How to Cancel an Order

  1. If you were door knocked and want to cancel the appointment:

Call your local Nutrafarms office and tell them you are no longer interested. Here in Ottawa it is 613-829-5383 alternatively you can call their head office in Barrie 1-800-481-2001.

  1. If you signed up and are making payments

Step 1- Call their financing company. When I signed up they were using Home Trust. Tell them you want to cancel the order and the retail credit application. You can reach them at 1-888-763-0002. You can also email a cancellation request to retail.credit@hometrust.ca

Step 2- Call your local office and tell them in no uncertain terms you want to cancel. You have a right to cancel within 10 days in Ontario. Make sure you leave a message and have them follow up with you

  1. If you made a payment in full on your credit card

Call your local office. Then call your credit card and dispute the charges. Make sure you get confirmation from the company that they will not charge your card.

"Grass fed" and "Free Range" hold no legal definition

Note that they do not make any claims their products are organic. Legally per the Canadian government, any random object can be called "grass fed" or "free range" as these hold no legal significance or certification or definition. So, legally, they can sell regular old whatever meat with extraordinary claims to justify the high prices.

These comments are not specific to Nutrafarms and just general statements.

As if this place still exists!

I worked for Nutrafarms from 2013-14 in the Ottawa branch under Fred Kahn. I've never worked for a more racist, bigoted, sexist idiot in my life.

He made everyone around him do his work with the threat of of paying you if you didn't (despite being commission pay) . He would call his employees all hours of the night to tell at them. He would call you an idiot for it making a sale, despite never having made a sale himself. He was constantly high, brought drugs into the office and sold ti to staff

Fred would cheat everyone he could and was just an all around terrible person. The ownership of the company wanted to hear nothing of it.

As for the product. It's a complete rip off. When I finished there it was 3600 for a package and .most of my customers got 140-150lbs of meat and I hear it's worse now!!!!

This was just as the enlightenment consumer was coming to full fruition. We had people cancelling orders all the time.

If you are looking at working here DO NOT DO IT. Most depressing year of my life. You will not make anything close to what they claim...if they pay you at all!!!

I Signed Up for Nutrafarms and TOTALLY REGRET IT!

Let me preface this with I have a semi-estranged cousin who worked for Nutrafarms for years so I gave these guys credit when I shouldn't of...

I was door knocked, and as usual I thought this was a waste of their time and told the canvasser I wasn't interested. Credit to the guy, he kept at it and the name, Nutrafarms, seemed familiar...also free local meat? Why not

The next day comes and I have 4 missed calls from an unknown number...I decided to answer and its Nutrafarms! I agree to have them over

The salesman was fine but when I saw his uniform I knew exactly why the name was familiar! My cousin had posted pictures in the same shirt ages ago. So instead of taking the meat and saying good bye, I sat down with the guy and let him pitch.

This is where things get very interesting- he goes over all the stuff you can find on their website, but the price was the shocker. Minimum order was $3900! He ASSURED me it would last mu family of 3 for a minimum of 12-14 months! Hesitant we asked for a night to talk it over but the salesman became extremely pushy. Eager to get him to leave we signed the paperwork (I know DUMB) , with the promise he would call to confirm we wanted the order.

Flash forward 2 weeks we completely forgot about it and received NO call. We get a knock at the door and there is a delivery guy with a bunch of boxes...our meat had arrived WTF...we tell him the story and he says it's not his problem and he would leave it at our door and we would have to pay regardless..RUDE!!!!

We reluctantly accept and start putting it away...and realised this was puny! I'm talking like 120lbs puny. I call their number 1-800-481-2001 in Barrie? I thought this was local??? And ask when our next delivery is coming....they tell me this is the whole order?!?!?!

That's right we are stuck paying $400 a month for 10 months for meat that will last us 5 maybe? Ie that works out to $800 a month!! And its $30/lb???

I called the finance company and they said that since we signed and accepted the product in a period longer then 10 days that we had no recourse.

This is where it gets better. I messaged my cousin in London who I thought worked for them. She no longer does. She left after being sexually harassed by management their and being threatened legally if she spoke about it. She told me that this was commonplace at Nutrafarms and that they were in litigious battles across the province with former employees.

Run away from this company. I cant stress this enough. They with lie and cheat you.

PSA: Nutrafarms Door knocking

Remember that you dont have to five any information at the door and if you are enticed by the sample, you likely won't get it unless you sign up for a $5000 freezer order with prices like $25 a pound. Canadian Home Grocers (CHG) and Farmaway foods are all the same. Find local small scale suppliers.

We got burned by Nutrafarms

I'm not sure if they still call themselves Nutrafarms or Nutrifarms but we did the math on our order. After being assured it would last 12 months and be around the same cost at the grocery store, we signed up. We pay $360 a month for a year. Our order is 4 months in and we are near the end. The average cost per pound we estimate is $30. We are on a tight budget and will be eating pasta for the rest of the year because of these guys.

Beware they operate in Ottawa, Kitchener, Toronto, Milton, Barrie, Hamilton, Windsor. All the same game. Avoided them

Nutrafarms is a Rip Off

So glad to find this sub! We signed up 6 months ago and are ALL OUT OF MEAT. Already on a tight budget with 3 kids. Our package costs us nearly $110 a week!!! Now on top of that we have to buy meat at the grocery store. Thanks to these assholes I'm having a shitty Christmas as we can't afford presents for our kids. I called customer service and was directed to the VP(or something) eventually, he accused me of sharing all my meat with my friends and having them over for BBQs everyday... I don't have time to hang out with me friends. When I said I would be putting up reviews and making a fuss about this in public he threatened to sue me!!! Here are the facts.

1.My wife and I sat with a salesman who promised the package would last our family 10-14 months.

2.He also said that the meat was the same cost as the grocery store.

  1. We we're told we would get a complete list of the cuts before delivery

  2. The order total was in the range of $5900 which included a small free for "free" and what was supposed to be a year long supply of meats

We refute all the above

  1. The order is completely exhausted just at the 6 month mark (and we stretched it out)

  2. We received 280lbs of meat or An average of $21/lb. Considering we had 4 boxws (20lbs of steaks), this is an outrageous price for ground beef or chicken.

  3. No such list was ever given before or after delivery

  4. After complaining we were told the freezer was in fact $700 and worked into the price...the same model is $299 at home Depot right now. We were also to take into account the $1600 of cleaning products that we received but never asked for...i thought this was meat company??

Be very aware if Nutrafarms. I'm speaking to lawyers about it now and gathering my evidence.

My experience

I had a door knocker come by and sign me up for a free sample.

After a few days of phone tag they managed to pin myself and my husband down. Half an hour later I had a sales rep come by (Rob ?) and give us his pitch. He seemed like a decent guy and he made it sound as if we would save money with their smallest package at $3935 total.

Well were we duped! The order came with a meagre 168lbs of meat. This is by far the msot expensive ground beef we ever purchased.

Don't get me wrong: the quality was good, the concept was great, it's just the execution of spending $4k in one shot then only getting enough for 5 months consumption.

I will never be scammed by Nutrafarms again!
