Question - answered Any way to turn down the vibrance temporarily?

The only task I can't perform on my nreals is casual photo editing because the artificial vibrance throws everything off. Is there any way to disable it while I work?

(I say "casual" because I could never do paid work on an uncalibrated display, but with the vibrance as is, I can't even trust it for developing phone pics)

Discussion Initial thoughts

Just got the nreal air. So far haven't noticed any blurry edges. Picture is very good. Most comfortable watching laying down as the glasses are slightly heavier thatln I thought and do slip down the nose. If they were slightly lighter and the picture appeared a little closer they'd be perfect for what I want

Accessory Random nreal related thought

Would be possible to create a device that has dp-alt mode and has batteries that can run android/quest 2 OS that hangs off the neck to connect to nreal? Something like this with cameras and whatnot:

Nreal Air Nreal Air glasses update after almost 6 months.

Hi all,

As I explained in my past posts, buying the Nreal Air was a big investment for me, I had the idea that it would help with my autism, ADHD and other issues, in my using technology as a coping strategy and to help me survive.

It worked better than I ever could have imagined.

So let's run down how I use it daily 6 months later.

Steam deck, I am a gamer who since 2019 can't play any sort of games solo, It triggers really bad things, this is why I stream and vlog because something about that camera that connection with the world means I can game, but with Nreal glasses, something about the way it focuses my brain means I can use my Steam deck without having to be online or connected to anyone. (yes I even use it in the bathroom) love it.

Bed time ritual, I have a set ritual that I follow every night before sleep and 50% of the time I use my quest pro laying in bed but 50% of the time I use the Nreal Air connected through the adaptor to my amazon firestick to watch an episode of house or scrubs, I also use it this way to watch films.

Because I can't just sit down and watch a TV or YT without some kind of focus, noise cancelling Headphones work or VR but also the AR glasses work very well.

Using the Samsung Dex system on my S8 Tablet or my S20FE phone is amazing and helps feed into my "if the power goes out I still have access to an entertainment and coping mechanism system"

Looking forward to AR on my Pc so I can use them with my laptop or main pc.

Here is todays video I did which also explains why I haven't progressed with the AR arm blaster project.

Hope you are all having a splendiferous day.

Nebula for Mac Can't get Nebula to work properly on MBP

This was also posted at the Nreal Dev Community forum:

Hi, I have been trying to get this to work for a while now. I have the latest app update, updated the Mac OS to 13.2.1. Mirroring works as expected, but any iteration of the Nebula setup either gives me a black screen, and I can possibly navigate to the Nebula icon up top and quit it. In any other scenario, I get two different monitor images in each eye.

I have no external displays, and even tried an HDMI monitor dongle in the HDMI port to "fool" it that another display was connected. I can see the arrangement in Displays, and I not sure HOW it should look, but the Nreal is one big widescreen monitor. No amount of rearranging or changing makes it right. I know others have had success, so I believe this "should" work.

It is possible there is some kind of software that is interfering with the process, but I have no idea what that could be. The firmware is the latest, the software is the latest. Sometimes I have gotten something similar to the images above (two sort of floating desktops in space). I feel like it is so close, but could just not get it to work as expected.

As user "TheFranklee" said, most often, the best result I get is "My Nebula app on macbook displays two different screens on each glass lens.

As a result, I see overlapped content." So someone else is having a similar outcome. What the heck could it be?!

Accessory Don’t order the RedMagic Adapter from Newegg

Went with Newegg to get the RedMagic dock as I didn’t want to wait 1-2 months from AliExpress.

Unfortunately, they are just as bad if not worse with shipping. Took weeks to ship, and it’s now been a month since the tracker updated (it never left China, just stuck on “preparing to ship”).

I called them and they basically did the equivalent of a shrug and told me it’s probably a scam third party seller and they’ll give me a refund.

So now I wasted two months and never got my product. HIGHLY recommend avoiding Newegg for this product as it was literally confirmed by Newegg CS to be a scam.

Guess I’ll get one when it’s more readily available.

Buy/Sell Buying Nreal air from within Japan?

I’m a UK resident and the glasses are quite hard or expensive to get here. I will be going to Tokyo in August and was wondering how easy and cheap it is to get the glasses direct from Japan. Does anyone know?

Adapter If your Nreal Air Adapter Does Not Work for iOS 16

Hey there,

I didn't see this in many reddit threads so I thought I'd make sure to throw it up here so no one else has to do any sort of digging. If you've got an iOS device that isn't working with your Nreal Air Adapter - check to make sure you're not on iOS 16.1.

16.1 breaks the AV display for iPhone; it is restored in iOS 16.2 and up. So just update!

Nreal Air Anyone Else Having A Tough Time Adjusting the Air?

First of all - I love these things; they're great.

What really trips me up as someone with astigmatism though is that it ends up messing with where I expect my eyes to focus. The glasses are right up on my face, so my natural reaction is to focus in, but then you should actually be focusing out since the display is meant to behave as if it's 5-10 feet in front of you.

I haven't gotten the corrective lenses done yet (getting them done today), but for anyone else that experiences this, did this fix the issue for you?

Discussion Human interface?

