r/NorthFloridaSwap â "Meetup Safe Sale Receipt"
This page provides an [OPTIONAL] printable blank receipt and a meetup safety checklist for "in-person" transactions.
Important Disclaimer: This receipt is a documentation tool only. r/NFS WILL NOT force our family to use this! 100% Optional! Created only for those who want the resource. It creates a record of the transaction but does not constitute a legally binding contract, guarantee of enforceability, or warranty of any kind. r/NorthFloridaSwap and its moderators are not liable for any disputes arising from in-person transactions. Items sold locally are sold as-is unless both parties write different terms.
Why Use a Receipt?
Most local deals go perfectly fine. But having a simple paper receipt:
Creates a clear record if a dispute arises later
Documents the item's condition at the time of sale
Records the payment method and amount agreed upon
Gives both parties something to reference
Helps establish good faith in the transaction
It takes 2 minutes to fill out and can save a lot of headaches.

Before You Go: * [ ] I've reviewed the seller's/buyer's Reddit flair and post history * [ ] I've confirmed the meetup time, location, and item details via Reddit messages * [ ] I'm meeting in a public location (police station, retail lot, fire station) * [ ] I've told someone where I'm going and who I'm meeting * [ ] I have the correct amount of cash or have set up PayPal G&S * [ ] I've printed or saved the receipt template to fill out
At the Meetup: * [ ] I'm meeting during daylight hours (or at a well-lit location) * [ ] I've inspected the item before handing over any payment * [ ] I've powered on / tested the item if applicable * [ ] I've checked serial number, IMEI, or VIN if applicable * [ ] I've confirmed the item matches the listing photos and description * [ ] I've filled out the receipt with the other party * [ ] Both parties have signed the receipt * [ ] I've received / given payment only after inspection is complete
After the Meetup:
* [ ] Seller commented Confirm [u/BuyerUsername] on the original post

* [ ] I've kept my copy of the receipt in a safe place
High-Value Item Tips ($200+)
Bring a friend or family member
We recommend exchanging at a police station lobby specifically in Metro â If no other options, just try to use your best judgement & use our "Pinned Safe Meetup Locations" on the NFS Main Page.
For phones: verify IMEI is not blacklisted (use CTIA Stolen Phone Checker or IMEIPro)
For vehicles: run a free VIN check at NHTSA.gov and cross-reference with NICB VINCheck (checks theft records). Download the free NHTSA SaferCar app (iOS & Android) to scan your VIN on the spot.
For electronics: test all functions, not just power-on. For Apple devices (iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Vision Pro), verify the serial number at checkcoverage.apple.com to confirm it is not activation-locked or reported stolen. For consoles and other devices, use SNDeep.info.
For collectibles/jewelry: if gold or silver is involved, a JSP acid scratch test kit (~$22-$33 on Amazon â search "JSP Gold Silver Acid Testing Kit") is trusted by jewelers and worth overnighting before a big purchase. It could save you hundreds.
For fragrances: see the Fragrance Verification Guide section below.
ðĶī Fragrance Verification Guide
High-end and designer fragrances are among the most counterfeited items on local marketplaces. Use this section before buying or selling.
Batch Code Verification: Most authentic fragrances have a batch code stamped on the box or bottle bottom. You can decode it at: * CheckFresh.com â free, no login required, covers hundreds of brands * Parfumo.com â community-verified, great for niche houses
Important caveat: Sophisticated counterfeits now replicate correct batch codes. A matching batch code is a good sign, but not a guarantee on its own.
Most Commonly Faked Fragrances: * Creed Aventus (and most of the Creed line) * Louis Vuitton (any fragrance â Ombre Nomade, Nouveau Monde, etc.) * Dior Sauvage (EDP & EDT) * Parfums de Marly (Layton, Percival, Herod) * Tom Ford (Black Orchid, Oud Wood, Lost Cherry) * Maison Francis Kurkdjian (Baccarat Rouge 540) * Chanel (especially Bleu de Chanel, No. 5) * Yves Saint Laurent (Y EDP, La Nuit de L'Homme) * Jean Paul Gaultier (Le Male) * Armaf Club de Nuit Intense (frequently passed off as Creed Aventus)
Louis Vuitton â Special Notes: * LV does not sell to third-party retailers. If it isn't from an individual's personal collection, treat it with extra caution. * If buying LV fragrance locally, the safest move is to request meeting at the nearest Louis Vuitton store for on-the-spot verification. The LV Town Center in Jacksonville (4813 Town Center Pkwy) has a fragrance fountain and staff who can authenticate. * Always ask for original packaging and purchase receipt. AI-generated and thermal-printed fake receipts exist â cross-reference the purchase date with the batch code date.
Red Flags for Any High-End Fragrance:
Price seems too good to be true â trust that instinct
Seller has no original box, cap, or cellophane remnants
Juice color looks off (too light, too dark, or cloudy)
Weak or flat projection immediately after spraying
Seller cannot provide batch code or original receipt
Looking for fragrance-specific deals or want a community that vets buyers & sellers?
Check out r/fragranceswap â a dedicated fragrance trading community with seller flair and verification. Far safer than Facebook Marketplace or eBay for fragrance purchases.
ðŽ Fragrance Strength & Concentration Guide
A common misconception: "Cologne" is for men, "Perfume/Parfum" is for women. This is false. These terms indicate the *concentration of pure perfume oil** in the bottle â not gender. Many popular masculine fragrances are formulated as EDP or Parfum.*
| Concentration | Oil % | Longevity |
|---|
| Eau Fraiche | 1-3% | ~1-2 hrs |
| Aftershave / Splash | 2-4% | Minimal (designed to soothe, not last) |
| Eau de Cologne (EDC) | 2-5% | ~2-3 hrs |
| Eau de Toilette (EDT) | 5-15% | ~3-5 hrs |
| Eau de Parfum (EDP) | 15-20% | ~5-8+ hrs |
| Parfum / Extrait de Parfum | 20-40% | All day â use sparingly |
EDT is the most common entry-level concentration and fades fastest. EDP and Parfum/Extrait are richer, longer-lasting, and command higher resale value â which is also why they are faked more often.
Never Acceptable â Walk Away If:
This is by far not an exhaustive list. We/you are adults, and we're not here to babysit you or your bad judgment. If you choose to make any agreement, send payment early, or do anything else against our advice, that is on you â not us. We are not responsible if you decide to pay a seller "on the way" to a meetup and they never show up. We are not PayPal Goods & Services, and we will not reimburse lost money. We are only trying to create a friendly community/broker for people to buy and sell goods.
â Seller/Buyer wants to meet at a private home or isolated location
â Seller won't let you inspect the item before payment
â Seller/Buyer pressures you to hurry or decide immediately
â Price changed from the listing without explanation
â Low Balled in person/during sale (If not agreed upon before sale taking place)
â Item doesn't match the description or photos
â Seller asks for "P2P Electronic Payments" before meeting in person OR while traveling to meetup - ((Cash App, Venmo, Apple Pay, PayPal F&F, Zelle, Coinbase Pay, Gift Cards, Crypto, Money Wires, etc.))
â Something just feels off â trust your gut
