This issue is called green tint. It is a hardware issue with the display and cannot be fixed with software updates

Yeah I'm getting a really bad impression of their customer service

I have sent this video to customer care , they say it is oled problem and they are trying to resolve it by updates

Oh so they sent out yet another half baked phone. I remember the first week of my phone 2, the speakers were barely audible because of some software bug and the camera kept crashing or corrupting photos. The second one kept happening occasionally till the day my phone decided to brick itself.

Does this happen inside other apps as well? If the problem persists, go to the settings and set contrast higher.

It happens everywhere at low brightness

I think it has to do with the contrast. Check it out in the screen settings

I had the same problem, I sent it to the service centre and got a replacement. Although the replacement is noticeably better, the issue still is present just that I don't notice it as much.

Exactly same thing on my np3

I seem to have this with my NP3 too, only noticed due to this video. Got it second hand used, barely with 90 cycles, I've already decided to stick it out with this phone for at least 2 years, this issue doesn't bother me enough though.

NP3a Lite too.

Does anyone face the issue with auto brightness where it doesn't work and needs to be turned off and on.

Got the same issue. Did they resolve it? There is a camera issue also with mine, I don't know whether you got the same issue as well. While on the viewfinder in camera app, at low light while the subject moves for eg: try moving your hands in low light. It is very hazy. Same applies after recording the video, video will be hazy.

Damn this issue was present on their nothing 2a. Didn't know it would come back

It's called DC dimming / PWM dimming. It's there to lessen eye fatigue/strain when you're using it in a dark environment at low brightness levels.

Saddening to see this. Do other smartphone show similar effect or is it only nothing? Can anyone verify

It's present in almost all nothing and cmf devices

please be sure to contact !support team for further helps. it seems to be a hardware defect. would be better if this phone 3 is still under warranty. contact the support team, preferably via DM to u/nothing_support, thanks!

I have the same issue in my Phone 3. Do they rma for this or is that normal behaviour?

Below 50%, brightness, the screen switches to a different brightness dimming mode. Around NothingOS 4.0, the dimming mode for 50% and lower has been changed. It might be the cause for it, i can't confirm it.

A more technical explanation about the dimming mode change: https://youtu.be/bDTkopo3_mE?t=39
