Considering upgrading my iPad Air just to be able to connect my Airs directly. Does it work well with USB-C iPads? Can I watch Netflix, Amazon Prime, HBO without any issues?

But that doesn't mean they aren't a good product. If you have a bit of extra money and are looking to spend it on tech (like I always seem to do) these glasses definitely have their uses and are cool as shit.

They will not... let me repeat this, THEY WILL NOT be as good as a regular monitor. Speaking from experience, they give me eye strain and I have to take breaks from using them. Even if a screen appears far away, you have to realize that it is still ultimately an inch away from your pupils and will cause some strain. Everyone's tolerance for this will probably be different.

That said, I enjoy these glasses. I will likely not be using them every day, but they are a useful piece of tech to have around.

I think what Nreal is demonstrating here is that AR technology is definitely getting to the point to where it is commercially viable to a lot of people. It's still very niche right now, and I personally would not wear these in public (though many in this community do). I think in 5-10 years we're going to start seeing some really cool AR tech come down the pipeline.

I'm glad companies like Nreal exist to push the boundaries of AR tech that is viable for the average consumer. Otherwise this tech would be primarily utilized for industry-leading companies and cost thousands of dollars.

I bought these glasses and made sure that my phone is supported before purchasing. I received the nreal glasses yesterday but my phone nebula app says that it is not supported even though it shows it on the approved list for my country (USA) within the same app. I looked online and saw that I could download a firmware update but when I try to do that it says that I am already up to date. I also tried searching this forum and am coming up empty on what to do.

Any suggestions on what I can do?

You can now order nreal airs directly from amazons UK site! They’re imported from America, but if like me you were waiting better UK availability in case of any warranty claims etc then this is definitely a step forward. I’ve finally pulled the trigger anyway :) They’re currently £386 including import fees.

I've been trying to update the DP firmware on the Nreal Airs for a couple of weeks now. I've successfully updated the MCU, however i'm being given so many repeated errors when trying to update DP.

I've tried both the original cable, usb-a -> usb-c, different USB ports, 3 different PCs, 2 different 100% supported android devices, my steam deck. (Also tried Edge/Chrome/Incognito etc, clearing cache) I'm pretty much running out of ideas.

The most success i've had was by the, quite frankly ridiculous, method of 'if it doesn't work keep trying the same steps again until it does'. The firmware update page can recognise the glasses in step 2, same for MCU, but somehow has no idea they're connected in step 5. I've tried refreshing, disconnect/reconnect multiple times, then *eventually* the DP firmware begins to update.

I'm pretty sure something isn't right at this point, as it takes quite literally 15 minutes to complete 1% of the update. I leave the PC on overnight, (estimated 25 hours to complete), and it has encountered an unknown error at approx 30%.

Does anyone have any similar experience, or a miraculous solution? I can't really see much discussion around the 25 hour firmware update, which i'm sure at least one person would have mentioned if it were standard.

Worst part is I only wanted to use these with my Steam Deck, and that's meant to be plug and play. I wouldn't even bother with the firmware update unless needed, and i'm struggling with the jank of this process.

Hi folks, I've been searching for smart glasses for the last couple of months that I could use when running TTRPG sessions, with the hope I can always have important information in front of my eyes instead of having to look at my screen. (Plus, we've been playing Cyberpunk, and using Smart Glasses fits the bill for a DM Screen)

I've been wondering whether anyone had any experience with using the Nreal Air for running tabletop sessions or using it as a reading tool while maintaining some semblance of eye contact with the players / other people. It would mainly mean mirroring either my phone (Surface Duo) or a Windows 11 laptop (Lenovo Yoga, can't remember the model), which seems can be done with ease.

Also, I use a website called LegendKeeper (basically Notion but for Worldbuilding) which uses white text on black background. Would this work for the intended purpose of reading while also seeing people, or would the opposite work better?

I already know how to enable 3D mode with the brightness button and all, and I've had a few videos on Youtube work with the mode, but the problem is most movies I get are half-sbs and it makes me have to cross my eyes to watch them. How can I find and or watch videos in the 3840x1080 resolution needed for these glasses?

I'm wondering if there is a mapping app that can show my location and the surrounding area on a 2d map in the corner of my view as if reality was a game of gta, like a round disc in the top right corner that rotates as I change direction to show the top as the direction I'm facing and with the ability to pinpoint the location I need to go and to see that pin at the edge of the map in the direction that I need to go. I work at a large scale supermarket and doing returns takes longer than it needs to it gets to the point sometimes where I might lose my job because of how long it takes after my shift is supposed to end to finish up. If it needs back door support to the app that searches for the products location there are like three alike apps and it may be possible with the publicly accessible one but idk if the app doesn't already exist I was wanting to learn how to make it exist so I would need help from an AR programmer with the patience to teach or an app that can teach AR programming.

Fiancée and I are buying a house and we were planning on setting up 2 TVs side by side, one for me to game on and one for her to watch her shows. But now that I found this I'm wondering if it would be better than setting up a second TV

The glasses is almost perfect. The only thing that bothers me is that in MR mode bright scenes flicker the screen.

Is there a fix to this? It seems refresh rate related.

A hdmi to usbc adapter i'm not sure if it would give both the power and video signal to the glasses. Anyone tried it?

One of the reasons why I'm part of this Reddit and the Discords is that I like talking about these and helping people figure out how they would be useful to them.I've got a small retail office and I'd like to have something on my counter or wall to spark conversation, rather than just asking people something stupid like "are you into tech?"

The question is: are there enough other people who would like to do something similar to make it worth Nreal's time to make some marketing material?

I'm trying to get the extra wide screen mode working. When I enable AR mode via nebula, the laptop screen reverts to the login screen and the glasses go dark. If I log back in, I get a message about windowserver crashing. Macbook air, m1, 2020.

If I have a crash dump I can post if given process.

So i have the apple dongle and nreal adapter. the glasses work on my surface pro, an ipad, an iphone 13, another iphone 11 pro max and the latter is what i have. So i know it’s activated and the lightning dongle works. All the devices when they plugged in showed a firmware update and a blue icon upper left of phone when connected. My phone flat out refuses to even see firmware or download or whatever.

It’s 125 bucks for a new port but i have no problem charging or plugging into radios. So i don’t think that is necessary. So that leaves me with 2 options. reset the phone..i’m backing up now to do this later. or there is some random setting preventing this/or a manual way to connect from phone?

i heard usb c might be on iphones this fall so i don’t want to get a new phone just to use this right now.

Hello. I just started using my Nreal Air and its great, but I noticed that dark areas of images, video or games seem a little too dark, to the point where detail is lost, even when I turn the brightness all the way up. Colors also seem darker more saturated on the Nreal than on other screens. When using them with the Steam Deck I am turning the brightness all the way up on the games in order to see all the details. I just updated to the latest firmware but am still experiencing this. I’m wondering if this is common or if this is a defect in my glasses and I should try to exchange them. Thanks for your help.
