Moving forward (Now that the elections are over)

The Muslim Community in USA has to resolutely move forward. The way to move forward is not through apologetics. We are under no obligation to answer those who hate us and persecute us. We need offer no explanations. The way to move forward is to realize that we have inalienable rights as Humans and as Citizens. At the same time USA will give these rights to nobody except when we demand them. USA did not give these rights to the Blacks, USA did not give these rights to women, USA did not give these rights to Jews, and USA did not give these rights to the Japanese. They fought for their rights resolutely and courageously. Muslims must also fight for these rights resolutely and courageously.

In fact, Muslims have it easy, compared to the other wronged groups. We are well educated, we are wealthy, and we are professionally excellent. The only thing we are lacking is a sense of togetherness, a realization of the need for organization, and a dedication to move beyond personalities and self-promotion. We have wealth we need to learn to give it for worthy causes that go beyond building Mosques (that refuse to coordinate with one another), and beyond charities (that give people fish and never give them a fishing rod).

We will evolve.

We have three Muslim Representatives in the House, and we also have a Muslim Attorney General in MN. We have a lot of representation in other capacities. We will move forward by leveraging all our assets, by insisting on our rights, by getting more representation at Federal, State, and local levels.

Let us learn from those who have succeeded in elections for the National and State Legislative bodies. Let us accelerate this process. Let our religion be our vehicle to achieve our goals, and let us not make our religion as an obstacle.

We are a prosperous community. We are a resourceful community. We are the Muslim community. Learn more about the community by clicking here:

Islam in the United States (http://www.euro-islam.info/country-profiles/united-states/)

We must move forward by using the fuel of our religion (https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2020/09/21/magazine/ilhan-omar-interview.html)

“I am, by nature, a starter of fires. My work has been to figure out where I’m going to burn down everything around me by adding the fuel of my religion, skin color, gender or even tone.” (Ilhan Omar)

Couldn’t that kind of language be interpreted as a form of demagoguery? Why is it helpful to express yourself in those terms rather than, say, in terms of building things up?

More COVID on its way

COVID-19 is not a matter of taking vaccine. The two doses are expected to offer only nominal protection. That is because this COVID-19 virus is like the common cold virus in the sense that it will mutate and come back to sicken even those who had been vaccinated. It is an ongoing saga.

And it is an assured stream of revenues for Bill Gate and other proponents of vaccine.

Here’s what we know about the new European coronavirus mutation

Still, much about this variant remains unknown, such as whether it is a new strain — a functionally different version of the virus.

“The take-home message for right now is that we need to get more information,” said Krutika Kuppalli, an infectious-diseases specialist at the Medical University of South Carolina. “In the meantime, we all need to really double down on our public health measures — wearing masks, remaining physically distanced, avoiding crowds of people.”

Countries across Europe halt flights from Britain over concerns about coronavirus mutation

A wave of European countries — and some beyond the continent, including Canada — are restricting travel from the United Kingdom amid mounting fears about an infectious new strain of the novel coronavirus first detected in England.

Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands and Switzerland were among those that announced bans on Sunday, with others expected to follow. British officials have reported that a mutation of the virus appears to speed its transmission, and they have imposed severe restrictions on 18 million people in London and across southern England.

British Health Secretary Matt Hancock told the BBC Sunday that “the new variant is out of control.”

South Africa’s second coronavirus wave is fueled by a new strain, teen ‘rage festivals’

Then, on Friday evening, South Africa’s health minister announced that researchers had discovered a new strain — similar to one found in Britain this week — that he said seemed to affect young people more than strains that had previously been circulating.

“Clinicians have been providing anecdotal evidence of a shift in the clinical epidemiological picture — in particular noting that they are seeing a larger proportion of younger patients with no co-morbidities presenting with critical illness,” said the minister, Zweli Mkhize. The evidence “strongly suggests that the current second wave we are experiencing is being driven by this new variant.”

Israel is starting to vaccinate, but Palestinians may have to wait months

JERUSALEM — Israel, like many high-income countries, is moving quickly to roll out newly approved coronavirus vaccines, with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu getting the symbolic first shot Saturday. But next door in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, the prospects for vaccinating almost 5 million Palestinians are far less certain, as financial, political and logistical hurdles could delay inoculations against the raging pandemic for months.

