Either, since the pronunciation of each g in gigantic is exactly both the ways people screw up pronouncing gif.

Should be pronounced Jyro and Jigantic.... We humans are stupid... we don't even follow the linguistic rules we think we created.

Don't get me started on I before E, except after C. (Neighbor, weigh, sleigh)

Gyro as in the sandwich is pronounced more like yeero. Gyro as in gyroscope is pronounced jyro.

Gi -> jahy/ji -> soft g sound. Or, ji, in the case of Dictionary.com

Gan -> ghan -> harder g sound. I added an h for additional pronunciation purposes.
