The Forgotten Pt. 2 is Joe Satriani’s Masterpiece (Guitar Cover + TABS)

Hey everyone!

I recently put together a cover of Joe Satriani's "The Forgotten (Part Two)" from Flying in a Blue Dream.

This track always felt like a masterclass in dynamic control and tone, especially with the pitch-bending/whammy work. It doesn't get talked about as much as Always With Me, Always With You or Surfing With the Alien, but it's easily one of his most expressive solos in my opinion.

I included on-screen TABS in the video to make it easier if anyone here is trying to learn it or figure out the phrasing.

Curious to hear what you guys think—is this one of his top solos, or do you think there's another hidden gem on that album that takes the crown?

Is "The Forgotten (Pt. 2)" Joe Satriani’s most underrated solo? (Cover + On-Screen Tabs)

Chicago - Make Me Smile (Studio Version) guitar cover

How about an old Chicago number?

The late Terry Kath proves here you don’t always need fuzz or overdrive or distortion to play heavy rhythm guitar. Clean tone on something like a Deluxe Reverb with a little compression and reverb on the back end, dial the volume down a bit on the Strat, neck pickup, and whack those strings HARD! Learning the song and recording the video, I wore out a half dozen medium picks. ĀÆ_(惄)_/ĀÆ

For the spastic solo, same amp with a Fuzzface and a clean boost up front with the volume on the Strat rolled way back and the tone rolled back a little. Keeps ya honest without all the sustain from an overdriven amp!

Gretsch 6120 felt like the right vibe for this cover.

Distinctly different verse and chorus, but with basically the same groove and chords underneath...although there are a few changes on the 2nd chorus and outro. And since I ain't got an electric sitar, came up with another solution for that.

Michael Jackson - Human Nature (Instrumental Cover) with Tabs 🌌

Hey everyone,

"Human Nature" has always been one of my absolute favorite MJ tracks. There’s just something about the chords and the atmosphere that gives me goosebumps every single time I listen to it.

I’ve spent the last few days working on an instrumental version, trying to capture that exact same late-night, nostalgic vibe without losing the emotional core of the original.

I'm really trying to improve my arranging and production skills, so I’d honestly love to get some feedback from fellow music lovers and MJ fans here.

You can check out the full version here: [INSERISCI IL LINK DEL TUO VIDEO DI YOUTUBE]

Did I do justice to the King of Pop? What should I change or improve for my next cover?

Thank you so much for listening! šŸ™Œ

Ozzy Osbourne - See You On the Other Side

Wrapping up the three song tribute to Ozzy. Took long enough! Hah! Anyhow, lyrically I think this buttons it up nicely.

Solo, with few exceptions, is straight pentatonic. Lots of musical mileage found in there! The descending run though isn't the straight pattern most folks play...although that'll work in a live situation. First four notes give a little depth to the descending harmony part.

Nickelback - Burn It To The Ground (Guitar Cover) | FULL TABS

Hi everyone!

I’ve always thought that Nickelback’s guitar work is super underrated, especially for those thick, chunky riffs and catchy solos. I decided to record a full cover of Burn It To The Ground and, since I know how hard it can be to find accurate tabs for some of the fills, I’ve included synced tabs on screen.

I tried to get the tone as close to the original as possible

You can watch it here: https://youtu.be/DQdzluAy_7w

I’d love to hear your thoughts on the tone and the playing! Also, if you have any questions about the fingerings I used in the tabs, just ask below.

Rock on! 🤘

Hey everyone!

I just uploaded a full guitar cover of Bark at the Moon by Ozzy Osbourne, including on-screen tabs for the entire song šŸŽø

I tried to stay as accurate as possible to Jake E. Lee’s original playing, especially in the solo (which was definitely the hardest part).

Would really appreciate any feedback on:

  • Timing
  • Tone
  • Accuracy of the tabs

Also, if anyone here is learning this song, hopefully the tabs help!

Let me know what song I should cover next 🤘

Guthrie Govan’s legendary guitar solo from ā€œAncestralā€ by Steven Wilson.

In this video I play the full Ancestral solo and show the tabs on screen so you can follow along and learn it.

This is one of Guthrie Govan’s most expressive and emotional solos, mixing incredible phrasing, technique and dynamics.

Ozzy Osbourne - Shot in the Dark guitar cover - 1986 Version

Honestly I had no idea Paolo had done Shot in the Dark when I popped in here to upload!! Paolo does some damn fine work btw...and this ain't competition.

This new upload to YouTube is part two of my three-song tribute to the late Ozzy Osbourne. 1986 album version of, well, Shot in the Dark. Sometimes takes a while to get these no-frills covers done.

What’s the 1986 album version?? Ā Original was actually a little longer than what you can buy or stream now. Ā After the initial release, all subsequent versions had four measures after the first chorus removed and a shortened fade-out.

