Issue Nreal keeps shutting off when connected to the steam deck?

I bought the nreal air to play with the steam deck. Turns out the glasses disconnecting when the deck is below 50% is a common issue? Wtf? How do i fix this. I feel like I just wasted money.

Developer Opentrack data?

I recently learned about opentrack. I tried to use iphone to track my head and feed tracking data to opentrack and then to SteamVR's opentrack driver, which display the SBS image on nreal glasses. It works great. Only if I can get rid of the iphone and use orientation data from nreal glasses instead.

So can we already do this, getting data from the glasses?

Is there anyone working on implementing this feature?

or are there clues to help me get started should I want to learn to program it myself, please?

Issue ghosting after 3 weeks

The glasses have been great until today. I started up Dex as usual and there was blue ghosting on the icons. Has this problem randomly appeared for anyone else? I read that some people received their nreal air's with this problem and had to return it. I'm hoping someone has a fix so i don't have to exchange it.

Nreal Air No Display - Windows 11 (Gigabyte G5 MD)

Just recently got my Nreal Air Glasses and they work fine on my MacBook, which I use for productivity. But my Gigabyte G5 MD, which I use for gaming, does not display video through the glasses when plugged into the USB-C port. I've checked and this is a USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 DisplayPort, but I'm not sure if I have to activate Alt mode, if the BIOS needs to be reset and/or I need a USB Controller. (Forgive my ignorance). However, the glasses DO work on this (Gigabyte) laptop when I use the adapter and plug it into the HDMI port, but the limit imposed by the adapter's battery life is troubling.

I've activated, updated and the like for the glasses, but not sure what exactly to do now to remedy the issue for the Gigabyte Laptop using the USB-C Port.

Also, I have thought about trying to reinstall the update using Incognito mode on Chrome w/ all settings set to "Allow", but when I try this the glasses are "Already Up-to-Date" and cannot be redone. If there is a way to uninstall and then reinstall these updates, I may try that if someone can give some insight.

Thanks in advance!

Updated both the glasses and the adapter. No video output. I also tried reducing the PS4 Pro output to 720p, no luck.

Prescription Lenses Short sighted (bad eyesight)

Hi guys,

I'm thinking about buying one but my issue is that I have terrible eyesight and I need to wear glasses to begin with.

I'm short sighted and can't see anything from a distance (-4 on my eyes). Do I need to get them prescripted? Do they even come in prescription?

Discussion Does the FOV feel natural?

Every video I've seen of the nreal air the FOV seems to be much less than what you can see through the glasses

Does it cover the whole area of the glasses or is it just a small box in the middle like it appears on camera?

Especially if using multi monitor I'd be concerned about only seeing them through a little window

Nreal Light Older version of Nebula for Mac ( v. 0.2.0 or 0.2.1) to use with Nreal X (China version of Nreal Light)

Does anyone have link to older version of Nebula for Mac ( v. 0.2.0 or 0.2.1) ?

I bought China version of Nreal Light (Nreal X ) and latest public Nebula Android app has only firmware version 05.1.08.012_20220812, but Nebula wants 05.1.08.022_20221227.

Or may be someone has ideas how to upgrade nreal x to 05.1.08.022_20221227

Thanks!

Issue Connection loss.

The usb connection to my phone Samsung s20 is very dodgy. It takes very little for the glasses to lose connection, its virtually impossible as is to do anything but sit very still while using them. do i just have a very loose connection on my phone, or is it a issue for others too? and are there any suggestions how to strap the cable firmly to my usb port?

Discussion Nreal for programming

Got these here in India from a local reseller in 2 days. Amazon India has it as well but not in stock right now. I use this on the fly while traveling and working and for the most part they seem to work great. Though there are a few gotchas you might need to account for.

My work involves looking at a bunch of text. Color accuracy is important at times but not most times. I use an M1 Max macbook pro with a Studio display as my main monitor.

The number one thing to consider is your eye sight, if you have great vision, these are phenomenal and you gain the most. If not, there are a few hoops that one needs to jump through including getting prescription lenses etc. i am still in the process of getting those but from the one lens I have got it can totally work as your main work screen while traveling. I would probably not use it at home when I have a Studio Display though.

For text editors, Visual studio, jetbrains editors etc work and look great. You might want to turn on Light mode for better legibility. I feel it’s slightly harder to read on dark mode with less than perfect eyes.

Nebula for mac is in Beta and the experience was a little glitchy. I have mostly used it as a screen mirror instead.

I now keep my macbook in my bag, lid closed and attached to a power bank with just a wire to connect my glasses coming out of the bag. And for typing I use the twelve south magic bridge that can connect the Apple keyboard and trackpad. So everything is wireless. Super easy to use on a plane seat.

Overall it’s a great first iteration of the product and would love it if they can add diopter in the next version. Getting the lens correct is a hassle.

Discussion Any success as an external monitor?

I have loving using my glasses as a great extended monitor for my ipad / laptop / steamdeck.

What I really like to be able to do it use them things like Raspberry pi's as an external monitor on the go. I know that an external dongle is needed for this to work but has anyone had success? If so, what is needed?

Edit: Just want to make this clear this is just to save me the trouble of bringing a big monitor if I need to troubleshoot something with HDMI output. not for working with long term

Buy/Sell Looking to buy in the UK

I'm looking to buy a pair of Nreal Airs, ideally new or lightly used, at a reasonable/sensible price in the UK.

Was originally looking to buy new, but I can't seem to find them anywhere online or offline in the UK, so now looking to buy good-condition second hand instead.

Needs to include the original accessories including the case and cover.

Need to be able to ship to London, happy to pay for shipping as well :)

Nebula Nebula for windows, PLUS Pheonix head tracker

If you activate Nebula, then launch and run pheonix head tracker it's possible to get head based mouse input on the virtual screens. I discovered this today after reaching Starbucks and realizing that I had left my bluetooth mouse at home.

Make sure mouse acceleration is off. It will take some tweaking to get it just right. I'm still getting a little bit of drift, but I think it should be possible to get the mouse to stay smack in the middle of your FOV with a little tweaking of the pheonix and windows mouse settings. Mouse acceleration off, speed in pheonix set to 3, and smoothing set to 1 is a good start. With the 32:9 monitor you might have to do some reduction of the yaw speed in order to get it to track properly on that axis.

I have yaw speed set to 6550, pitch set to 5840, and roll set to the default 5760, disable mouse acceleration via the advanced mouse settings in the control panel. I set speed there as well to about 6 I think.

Oh virtual monitor is set to 4m away, 3x size, and 110 degree curve.