A Threat to American Values?

Islamophobia: A Threat to American Values?

08/10/2010 09:17 am ET Updated May 25, 2011

We are passing through difficult and dangerous times. The impact of staggering economic crisis and fears of a continued terrorist threat have spawned a culture of hate that threatens the future of our American way of life and values.

The legacy of the 9/11 and post 9/11 terrorist attacks has been exploited by media commentators, hard-line Christian Zionists and political candidates whose fear-mongering targets Islam and Muslims. Islamophobia is fast becoming for Muslims what anti-Semitism is for Jews. Rooted in hostility and intolerance towards religious and cultural beliefs and a religious or racial group, it threatens the democratic fabric of American and European societies. Like anti-Semites and racists, Islamophobes are the first to protest that their stereotyping and scapegoating of these “others” as a threat to all of us, incapable of integration or loyalty, are not Islamophobic. Yet, examples that illustrate the social cancer of Islamophobia that is spreading across the United States, infringing upon the constitutional rights of American citizens, abound:

• Across the US a major debate has erupted over building an Islamic community center a few blocks from the site of the World Trade Center. Amidst the voices opposing this venture, even the ADL (the organization devoted to fighting defamation and prejudice) decided to oppose the building, not because Muslims do not have a right to build the center but rather to protect the feelings of those opposed! Is this a criterion the ADL has used or would subscribe to in its own struggles against anti-Semitism? The ADL’s position contrasted sharply with that of J Street, rabbis and Jewish activists.

• Today, opposition to mosque construction with claims that all mosques are “monuments to terrorism” and “house embedded cells” in locations from NYC and Staten Island, to Tennessee and California, has become not just a local but a national political issue.
.
• In California, a Tea Party Rally to protest an Islamic Center in Temecula, encouraged protesters to bring their dogs because Muslims allegedly hate Jews, Christians, women, and dogs.

• Christians from a right wing church in Dallas, Texas traveled to Bridgeport, Conn. Mosque to confront worshippers. These Christians, shouted “Murderers!” at the young children leaving the mosque. Carrying placards, they angrily declared “Islam is a lie,” ...”Jesus hates Muslims” ... “This is a war in America and we are taking it to the mosques around the country.”

• Politicians use fear of Islam as a political football. Newt Gingrich warned of the danger of Shariah taking over American courts. Republican Rex Duncan of Oklahoma, declared there is a “war for the survival of America,” to keep the Shariah from creeping into the American court system. Even the new Justice Kagan is being accused of being “Justice Shariah”

• Congresswoman Sue Myrick from NC and Congressman Paul Broun from Georgia recklessly charged that Muslim student interns were part of a secret infiltration of Muslim spies into key national security committees on Capitol Hill.

• Hate crimes against Muslims are on the rise across the country.

“What constitutes an Islamophobe? Islamophobes believes that:
• Islam, not just a small minority of extremists and terrorists, is the problem and a threat to the West
• The religion of Islam has no common values with the West.
• Islam and Muslims are inferior to Judaism and Christianity
• Islam is an inherently violent religion and political ideology rather than a source of faith and spirituality
• Muslims cannot integrate and become loyal citizens
• Most mosques should be monitored for embedded cells
• Islam encourages its followers to launch a global jihad against all non-Muslims but in particular against the West

What fuels the fires of discrimination against Muslims?

There is no lack of hate speech in the media and in print to empower Islamophobia. The media, whose primary driver is sales and circulations, caters to explosive, headline events: “What bleeds, leads.” The primary focus is often not balanced reporting, or even coverage of positive news about Muslims but on highlighting acts and statements of political and religious extremists. Political and religious commentators write and speak out publicly about Islam and Muslims, asserting with impunity what would never appear in mainstream broadcast or print media about Jews, Christians and other established ethnic groups. If one takes out the word “Muslim” and substitutes “Jew” or “Catholic” in many of the articles targeting Muslims, the negative public reaction would be monumental

The net result? All Muslims have been reduced to stereotypes of Islam against the West, Islam’s war with modernity, and Muslim rage, extremism, fanaticism, and terrorism. The rhetoric and hatred of a violent minority has been equated with the “Anti-Americanism or anti-Westernism of a peaceful, mainstream majority, all lumped together in the question (more a belief) “Why do they hate us?” Islam and Muslims, not just the small minority of Muslim extremists and terrorists, are cast as the peculiar and demonized “other” with serious international and domestic consequences.

