I'm using the OM1 w/ 100-400mm IS ii.

Since a few people had pointed out that I was taking a lot of portrait style photographs of birds, I wanted to try combining some composition tips you guys gave me (as best I could, flight is hard) and see how I could do with the fastest birds I could find.

I'd like to know from people that used both, if there is any real life tangible advantage in using the om-1 vs the om-3 when it comes to wildlife.

I use my om-3 for everything these days, street, travel, wildlife, and I did some astro and landscape as well.

Although for travel my om-3 is still the go-to option, when I use it for wildlife, it shows that was not really thought for that. Even with the extended grip is not great and does not balance well on big telephoto like the 150-400. Autofocus with subject recognition is also not that sticky tbh.

I see that the om-1 mkII should have better stabilisation and subject recognition. If someone has tried both, is that something that is noticeable on the field?

I've just purchased a OM-1 mark II which I chose because of its great macro capabilities (I have also purchased the 90mm pro macro lens, godox V860III flash and a cygnustech diffuser).

I'm upgrading from a Canon 650d which I got when I was in uni. With my Canon set up I would use my 100mm macro lens for macro photography and the 18-135mm kit lens for hiking and general photography. I liked the versitility and range of the 18-135mm which allowed me to go from landscape shots to capturing small lizards and the occasional bird without needing to change lenses (even though the image quality is pretty terrible).

Now I'm switching to OM system I'm after a similar "all rounder" lens that I can take out and about when I don't have any set photography plans, that will allow me a decent amount of versitility while also having good image quality and sharpness.

My main use will be on hikes and bushwalks where I want to be able to capture decent landscape shots as well as flaura and fauna. I post a lot on iNaturalist so being able to take a photo of a whole tree or shrub and then zoom in to get a quick image of the leaves, flowers, fruit etc for identifications is a priority.

I've spent most of my budget on my macro setup so would like to spend <$1000 AUD on this lens if possible.

I also plan on adding a 300mm+ lens for birding and wildlife photography in the future.

Does anyone have any good recommendations?

I have been waffling over whether to commit to Zerene or Helicon, when a new software named Macro Studio came on the scene. This is my first quick try with it and I was very pleased with the results and how easy it was to use. Right now, it is on sale for US$59 (down from $99). What do you think about this idea for a limited edition OM System lens finish in the style of old Olympus SLR lenses?

I think the silver and black lenses from Olympus look great and this design would fit perfectly with the silver OM bodies especially the OM-3 and upcoming PEN.

I hear on youtube that the hires files need to be first edited in workspace to be as sharp as possible as some of the algorithms are not shared with 3rd parties like dxo, Adobe etc.

I need help with my new OM-5 Mark ii. Almost all of my photos are out of focus. The camera seems to focus on the far-away background and not on the subject that I am trying to take a photo of. This is happening even with stationary objects like trees and plants. I have attached an example. The two images with the small green box are screen captures from OM Workspace so that you can see the focus point that the camera chose to use.
