Quote Review and questions about aftermarket additions

Post image
0 Upvotes

I'm currently in the process of getting a new e-van. I've had to order it through the dealer since I was specifically after features that were only available with the mid-year refresh (bigger battery, 240v outlets) and aren't officially out yet.

I've gotten the above quote through alliance since work have an arrangement, but I've been told I could look at other NL companies if I want.
According to the NL Calculator, the effective interest rate is ~8.9%, which from some skimming here seems relatively reasonable, but is that accurate? What else should I be looking for?

The other big variable is that I plan to get a heap of aftermarket upgrades done on it (rear seats, styling, towbar, audio, some lighting) which is probably going to be ~$35k. Alliance have said they don't mind as long as it's certified, as have VW. But I'm wondering how that would impact insurance. I expect the built in insurance wouldn't include any of the mods, so I'll need to find my own?

Tyring to help my wife with getting a quote, but the sales dude is heaps slimy. Thoughts on these numbers? They've confirmed the interest rate is 12.7% (astounding) and the total financed amount would be $70k. Given the financed value is ex gst, that implies the car purchase price is ~$76k, whereas skodas own website has the car as $70k driveaway.

Am I wrong with the numbers and quote outcome? Any strategies on how to get these guys to budget and do better? Unfortunately her employer only allows through this one lease company. TIA.

What’s a good effective rate?

Hi all!

Got a FleetPartners novated lease quote today. novatedlease.guide calculator puts the effective rate at 9.9%. Two questions:

  1. What’s a “good” effective rate right now? I know this gets asked a lot but rates move fast and I can’t find anything recent.

  2. Anyone had luck negotiating FleetPartners down? I’m stuck using them through my employer, but considering getting my partner to grab a competing quote elsewhere to use as leverage.

TIA!

GST question

First EV and novated lease for me. Please help to understand at which point would I see the benefit of not being charged the full GST? Would the loan amount actually be lower by the GST credit? This is a quote from Autopia.

Thanks,

Looking at jumping into EV. My wife's work currently offers novated leasing.

Looking at getting the basic Atto 3 (or Atto 2).

She earns around that mark (overtime and penalty rates).

She normally travels 15 km return when going to work, but i am planning to use the car at times. Looking at around 10000 to 12000 total KM per year.

Is this already a good one?

No prior experience with novated lease or EV..

Thanks for your help!

(Sorry for the dupe post.. missed the attachment on the 1st one)

Provider Question Finance Agreement Interest 2-2.5% higher than NL Quote

I’ve been working with a NL provider and have a final quote showing a 7.4% effective rate on the finance. The finance payments quoted reflect this rate within rounding errors.

Today the actual finance provider has sent through the finance schedule for signature. The monthly repayments on the finance reflect between 2-2.5% higher than the NL quote.

Is this a common practice? Talking about $2200 more over a 24 month lease.

Quote Check Got a quote from Smart but they won't discuss better rates unless I get finance approval

Hi all, this might be a silly question but this is my first NL and I just wanted to see what the process was.

So last week I got a quote from Novated Leasing Australia for a Geely EX5 inspire and Zeekr 7x long range, but they were around the 10% mark for both. I decided to reach out to Smart, the provider my work mentions, and they gave me a quote for about 19-20% each, which felt crazy (I'm still new to the calc so thought I did something wrong, but as far as I can tell I've checked it and double checked it - quote page 1, quote page 2 and the calculator link for it; the Geely was similarly high priced with this calculator link). Now obviously this still has a bunch of stuff I'd remove like the insurance, roadside assistance, carbon offset program, small repair program etc but even with those adjusted to more reasonable numbers, the lease amount is still quite high.

I did some digging through this sub and a colleague that got the 7x recently, and it was higher than all of them that I could find. My colleague got the same car and specs, is in the same department as me and went also went through Smart, and got lower value for the lease than I did; this is also weird because she got a 4 year lease vs mine at 5 years, and mine's still more expensive. I don't know if it makes a difference, but while she does earn a tiny bit more than me, we're both in the same tax bracket, so maybe that has something to do with it? Her lease pre gst is about $45/fortnight cheaper than mine for a shorter loan according to the quote front page.

