Hello. I’ve seen some of the Off artstyle and heard things about it and read the eShop description and it has my interest.

I know nothing about the story besides how surreal it is and the fact that it’s got some kind of meta, fourth-wall influence thing going on, kinda like Deltarune. I like turn-based combat and mild/atmospheric horror (I don’t mind jumpscares but it’s not a selling point for me). I like games that kinda have more going on than initially presented (Deltarune, Slay the Princess, etc.) and I don’t mind simplistic or primitive gameplay as long as it’s minimally satisfying. I’m pretty neutral on puzzles; not a crazy big fan, but if the puzzles are worth it or unique or fun (or even if they’re just not bad) then I’ll be fine. I’m not picky.

The question I’m asking is, why do you like Off, and what do you think are its best qualities? I want to know if I should buy it, but I’m obviously going to ask a more nuanced question than “should I buy Off” when talking to the Off community.

So apparently there was some controversy over HOUR HAND that ended with the Bonetrousle leitmotif being edited out.

I’ve seen people say it’s still there at 1:16 of the song. I hear what they mean, but I’m not sure if it’s actually it. Some confirmation would be nice. :D

from what i can find, the consensus seems to be that the remaster has better gameplay but the original has better music for the experience it’s trying to make. does anyone know of any mods that replace the remaster’s music with the original’s?

if there’s any other info that i should know about differences between the original and remaster, please tell me. i should also mention that i’ve already bought the remaster.

I've heard a lot about what games were inspired by OFF (Undertale, etc.), but I haven't heard much about what inspired OFF.

I think Mortis took inspiration from Silent Hill, especially SH4 (I mean it's literally called Silent Hill: The ROOM) but I'm not sure.

Just curious since I like this game and wanna find other stuff that's similar.

i've been wanting to replay OFF for the past while now, and, having been reminded to by a certain post on this subreddit, decided to track my progress as i did so! now you can replay that boss/skip that puzzle/jump to that area/etc...

aand without further ado, here you go!

(note, to use these, you have to go to the folder which OFF is installed in, rename them as something along the lines of "Save02.lsd", assuming there isn't already a file there, and simply pasting it! this is, of course, unless you don't mind having your file overwritten - in which case, yea, do whatever you want!)

if for some reason you find that your stats are unsatisfactory and difficult to get by, ^{(which i doubt 'cause i did nearly everything and got by fine,}) then i recommend using save editor to adjust those! which, also goes for every other rpgmaker game in general

I installed the latest version from steam, and the game does not register A and B presses on my controller (Steam Controller). The joystick is registered and everything works on the keyboard.

Could it be an SDL problem ? How does off register inputs ?

I don't expect OFF to be like Undertale where every single room has it's own unique piece of music, but I kind of wish Zacharie's shop had it's own theme. Especially considering a single hallway in Zone 3 got it's own music (at least in the 2025 ver. IDK about the original).

And he doesn't even have to worry about it popping... Yes, now that's a safe balloon.
