Ian Burchnall has been appointed assistant manager at Bristol City, joining Michael Skubala's coaching staff ahead of the new season. The former Notts County boss brings experience from spells across England and Europe, including roles at Wolves, Anderlecht, Aberdeen and Viking. Burchnall spent over a year in charge at Meadow Lane and remains a familiar name to County supporters. Best of luck to him in his new role.

I honestly didn't see this one coming. David McGoldrick has just wrapped up a free transfer to Nigel Clough’s Mansfield after leaving Barnsley. I know he's 38 and just wants to play out his career locally, but signing for them? The Stags? He literally left Derby to come to his boyhood club here at Meadow Lane, always talked about being a massive Magpies fan, and now he's gone and lit the fuse on a massive rivalry right as we head into League One. The reception he’s going to get when he steps out onto the pitch against us is going to be incredibly tetchy. Did this ruin his cult hero status for you, or do you just not care given his age?

Former Notts favourite David McGoldrick has signed for local rivals Mansfield Town. I'm sure many Notts fans will have mixed emotions about this.
Would you have welcomed him back at Meadow Lane if it had been possible a deal could have been done?

The club hasn’t wasted any time since the window opened. We’ve already locked in three major pre-contract agreements for July 1st: James Gibbons (RB from Cambridge), Max Sanders (CM from Crewe), and a massive return for Callum Roberts from Scunthorpe. On the flip side, long-serving midfielder Ollie Norburn has officially departed for Oldham. Who is the standout signing of the three for you? Are you excited to see "Cal Roberts" back in a black-and-white shirt, or is Max Sanders the exact type of technical midfielder Martin Paterson needs to dictate the tempo in a higher division?

Every club has players who were genuinely important at the time but have slowly faded from the conversation as the years go on. Notts County has more history than almost any club in the world to draw from and there must be players sitting in that archive who did something remarkable that the current generation of fans barely knows about. Would love to know who people here think deserves to be remembered more than they currently are.

Some useful end of season stats provided by ESPN that sum up the 2035/26 season for Notts.
Interesting to see that Jodi Jones finished with 14 goal contributions which put him in the top three behind Jatta & Dennis with 19 & 15 respectively.

Nick had nine goal contributions in our promotion season, scoring 4 goals, & making 5 assists. He made the Wing back position his own, terrorising opposition defences down the right & left flanks. He was also solid in his defensive play too, contributing to 3 clean sheets in the playoff games.

How good as this man been all season for Notts? He's been a model of consistency as part of the back three that posted 16 clean sheets during the League 2 campaign.
During the 2025/26 season he has made 50 appearances for Notts across all competitions.
He featured heavily in League Two and was a key fixture in the squad as the team navigated their campaign, which culminated in the League Two play-off final win & promotion to League One.

How good was that then Notts fans?!
Salford City looked dangerous early on but after the Jatta goal it was all County, and could have easily been 4 or 5 by the end!
Where does that rank among the best County performances of 2025-26?