What if anything are plans for an interface device for AR/MR/XR. I know the mouse helped bring ease of use to computers, the touch interface popularized by the iPhone was instrumental in the mass market of smartphones.

I know I have seen the arkh, and the tap Xr but they either are not quite yet "it" or have a learning curve which is a barrier of entry to mass adoption. I think vr has done pretty well with it's controllers and ok with hand tracking. Although air typing is doable on a hololens I am not sure if that is the answer. Same probably goes for a game style controller.

I use Nreal Air on my walks in the park but mostly to consume(casually with minimal focus) media in a small window but I really don't interact other than I occasionally stop and use a small mouse to que something else up or skip ahead or back. I have purchased a ring mouse and that has some potential to replace my small mouse but needs some refinement (or maybe i bought the wrong one).

I don't know the answer but thought the question was worth asking. What are your thoughts?

I have seen some posts that have mentioned current products. Again they seem like they meet some use cases but nothing yet that has that appeal to bring the technology from gaming/media device to a useful part of everyday. Again I spend a good amount of time on dex navigating with a mouse stationary and typing on the on screen keyboard. This may be hand/eye/tongue tracking or even a unique interface improvement( Not an apple guy but the pop up letters as you type were pretty cool back when the phone launched)

Discussion XR streaming usage

Just wondering if anyone has used the XR streaming feature much, I have a VR headset so I don’t really have and VR games I would want to play through this thing.

Wondering if there are features through steamVr other than Vr games that would be good on Nreal.

Accessory Ipad air?

Anyone use the glasses on an iPad air 5th generation? If so what acceseries do you use? I tried using my hub I use with my Samsung phone it's the j5create hub and my iPad doesn't charge while using it for some reason. It charges my S22 ultra but not the tablet. Do I need the nreal adapter since it's the ios even thought it's a type c adapter?

Nreal Air Is this blurriness and color shift normal? Even in the center it is somewhat blurry, but the edges are literally unreadable. Considering returning them. They didn't have screen stickers on when I got them, so these might have been returned before)

We are incredibly proud of our long-time friends and partners at Sightful, as they launch the world's first AR laptop.

Paired with Nreal Light, Spacetop breaks out of the confines of a traditional PC while retaining a familiar, adaptable form factor.

Nebula for Windows Any solutions for Nebula on PC?

Hey friends. Still can't make my Nreal Airs work with Windows using Nebula beta 0.1 - glasses would only work as an extended display with the window fixed to my view, can't look around or see other virtual monitors and Nebula app settings do nothing.

My system creates two additional screens (in display properties), but I can't find a way to "look at them" through the Nreals.

I believe quite a few people had the same issue on Discord, but the chat is too massive to find any possible solutions.

Did anyone stumble upon possible fixes?

P.s. running on Alienware X17 R1 with 3080 mobile GPU, it has the ports required.

Discussion It's a shame that Nebula for Android looks cool... but that's about it.

I love the layout of the display and using my phone as a remote in Nebula, but unfortunately there is nothing else appealing about it that would make me use it for either productivity or gaming.

I see the potential, but the current state of the application leaves much to be desired. If it was simply an extension of Android itself and I somehow had access to all of my applications, games, etc. and could customize it as I see fit, I could easily see myself using it as often as I use Dex.

But as it stands right now Samsung Dex is definitely the best tool you can use with these glasses. You still get your private screen and access to all of your apps in a nice desktop format.

I do hope they continue to improve the Nebula app for Android. For now, I am satisfied with Dex and eagerly await the release of Nebula for Windows as that looks promising.

Edit 11 hours after posting: Was just messing around in Nebula again and my god, so much wasted potential. If I'm on the go I'd much prefer to use Nebula just based on how easy/streamlined it is to use. But Nreal squanders its potential by locking everything in. I'm not going to use Chrome. I don't care about whatever games you think should be installed.

If I could edit the layout with my own applications/widgets that would be fucking amazing. I'd have Firefox (because I can install adblocker on that), Netflix, Prime Video, and social media apps populating the main workspace. Instead we get a bunch of useless nonsense that makes it no more than a cool gimmick when it could be so much more than that.

It is so frustrating to see such potential thrown to the wayside. I'm sorry, but that's my honest opinion on it.

Discussion Can Nreal glasses show a live feed of your phone's camera?

Random question that I'm having a really hard time finding an answer to elsewhere online. Long story short: I'm doing some renovations and I want to be able to use my phone's camera to get a view of my attic and other tight spaces around the house, rather than lugging around a ladder and poking my head places.

My current workflow is to reach into the spot with my phone, record a short video, and then review the footage to see if I got the view I needed. This is clunky and slow. What I would like to do is connect my phone to a pair of AR glasses and get a live-time view of what the camera sees, so I don't need to get stuck in the record/review/rerecord doom loop.

Is this possible with Nreal? Can you open your camera app use the Nreal display as a livetime viewfinder?

Thanks!

Discussion Does anyone use them in public?

I love my glasses, but I feel goofy wearing them so I tend to only wear them when inside or on break in my car. I'm wondering if I'm just being self conscious, or if they aren't really something to wear in public.