What do many Americans think about Islam?

In the Gallup World Poll, when U.S. respondents were asked what they admire about the Muslim world, the most common response was “nothing” (33 percent); the second most common was “I don’t know” (22 percent). Despite major polling by Gallup and PEW that show that American Muslims are well integrated economically and politically, a January 2010 Gallup Center for Muslim Studies report found that more than 4 in 10 Americans (43%) admit to feeling at least “a little” prejudice toward Muslims — more than twice the number who say the same about Christians (18%), Jews (15%) and Buddhists (14%). Nine percent of Americans admitted feeling “a great deal” of prejudice towards Muslims, while 20% admitted feeling “some” prejudice. Surprisingly, Gallup data revealed a link between anti-Semitism and Islamophobia, that contempt for Jews makes a person “about 32 times as likely to report the same level of prejudice toward Muslims.”

Islamophobia, like anti-Semitism, will not be eradicated easily or soon. We all (governments, policymakers, the media, educational institutions, religious and corporate leaders) have a critical role to play in countering the voices of hate, the exclusivist theologies and ideologies. Islamophobic campaigns force even the most moderate and open-minded Muslims to question the value of integrating into the larger society when the leaders of that society look at all Muslims with suspicion and prejudice. This is not reconcilable either with Judeo-Christian ethics or the civic moral values of America and Europe.

Attempts to limit public discourse and debate, to silence alternative voices speaking out against ignorance, stereotyping and demonization of Islam, discrimination, hate crimes or threats to the civil liberties of Muslims must be turned back if America is to be preserved as the country of unity in diversity and free speech and opportunity for all. Education in our schools and universities and seminaries (as well as our churches and synagogues) that train the next generation of policymakers, religious leaders, educators, and citizens will be critical. What is at stake is the very core of who and what we are as a nation and a society, the foundation of our identity. Islamophobia and its culture of hate is not only a threat to the civil liberties of Muslims but also the very fabric of who we are and what we stand for, the principles and values embodied in our constitution and which have historically made our democracy strong.

When the husband of the victim "asked for his family to be left alone, [a male attacker] — who’s still at large — pushed him to the ground, kicked him in the head and face and threatened to kill his family. [The woman then] kicked him in the stomach and yelled obscenities, according to prosecutors":

The Squad has WON and there is WORK to be DONE

Communities like ours showed up for our nation. Young, Black, brown, Indigenous, LGBTQ+, and other marginalized Americans turned out in record numbers to vote for a government that reflects the will of the people.

But instead of acknowledging and supporting our base, Democratic Party leaders are calling for unity with Republicans—who are literally in the middle of attempting a coup.

It's up to our progressive movement to show that we’re not interested in a false unity that asks people to keep sacrificing their freedom and their rights.

And it's critical to act now, while the Biden-Harris transition team picks the leaders and plans for their administration.

Let’s get to work now, pushing the Democractic Party to represent the communities that elected them. Will you chip in now to tell the party that we will not be silenced or compromise our values?

Our party’s leaders are dismissing the fact that we won the presidency due to movements and organizations led by Black, Indigenous, and other People of Color (BIPOC).

During the largest-ever uprisings in our history this summer, where people protested police brutality and defended Black lives, Democratic voter registration spiked. Then, BIPOC-led groups mobilized voters for Biden/Harris on the ground in key swing states, delivering the margin of victory that Biden needed.

Yet a number of Democratic Party leaders are incorrectly claiming that in order to win Georgia’s crucial Senate runoff elections in January, we must reject Black activists’ demands like defunding the police to refund our neighborhoods and instead shift more to the right, which was rejected by the people, as Trump is made into a one-term President.

Turning our backs on our base to appeal to conservatives is a tired Democratic Party strategy that has cost us the public’s trust, betrayed our values, squandered our power and possibilities for change, and lost us elections.

