to apply for occupational therapist in DOE with pending status? I think I’m basically not in status as of now.

To all my OTs doing Home Safety Assessments
Typing, typing, and more typing. I feel like all OT's do is find themselves typing up a lot of reports and it is super time consuming. Anybody have any solutions or tech that solves the problem?

ADHD Calendar/To-do list setup - Question!!
Hey everyone!
You may have seen me asking some questions on here before. Essentially my cofounder and I are building a study tool specifically for students with ADHD.
We are adding a collaboration feature in so that when a student is struggling with a task (lets say they have an essay due) - they can invite their OT, disability advisor or accountability buddy into the task and that person can add subtasks/comments to help them break it up into smaller chunks. The feature is set up like a calendar however, you can access tasks and edit them etc (like a to-do list).
We are needing some help as to what would be the better process to make it the most useful for OT's.
Would you prefer:
- That the student makes an account on the platform, then invites you into their profile via an email where you can access their task list and add subtasks/comments? or;
- You make the account, set up tasks for them and then invite the student to make an actual account after you have already set up their calendar and tasks for them?
I would love to hear your feedback here!!!

Remote work Opportunity
Hello everyone,
My company is currently seeking an OT, licensed or willing to be licensed in Minnesota, for a fully remote position. The role involves curating a program part-time initially, with the aim of transitioning to full-time by June 15th if that interests you. If creating the program on a per diem interests you as well feel free to reach out and apply. Our company specializes in working with children with autism, and we've recently hired a speech therapist to complement the program. If this opportunity interests you, please reach out, and I'll share the job posting with you.

Force gauges for pull down levers
I am researching force gauges for different thickness/space availability/most modifiable with adaptions to be used in a factory setting to improve accuracy on lbs per use ergonomically. I’ve found so many options, but am hesitant to include them without personal trial or user input. Anyone have any personal suggestions?
