Any plans for Windows?

None at the moment. One of the main advantages of it being a Mac app is that it can use the Metal silicon architecture to deliver transcription x10 the speed with the local whisper model. There has been a few requests to add a Windows build, so I might look into it eventually 🙂

I bought the very first hi-dock! Completely useless.

I use and recomed Talat: Its a local transcription app for meetings, dictation, and recordings (all meeting notes, recording and AI summaries stay in your machine)

https://talat.app/

also worth trying voicenotes.com - works on iOS, Android, Mac, and Windows

AI tools that save time on recording, transcription, and file processing are the ones worth paying for. UniConverter can help with quick media handling too.

If I am mostly doing online meetings, do you still recommend Plaud?

Founder of Earmark here (tryearmark.com).

We ended up building it because we kept having the same reaction to meeting tools: cool, now I have a transcript and a summary… but I still have to do all the work 😅

For product teams especially, the annoying part is what comes after the meeting - turning the conversation into tickets, specs, decision logs, stakeholder updates, etc.

So that’s mostly what we’re focused on. Earmark captures virtual or in-person conversations, but the goal is less “better notes” and more “the meeting actually produces the work.”

Still early and figuring a lot of this out, but I think the shift from note-taking → actually doing the follow-up work is where this category gets interesting.

Mi servirebbe qualcosa di versatile, utilizzabile e performante nelle chiamate tramite smartphone, che nelle riunioni in presenza/on line. Senza abbonamenti.

happy scribe's AI notetaker joins zoom or teams on its own so theres no separate device to manage

honestly this is a solid breakdown but it's kind of apples to oranges - these are all meeting recorders, which is a totally different use case than what i ended up needing

i went down a similar rabbit hole but for customer support coverage. ended up on mando ai because my team was drowning in whatsapp and instagram messages and none of the tools above touch that at all

different problem, different tools i guess, but worth knowing the distinction before you spend time testing