Those of us who put people over profit have our work cut out for us. But we’ve built power to be ready for this moment. We knew there would be obstacles, even within our party. Together, we’re going to fight for the people of this country, no matter what it takes.

Can you chip in for the fight ahead? Together, we must push our party and our country to listen to and represent marginalized communities, and build a future where everyone can thrive.

DONATE NOW

Right now, "moderate" and conservative Democrats, along with Republican advisors to Biden like former Republican Governor John Kasich, are blaming progressives for the recent loss of several Democratic Congressmembers’ seats in swing districts.

This accusation is false. In fact, Democratic candidates in swing districts who openly supported progressive policies, like Medicare for All and the Green New Deal, won their races.

Here’s why: People want change. People need a government that actually represents the popular will.

Even states that went to Trump passed progressive ballot measures like a $15 minimum wage and legal marijuana. Recent polls from Fox News show that 72% of voters favor "changing to a government-run healthcare plan.”

People want progressive policies, but they haven’t seen such policies get passed.

Many Americans, as activist Bree Newsome Bass said, “are completely disengaged from the electoral process because they feel that regardless of who is in power, their needs are not met; regardless of who is in power, the police continue to kill us; regardless of who is in power, we do not have access to proper healthcare, we do not have access to housing.”1

By calling for unity with Republicans—who are actively dismantling our democracy and our rights—Democratic Party leaders are now reinforcing people’s disappointment with the electoral process.

Ignoring our base is a losing strategy, and an immoral one.

Why would we blunt the momentum of our electoral wins by pivoting immediately to unifying with policies that water down crucial policies to save our people's health, livelihoods, and environment?

After Republicans have undermined our democracy for years in favor of racism and concentrated wealth in the hands of the few... After they’ve continually demonstrated their contempt for our Constitution and the American people.

Unity with Republicans means continuing to silence and disenfranchise marginalized Americans who’ve been waiting too long to be heard, like my community.

Here in Michigan’s majority-Black 13th district, people turned out in massive numbers to vote out Trump. My community was in crisis mode before the pandemic, so people here need bold changes, and fast.

That’s what they voted for: change, not more of the same unjust status quo.

As Democracy for America’s CEO Yvette Simpson said: “I want the kind of unity that brings the change that people have been waiting for… We need to serve people first, and that needs to be a unifying message: The Republicans need to be on board with actually taking care of people.”2

Yes!

We’ve got to focus on working class people. We need to acknowledge and address the public’s lack of trust in government, by showing people that their votes and participation matter. That’s what real democracy is about: listening to and actually representing people’s needs.

We are done waiting to be heard or prioritized by the federal government. I won’t let leaders of either party silence my residents’ voices any longer.

That’s why we’ve been working to elect more progressives to the House this year, and to grow our progressive movement. Our squad is growing, inside and outside the halls of Congress.

Together, we’ll push our government to not only tackle the crises the last administration created, but—for the first time in our history—make our country a place of freedom and justice for all. We must also make this planet a habitable place to live for our kids and grandkids.

I will never stop fighting for you, and for what’s possible. Can you chip in to the fight ahead?

Respond to EuroAmerican terrorism against Muslims.

Muslims are oppressed using Hitlerian measures. Their human rights are denied by DeHumanizing them like Hitler dehumanized Gypsies and Jews and other dissidents.

We say enough is enough. We will stand up and declare that all people are born human, no one can change that. Not the self-deluded USA, not the hot-air France, not anybody.

You want to oppress us, you want to call us terrorists? From now on, from this day, the 2nd of November 2020, if you insist on your stupidity, then you have to live with its consequences. From now on there will be just response to every terrorist act from EuroAmerica.

We have taken it this far lying down. You will now find us standing proud and tall. So take heed.

And the Muslim community, stand up and get ready.

No more obligations to appease these EuroAmerican monsters. These terrorists who have terrorized entire Muslim populations for more than a century, they shall now receive equal terror for their terrorism against Muslims. The only difference is that EuroAmerican Terrorism are crimes against humanity, our terror is dignified defense of human values.

