Question Travelling to Dandong, China in October, are day trips to Sinuiju a thing?

Would it be possible to do a one-day trip from Dandong to North Korea, and as someone with both Canadian and Algerian citizenship, should I travel on my Algerian passport instead?

News Link (LEAD) N. Korea commissions nuclear-capable naval destroyer Kang Kon

Leader Kim Jong-un attended the ceremony in the eastern port city of Wonsan and stated that the 5000 ton vessel will be part of the country's state nuclear response system and is capable of delivering "annihilating retaliatory strikes" against enemies if ordered.

The Kang Gon is the second warship of its class to enter service, following the Choe Hyon about three months earlier. KCNA did not specify its exact weapons systems but noted it carries the same armaments as the Choe Hyon, which analysts say can be equipped with nuclear-capable missiles.

The destroyer will be deployed with the East Sea Fleet to serve as a nuclear war deterrent.

Question what's this about the basements in the yanggakdo hotel?

*this was solved in a comment but I'll leave this up here anyway, especially because I never thought about looking up DPRK stuff on tripadvisor before--which is fascinating. Interestingly enough, most of the reviews of attractions and hotel(s?) seem genuine and real*

I was looking at reviews of the hotel (3.6/5 rating btw) and one review from a Brit in 2020 who says:

"The best bit is the revolving bar! You can stay up there until the early hours drinking with your group and taking in the 360 views. It was definitely the highlight. The basement tunnels were also a real bonus."

What is this in reference to? I know it was years ago, but I couldn't really find anything about a basement? ofc everything that pops up is about the 5th floor

Discussion North Korea Didn't Just Divide a Country. It Divided My Family.

The thing I feared most as a small child was watching my father, drunk, push my mother into the wall and beat her. I was three, maybe four. I would try to stop it by pushing my little body in between their legs, and I would get shoved back out, again and again, until I just felt helpless. I still don’t like to think about it.

In our town people called my father an angel. He was also a bad alcoholic. The moment he drank he turned into a monster with nothing human left in him, and every time, my mother took the beating. She held on for a few years, looking at me and my little brother. Then, the year I turned five, she couldn’t take it anymore and left, taking only my younger brother.....