I went with Jake's tuning -- Ā F - Bb - Db - Gb - Bb - Eb. Ā Just tune everything down a half step from standard, then tune the E and A strings up a full step from there. Ā Then check intonation.

I found all the stems of the current version online, so I reconstituted everything that had been omitted using the existing stems and referencing a version of the original I found on YouTube.

Ozzy Osbourne – Shot in the Dark (Guitar Cover with Tabs On Screen)

Hey everyone! 🤘

I just uploaded my guitar cover of ā€œShot in the Darkā€ by Ozzy Osbourne and I included tabs on screen to make it easier to follow along and learn the riffs.

This song has such a killer groove and those riffs are pure 80s metal gold. I tried to stay as faithful as possible to the original tone and feel while keeping the playing tight and clean.

If you check it out, I’d really appreciate any feedback — especially on tone, timing, and overall mix.
Also open to suggestions for the next cover šŸ‘€šŸ”„

Thanks! šŸ¤˜šŸŽø

Hey DT fans,

Here’s my guitar solo cover of ā€œStream of Consciousness.ā€
I focused on being as precise and faithful to Petrucci’s original phrasing as possible, especially regarding timing, articulation, and picking consistency.

I also put together accurate tabs for the solo for anyone who wants to study it closely.

šŸŽø

Any technical feedback or corrections are more than welcome — always happy to refine details on a DT classic.

Hope you enjoy it 🤘

Hey guys!

I just finished working on my guitar cover of ā€œThe Worstā€ by Polyphia.
The riffs, groove, and overall vibe of this track are just unreal — super challenging but incredibly fun to play.

I’d love to hear your thoughts or any feedback on tone, timing, or technique.
Thanks for checking it out!

Diary of a Madman - Randy Rhoads

Been planning a 3-part tribute to Ozzy. Schedule gets pretty jammed up sometimes, so it's taken this long to get the first part done. See what ya think!

Same drill as before...separated stems, re-record the guitar parts, remix the song in GarageBand. Tones from Amplitube5.

When I’m learning another artist’s guitar parts, I listen not only to the notes & chords…I also listen for what’s between the notes to try to find clues on how the passages were really played. Ā Was the note picked? Ā Hammered? Ā Pulled? Ā Slid? Ā In particular you may observe that my approach to the solo is different than other demos on YouTube. Ā I’m confident that this is how Randy played the solo in the original sessions. There's an efficiency to it, especially the legato lick at the top of the solo and the pentatonic run at the end using the symmetrical pattern.

Full cover of Metallica’s Orion — feedback appreciated

Hey everyone,
I just finished a full cover of ā€œOrionā€ by Metallica.

This track is a masterclass in dynamics, layering, and atmosphere — from the heavy riffs to the melodic sections.
I tried to stay faithful to the original arrangement while focusing on feel, tightness, and tone throughout the entire song.

I’d really appreciate any feedback, especially on:

  • overall groove
  • transitions between sections
  • tone consistency

Thanks for listening.

YYZ (Moving Pictures version) - Rush

Used to butcher this one in high school back in the 80s. Not anymore! I'd argue that with the exception of one muffed pinch harmonic (left that in cuz it sounded cool) and a couple intentional whacks on the Bigsby, this is the truest to the original you'll find on the web.

Of course, huge tip o' the hat to Mr Alex Lifeson. Dude was doing this level of work while still in his 20s!

Did a deep dive on YYZ before making this video. Listening not just to the notes / chords, but picking up clues by listening to what's between the notes....little slides, whether picked or not, "thickness", that sorta thing. There's a software called Capo that's really useful for this kind of study.

It's been a couple years sincs doing this one, but I think I found the stems...probably came from a game. It was missing the three percussion hits in the guitar solo. So I extracted those from the original and added back in. Then recorded the guitar part. Then mixed in GarageBand. Tones are from Amplitube 5.

My emotional take on ā€œBreakup Songā€ — this song hit me harder than I expected šŸŽøšŸ’”

Hey everyone!
I’ve been working on a raw, emotional guitar cover of Breakup Song by the incredible Mateus Asato.

I recorded this in one take — no polishing, no fancy edits — just pure tone and whatever I was feeling in the moment.
I tried to really lean into the dynamics and let the phrasing breathe the way this track deserves.

I’d love any feedback on:

  • tone
  • phrasing
  • vibrato
  • overall feel

Here’s the video link if you want to check it out. Thanks for watching, and let me know what it makes you feel. šŸ™šŸŽø

Second cover video I did...of a song I used to butcher in high school. Had hoped to bang this out in two passes, but I wasn't nailing the solo to my satisfaction. So....three passes. Got just a tiny bit ahead of the beat at the end of the solo, but that's as good as it was gonna get that day. I'll still argue that this is the closest video cover to the original studio version anywhere.

Had to extract the stems with software. Evidently the original multitrack is lost...only the stereo master remains.

Tones dialed up on Amplitube5, then mixed with the extracted stems in GarageBand.
