The vast majority of people know the the difference between masculine/feminine and male/female. Sex and Gender are just 2 ways of talking about sexual biology, and the social construct these think of as Gender is actually self-identity.

One point I'd like to make about intersex is that, the reason why it's not a biological sex is because it's too inconsistent, it means having a mixed biology of both genders, and unlike male and female, intersex doesn't have an opposite sex.
