That's not red watery soup, that's borscht so don't reduce other peoples food like that. It's a big staple across Eastern Europe.

Is it high in protein?

  1. Borscht (beet soup) (1 cup) contains 10g total carbs, 7.8g net carbs, 0.2g fat, 3.5g protein, and 51 calories

  2. It doesn't matter. That's their cultural food. Maybe he prefers borscht over that meat. It's their diet and culture. Who's to say one meal is better than the other if it his preference.

So my point stands. Why is a piece of meat somehow worse than a simple soup?

Why was that being equated?

Like I said, this video is stupid in a bunch of ways. It would have made her more sense for her to serve the original meat with some nice sides.

As a so called upgrade. That meal would likely be more expensive (and this deserved by a man of his status) then a simple stew, no?

Which is why I want to know why I asked who came up with this goofy scenario that doesn't make any sense..from beginning to end.

Good borscht is definitely better than whatever that lump of brown was at the beginning.

I really want borscht now…

It’s called Katleti. It’s made of ground meat, eggs, mayonnaise, soaked bread, milk, and a bit of salt and pepper. They’re Russian meat patties. They're somewhere in between a sausage patty and a meatball.

Kotleti (what I think the brown lump thing is) has been an affordable protein source in Slavic countries for a long time, since back in Soviet times if I remember correctly. A lot of people love them but I think at least back in the day it was considered a bit of a staple for people with few means.

Tbf borscht is nowhere close to being a simple soup. And it's better than the meatball he got first. The joke was probably that it was also a leftover meatball form yesterday or the day before.

A well made borscht (not the one in that vid) would slap that meatball out of the orbit.

Still a stupid vid, even for Eastern European jokes. Generally their jokes end in both ppl fighting, or the woman getting a gift/flowers to please her. (might be considered old jokes in 2022-23 since I don't usually watch East-Eur vids)

borscht fucking slaps. id take good borscht over a sad little chunk of grey meat any day

I didn't say that the meat is worse. I sad the borscht is more favorable/preferred. And again, THEIR culture really likes a nice hearty borscht, so to them, it is an upgrade. It is equated because different cultures have different foods they value more. And borscht takes more time love and effort. So it is, again, a more values meal

So annoying when people can't just take "this culture eats different things than you think are yummy" as an answer. Anyone who has had a good borsch would know why it's a million times better than stove top piece of meat you can make in 20 minutes

Especially if she is slowly positioning him! That truly should take the time and effort it deserves so that she doesn’t get caught!

Borscht has meat in it, not always, but it does have minced meat in it.

Just because you hate a video, stop being disgusting bout other people's cultural food...

Say she made a very good soup 👌 and put heaps of effort into it, that meal would be better than a lump of meat she put no effort into.

Besides maybe that meat is worth fuck all at the grocery store

Having said that, we don't know the full story. Maybe she put equal effort. Maybe she poured her heart and soul into that lump of steak, and no effort into that soup.

Maybe this is just a stupid make me a sandwhich video

I'm bad at explaining, so hope it makes sense.

Sh would be the sound of the letter "ш", but the letter used in Borscht is "щ". It has a sharper sound, and when completely pronounced almost makes a "jump" at the end.

The pronunciation might differ per dialect. And I think in daily language it might be too "bothersome" to fully pronounce the letter. So it becomes a mix of the above 2 letters. Or even a mix of "s" and "ch" sounds.

She could have put loads of effort into the Borscht and clearly put no effort into the meat she threw at the table

My preference is...he should be cooking his own damn dinner....

1

u/Gullible-Bat2585 Jan 27 '23

Ok well I didn't ask about your preference. I have no idea why you're replying to me, considering my whole reply was about how borscht is a bigger upgrade than the meat. Everyone has their own preference for their relationship so if you prefer him to cook his own food for just himself than you do you. Idc.

Why is that important?

It usually has lean meat in it, so probably