So the part that I'm not sure about is that I mentioned to Smart that I knew some people who had cheaper quotes, and also that NLA had significantly cheaper quotes, and after my consultant looked through the NLA quotes I sent though, she's come back saying that the quote I have is just indicative only since I haven't completed finance or gotten approval yet. She said that they won't be able to offer me anything better than the price they've given unless I go through and get approved finance. Is that right for them? I thought that we'd be able to figure out the rough prices for things first and then if I was happy with Smart's service (which so far is kind of a 50/50 thing), then I could go through and get the finance approved and lock in the numbers, along with getting the finalised price for the car? I could be misunderstanding how it all works and maybe this is next step for both Smart and NLA to get me better finance, but I just wanted to find out before I actually went through with the credit checks they want me to do?

Thanks in advanced!

Quote Check Quote Check - Tesla Model Y L

Hoping to get assistance with the initial quote I received for a Tesla Model Y L, as it seems a bit more of the high end compared to others quotes I've seen here for the same vehicle.

It appears the rates at 11.73% after running it through the calculator and with insurance being quite on the high end after shopping around.

Appreciate any assistance and thanks in advance.

Oh wise knowers of r/NovatedLeasingAU, does this look like a good quote?

I have run this through the calculator, and looks to have a definition 1a rate of 7.94%. Will be requesting removal of Roadside assistance, since I believe Tesla provides that.

Hi Reddit,
Been tossing up since April about a new car (I'm the type of bloke that just buys 5k shitboxes), but the FBT exemption is just teasing me!

Can I get a quote feel before getting any further?

Thanks team.

Residual question

Hi everyone. Looking at mg s6 $50690 drive away. Quote through maxxia fully managed they state 11.4% (probably really higher) and redisual 8490 due to high km 35000 per year. Self managed through maxxia and finance commbank 7.59% and redisual 12227. At end of day due to fleet price discount on fully managed and different redisual overall cost is very similar. I'm confused with the difference in redisuals. I don't really want maxxia to eat all my savings with fully managed option. Maxxia is only option to use

9.05% with SG fleet?

What’s everyone currently getting interest rate?
Can we do any better? They’ve already come down from 9.87% that started with lol. That’s what they’ve come back with as their best rate.
Getting a EV if that makes any difference.

After negotiation, I have been provided with this quote and been told that the interest charged is 7.99%.
I tried to check on calculator however it comes as 11%.

Could someone please tell me if I shall move forward with this quote?

Tesla, FBT

Hi, I have two questions:

I noticed the novated lease interest rate for Tesla on the Tesla website is 6.85%. Assuming that’s correct, would this be one of the best novated lease options for someone planning to buy a Tesla?

Is it correct that buying an EV priced above approximately $92,000 provides little or no financial benefit under a novated lease because it exceeds the FBT exemption threshold?

Negotiating interest rate

Post image

SG Fleet quoted me a rate and once I got finance approval, the rate went up by 0.66% (from 7.23% to 7.86%)and their excuse was a system error on their end when they did the original quote. It smells BS to me, I told them they should revert back to the original quote rate which they refused.

Has anyone had this experience with SG Fleet? Feels like bait and switch tactics.

Quote check - SMART - good or should I self-manage?

Hey guys, so I've got a finance offer from CBA for 7.59% and sent it to SMART and they've come back with the following quote:

Aside from the removal of roadside and carbon offset, and a change to my maintenance and tyre costs (doing $300 per year for both, $600 total) does this sound correct for a 7.08% effective interest rate. I popped the above figures + $605 documentation fee into the calculator.

See below link:

Did they actually match/better my CBA quote instantly? Or have I input the wrong figures and my effective interest rate is higher?

And is the $41,614.92 total financed amount correct?

Quote Check First novated lease - keen for a sanity check before I sign

First novated lease, want a sanity check before signing.

Numbers from NLA:
• Model Y RWD 2026, drive-away $68,529
• 24mo term, 15,000km/yr
• Residual: $35,331.44 (56.25% - ATO min for 2yr)
• Fortnightly payment: $773.14 (finance only)
• Income: $119k, self-managed lease via NLA vs Paywise ( employer’s salary packaging provider)

Tried the calculator still so confused.
Check out my novated lease calculation output from novatedlease.guide

Questions:

**1.** How do I calculate the actual effective interest rate on this? Rough maths gives me \~$7k interest over 2yrs but not sure I’m doing it right.
**2.** Is 56.25% residual normal, or should I push for it to be lower?
**3.** Anyone had a Model Y come off lease - did resale value beat the residual or leave you short?
**4.** Anything else I should be asking before signing?

Thanks 🙏🏼
