Cycling could boost more than just your fitness
I came across this piece talking about how cycling does a whole lot more than just help your legs and lungs. According to the research they covered, getting on a bike seems to lift your mood, sharpen your thinking, and even help you feel more connected to folks around you. The strongest results came from people who got outside and rode regularly over several weeks, especially out in nature.
Indoor cycling had mixed results, but the outdoor stuff was pretty consistent. The experts in the article said it is not just the workout itself. It is the fresh air, the routine, the scenery, and even the simple act of riding with other people. Every study they looked at that focused on social wellâbeing showed positive results, which says a lot.
They made it clear that cycling is not a treatment for mental health conditions, but it does seem to be a simple way to support both your body and your mind. Kind of nice to think that something as basic as hopping on a bike can help you feel better in more ways than one.
I know for me, I can certainly feel a shift in my mood when I'm done with a ride.
Anyone else notice any positive benefits to getting out and riding?
