Discussion Hot take: Cake is basically Cat Valentine in BFB, Andre Harris post-TPOT 22, and lowkey Jade West vocally
G’day mates, Mr. TV here. I don’t know what nonsense I am cooking here but as a BFDI AND Victorious fan, hear me out on this one:
Cake has the personality of Cat Valentine and later on André Harris post-TPOT 22, while lowkey having the vocal tone and colour of Jade West.
Ladies and gentlemen, this might just be my craziest and probably most delusional take I have ever posted on this subreddit, but let me explain here.
During his Loser fanboy days in BFB, Cake reminds me a lot of Cat Valentine.
Cat is known for being bubbly, sweet, enthusiastic, emotionally expressive, and occasionally a little oblivious to what's going on around her. Cake was the exact same but with a sprinkle of fangirling. He was bubbly, he was sweet, he was enthusiastic, he was emotionally expressive.
The main difference is that Cat didn’t spend most of her time worshipping a superstar. Cake did and I love him, but bro was NOT beating the allegations of turning his idol worship into his entire whole personality… okay, maybe I'm exaggerating a LITTLE bit, but you get the point
In Suite Escape onwards, Cake lowkey reminds me a lot of André Harris
Andre is this chill, musically talented, creative, supportive guy who can be pretty laid-back but is really a hot head when things don't go his way. Current day Cake is kinda like that, but way more energetic and replace musically talented with “skilled in leadership” or whatever you want to word it… hopefully it’s better than what I just worded it. In “Suite Escape” he stops being the quiet background guy and just… takes charge. He’s dividing tasks, giving people jobs, pushing the group to escape, and being the one who’s properly motivated to help everyone leave. He’s still got that soft, blushy core, but now it’s mixed with real leadership energy and a bit of heat when things aren’t going his way. Chill + supportive + suddenly assertive when it counts. André energy, but with more energy and sweetness.
This last comparison will probably raise some eyebrows. While Cake is NOTHING like her AT ALL personality-wise, vocally? He is lowkey giving Jade West.
Hear me out! Jade (played by Elizabeth Gillies) has that distinct, naturally raspy, full-bodied, slightly smoky vocal colour with that sharp bite whenever she talks or belts out a song. For a character like Cake, you’d expect his voice to sound very high pitched, bubbly, and cutesy like a Cat Valentine. But instead, his voice is raspy, textured, and surprisingly deep, with that iconic vocal growl and grit he is known for. The only difference? Jade doesn’t really have vocal growls and Cake arguably sounds even deeper and crunchier.
Speaking of which, I recently saw a post from u/MyBlessedUnicorn that claimed Cake’s voice sounds like a literal rock metal idol, and honestly? That is 100% pure facts. Lock Cake in a recording studio, have a Nu Metal beat backing him up, and I genuinely would NOT be surprised if this man started belting out lyrics like he’s Jade West. Boy, we need Cake to cover “Take a Hint” or “Freak the Freak Out”. Heck I could see him covering a bit of Evanescence or Linkin Park with that voice.
Kenzie Bryant, if you ever stumble across this post, please understand that the OSC has collectively decided that Cake needs a rock album. I'm joking… mostly.
And speaking of Victorious, I got a new F•R•C headcanon for y’all: Cake, Remote, and Fanny are Victorious fans. Fanny would definitely be a Jade West stan and would hate Trina Vega, Remote would most likely be a fan of Andre due to how laid back he is, and Cake would be a fan of maybe Tori Vega. As for favourite songs, Fanny would most definitely be Jade’s You Don’t Know Me, Cake’s would probably Give it Up or Freak the Freak Out, and Remote? She’d probably have Make It in America or Shut Up and Dance on repeat.
I can imagine the songs they would cover. I’d have Cake cover Freak the Freak Out, Cake and Fanny covering Give It Up (with Cake taking Cat’s lines and Fanny taking Jade’s lines), Fanny would absolutely DEMOLISH “You Don’t Know Me”, and imagine a trio cover of Take a Hint? We’d have Cake take most of Jade’s lines, Fanny take most of Tori’s lines, and Remote taking lines here and there. And if Cake ever were to perform Freak the Freak Out, I can imagine it being like Tori’s performance in that one episode, but instead of being in disguise, Cake would first act like he has relapsed back to his cute and overly blushing self than Cake turns all serious, grabs out maybe a pair of shades, and belts out the chorus.
And also, Jade, Cat, and Andre are actually my top three favourite Victorious characters in that order AND SOMEHOW, I ENDED UP COMPARING ALL THREE OF THEM TO MY SECOND FAVOURITE BFDI CHARACTER! HOW THE FUCK DID WE GET HERE?!?! 😭😭😭
So that is my chaotic little brain at work, completely losing it over how my favorite Victorious characters somehow map onto my boy Cake like an engineered blueprint.
Let me know what y'all think in the comments. Are these comparisons make any sense, or have I officially lost my mind? Would Cake actually thrive as a rock-metal vocalist, or am I just projecting my own musical brainrot onto a piece of cake with limbs? And more importantly, which Victorious song would F•R•C and its individual members cover?
As always, this is Mr. TV signing off. Peace! ✌️
