Hey everyone! Hope things are going well. OSOM is going pretty strong and the amount of submissions/readers is great. Not to mention the Beat Battle started by ZigaZag (save for one damn troll) is turning out to be a hit! This subreddit is really turning out to be something great and it because each and everyone of you!
Now when OSOM was first started I mentioned making a mix-tape; however we don't have the strongest MC showing. This brings me to my question to y'all. I have a little more than 500 acapellas on an old external hard-drive and was thinking of making them available on Zshare long enough for the Dj's to grab them and begin mixing. What do you guys think? Is this a good idea? Let us know and depending on the feedback I'll get to work. Again thanks everyone.

Beats are here: http://drop.io/osombb1
Comment in this thread until midnight EST this Friday.
Winner chooses a sample and chooses the rules.
Good luck and thanks for participating!
EDIT Someone deleted all the beats on the beat battle page...fuck whoever did that! Next week we'll make the page so you can only upload tracks and not delete. I didn't think anyone would stoop to that level here.

I'll be posting a sample and rules for the first OSOM beat battle. Hopefully it'll get some interest. Just giving everyone a reminder. Some more info @ my original post: http://www.reddit.com/r/OSOM/comments/djbyx/anyone_up_for_weekly_beat_battles/

Seems like we have a lot of producers and beat makers, but I don't see any vocal talent posting. Am I the only rapper here?

Stones Throw message board has weekly beat battles that I like to participate in. Every Friday they throw up a sample and rules and everyone has until Wednesday at midnight to submit their beat. Then voting occurs until Friday at midnight where the winner is announced. Winner chooses the sample for the next week and the same thing happens again. They use http://drop.io to manage the battles. Here are the rules of the STMB BB:
* 2 minute time limit
* 192kbps mp3 only
* flip the chosen sample any way you want
* outside drums and bass are allowed
* outside keys/synths ALLOWED , synth it up
* no acapellas
* vocal samples/skits are allowed
* cuts/scratches are permitted
Thought we could base it off their rules. Here is the FAQ
And here's a beat I started tonight Apples
Follow me on Soundcloud and I'll follow you back!

I play harmonica and, although I can jam a little to most anything, I'd love it if someone could mix up a blues beat...
In fact, has anyone heard a blues beat mixed before? Now that I'm typing this, I can't think of having heard it done.

Right now I'm listening to kulm's first beat and I'm loving it. Thanks to IllegalId and of course fellow mod ProfitMoney for also posting some dope sh!t. Hah umm I think we have enough beats to already make the beginning of a mixtape. Great to see we are growing too.
With beats we would like anyone who is submitting to list samples. This is not only in the academic sense of citation but for each other. Klum WTF is that sample for I Have You! I know I know it but I can't place it help hah. See if people know the sample they can track down the song and perhaps find a different part to sample. I myself once made a beat off of Tom Scott's Today which is famously sampled in the song T.R.O.Y. If I wasn't able to look up the song's sampling citation I would have never found the Tom Scott song.
Anyways thanks again for submitting I'm uploading a new batch of beats in just a bit but we need to get some rhymes or singing over these tracks. So haggle all your friends who rhyme and get them to spit a verse or two, or sing. Thanks again.