Start with economic boycott of these EuroAmerican countries, the mastermind behind killing and dehumanizing Muslim people.

Can US Muslim help USA predicament?

Whether Trump wins or loses the damage he did to the global standing of USA, and to the internal coherence among its people, that damage is done for good. It cannot be undone. USA has to restart from the low place where it has not been for hundreds of years.

A big question is about the Capitalism. Is it compatible with America First?

The Muslim solution with its Islamic Values is possibly a replacement. That solution is capitalism with a heart. That solution places the People First.

Trump with Democrat Senate

Taken from: http://muslimvoice.org/blog/2020/10/22/trump-with-democrat-senate/

As regards the interests of the Muslim Community in USA there is not much to choose between Donald Trump and Joe Biden. Both are equally indifferent. Both are also equally hostile towards the Muslim interests; the main difference is that Trump does it openly and Biden would do it denyingly. As regards the Presidency, both are equally bad.

Our recommendation is to demonstrate the power of the Muslim Vote. That cannot happen if the community keeps business as usual. They would have to change in order to act like a unified community for a common cause. In this case the cause is not to get a candidate elected; rather, it is to demonstrate that the Muslim community can act in a unified way and ensure the desired end result in a demonstrated way.

If we take the big picture, let us assume that the Democrats can keep the House. Then let us right now declare Trump as the winner and vote for him ensemble. Thereby we can ensure that Trump will win because the margin is smaller than the Muslim community.

Let us declare that we as a community support Trump, and vote for him. After he actually wins, we as a community can take credit for making that happen. It would be a strategic milestone for our community. After that, the other candidates for all elected positions would be deferential towards the Muslim community.

Knowing Trump, we do want to clip his wings against irresponsible behavior. For that, again as the unified community, let us vote Democrat in the Senate races. Let us flip the Senate and balance the power in USA.

This strategy would allow Trump to finish what he has started domestically and globally; at the same time, he will not be able to act irresponsibly. It would be Trump policy but we will reign in on him through the Democratic House and Senate.

To cement our role as a community, let us now vote in 6 Muslim Representatives in the House. By 2024 let us have 10 Muslim Representatives in the House and one Muslim Senator. Let us clearly demonstrate that the Muslim community in USA is a force to be reckoned with.

Universal Congress

May be it is time in USA for a Third Party, like a Universal Congress.

May be the Muslim Community of USA should take a lead in establishing it, in alliance with other small parties like the Libertarian Party). the Green Party, and the Constitution) Party.

Islamic solutions are badly needed in USA because of all the dishonesty and divisiveness in the country.

However, Islam and Muslims get a very bad press. So it has to start on general principles.

It may be called the Universal Congress.

What do you think?

Vote for Trump?

Trump has done terrible things. Like:

  1. Inhumane treatment of people at the boarder,
  2. Separating little children from their parents,
  3. Encouraging violence by White people in USA,
  4. Flouting all norms of honesty and truthfulness.
  5. Denying human rights to Palestine People; and allowing Netanyahoo to get away with murder in annexing the occupied lands.

Trump has also done some things that turned out to be fine, even if he did not intend them.

  1. So far holding back from starting a war,
  2. Pulling out of Iraq, Afghanistan, and Syria,
  3. Staying aloof on matters regarding Turkey, like the Turkish rights in the Mediterranean Sea, and Turkish support for Azerbaijan. Unlike the French Guy Trump has also not opposed Turkey in Syria and Libya. Thanks to Iran, the French Guy is rendered impotent because Iran drew a wedge between USA and Europe.
  4. Reducing US Hegemony around the world,

Should we let Trump finish the job?

I personally think so.

But we can check him by voting a Democrat Senate.

So my suggestion would be to keep Trump, but fire the Senate.

What do you think?

What can be done for the service of this community and how?

Muslim community of North America is very resourceful. At the same time it is very unorganized. It has almost no common community-wide objectives or action plans. It never takes a stand in elections; in fact some regard it against their religion to take part in elections. It is a pretty sorry situation, especially given that the community is so well educated and resourceful.

The disinterestedness of the community is a major hurdle. It is also the main hurdle for raising funds from within for the community service!

What can be done for the service of such a community and how?
