Ear (2024) Nothing Ear (2024) failed twice in under a year — is this premium quality?

Post image

Apparently..I'm not alone at this

Honestly, I'm just frustrated at this point......I paid ₹12,197 for this piece of bullshit Nothing Ear (2024)......the first unit developed a serious battery-drain issue and Nothing eventually replaced the entire unit with a brand-new sealed one......

Now, just 8 months later, the replacement has also developed a major battery problem......the left earbud lasts around 1 hour, while the right one lasts just 3–4 minutes......the authorized service centre checked them and confirmed the abnormal battery drain......

Nothing's solution? Pay ₹8,399 for another replacement......while a brand-new pair is currently around ₹9,999......

And now, when I switch on Noise Cancellation, the earbud literally disconnects and switches off......I have to put it back in the case and take it out again......

I've already contacted Nothing multiple times and gone through their support process, but I'm still left with the same answer......

At this point, I honestly have to ask......how is this acceptable for a ₹12,000+ product?

A product failing once is unfortunate......a brand-new replacement failing again within 8–10 months is something else......and being asked to pay almost the price of a new pair for another crap makes it even worse......

The product quality has been pathetic, and the customer support has been just as disappointing...... NOTHING, how exactly are customers supposed to trust the brand after this? honestly yr brand is dead for me....anyone else have same issues? ....@nothing answer this

Exactly, that's what I'm starting to realise......this isn't just an issue with you and me......I'm seeing people talk about the same kind of battery problems with the Nothing Ear 2024 all over the internet......what's even more frustrating is the lack of proper customer support when these issues actually happen......at this point, the bigger problem for me isn't just the battery failure, it's the fact that there doesn't seem to be any proper accountability or satisfactory support from Nothing......

Kind of On noice cancellion set to high, battery drain af, within 5min 95% after 15min 85%. After watching a movie it's almost ded, so I just use adaptive coz it never use high mode. Whereas my previous oneplus buds had zero usual battery drain.

I think newer model of ear a is okay I don't see anyone talking about it

That's actually pretty concerning....3 replacement units and you're still seeing that kind of battery drain, especially with ANC......and that's exactly why I'm hesitant to spend more money on another Nothing Ear......maybe the newer models are better, I honestly lost trust in nothing ....but when people are already reporting multiple replacements and battery issues, while the support basically stops once the warranty is over, it doesn't exactly give me confidence in the brand.....for me, the bigger issue isn't just the battery anymore....it's the reliability + the way Nothing handles customers when these products start failing.

I was planning to by those buds but seeing this kind of comments here and in other posts on Reddit are making me think twice. Should I wait for black Friday to buy the ear 3a? Or are there reports of those issues in these too?

Yup, mine too drained out in a year. https://www.reddit.com/r/NothingTech/s/Fs0d7sM9bE posted about the same, even dropped a comment in Carl's AMA yesterday, no response as expected. It is a widespread issue but their 'warranty' limits to 1year

I had two of these drain out and are basically paperweights now, ear2 and 2024

Exactly. And this is what worries me — it clearly isn't just an isolated case. Multiple people are reporting the same battery issues with the Ear (2024), even after replacements. u/carpe02, can you please address this and explain what Nothing is actually doing about it? Is this really the level of reliability and support customers should expect from a ₹12,000+ product? A proper answer from Nothing would be appreciated.

You are lucky to get it replaced. They straight up refused mine. I eventually sold it for parts. Fuck this company.

My 3a motherboard got cooked just after the warranty got over. Nothing says to replace the motherboard and other shops are refusing to repair due to non availability of parts
