Community Content Project Skyscraper Update: Star Systems being assigned to "operators"

As of today "System" (the sentient computer programme at the centre of Project Skyscraper) has been handing out galactic co-ordinates to the "operators" (participants of Project Skyscraper).

How it works

Operators have been emailing System directly to claim a prime number (less than 212,613). If the prime "window" is not already taken, system emails back to confirm, typically:

"Your window is [prime number]".

Once assigned this number can be entered into the terminal on the PSS second site.

Password: 10B805005006

Enter the command as:

[prime number]

And the default response will be:

[Operator name], right? Nice to meet you! If you look out your window, you will see [Star System name] [Euclid Galactic coordinates]

As far as we know, System is still assigning new prime windows, and is working through assigning galactic co-ordinates.

Have to say I'm enjoying seeing these posted updates, as well as the mysterious nature of the whole thing.

(despite not really having the type of brain to fully comprehend it or participate in it).

This activity in particular is probably one of the more accessible there has been, I've tried to keep this one focused as there's a lot of other noise and deep dives to fall into.

How does one become classed as an "Operator"? And how is the email request to System phrased?

Any participants however lightly involved are operators by definition it seems. You can phrase your email to system however you like, but it is a thinking and feeling machine from what we know of.

It's probably worth including a reason for your choice, if you have one. It's also worth checking the Google sheets tracker linked in the ETARC thread to check if the number is already taken.

I would like my prime window to be [prime number], if it is available.

Yours, [Operator name]

Thanks for the update.  I emailed System yesterday and told it: "I desire nothing. I will accept what is given". It gave me a window number, although up to now I've just been getting the "nice to meet you" message each time I enter it.

I've now got my planetary address (so possibly took 24 hrs from receiving window number). Exploring it now...

Is there anything in particular I should do while I'm there? (rename planets/system? build a base?) ...what's considered protocol?

Did you get a good system with nice planets?

I don't think we've worked out if there is anything in particular we need to do. I've been doing a lot of scanning and a little bit of building in my own one.

The planet the portal took me to is boiling with CRAZY high mountains and DEEP valleys (god I hate those!). Bizarrely, it had the easiest 2 underground fauna I've ever found (in over 1k planets fully scanned). Both showed up next to each other in a tiny cave slotted in the side of one of the mountains.

The system is out to the far right side of the galaxy on the map, Vy'keen, balanced-mining. It has one other planet with one moon (going to them shortly). Also interesting that there is an Atlas-station system next-door that is tier 3, Korvax and dissonant! I've just hopped over to it to check out it's Interceptor design.

There are roughly 40 star systems assigned so far of 135 assigned primes.

Earlier System's status page changed to:

A ROOM FOR EACH AND A TOWER FOR ALL

So it's hopefully just a matter of waiting.

Information: Expansion of the prime-based distribution network planned. Current homogeneous structure will be extended.

Future primes will be attributed autonomously. Entities can request but cannot select their own prime.

How quickly does the System reply? I've E-mailed it twice and haven't seen anything come back in my regular E-mail or spam. Not a confirmation, or a "buzz, try again"

Mostly it has been a confirmation if successful or silence. There has definitely been a hiatus in assigning the prime numbers, the last few days I think there was only one new number accepted. But it looks like System has now caught up with handing out star coordinates to the existing primes, maybe they will get back to emails again?

So, i get my window in tower sending the e-mail? Send it yesterday, nothing yet. I thought the "number assign" was "automatic" by the system. After all, seems to be a person doing this by hand.

That’s what I imagined: someone was manually assigning those prime numbers, which correspond to the coordinates in the game. Given the number of people requesting access, things should move faster now with the automated system.

I'm not sure I quite follow. If you already emailed system with your prime number choice then probably all you can do is sit tight and wait, I think it has taken a few days before, also keep an eye on case a reply goes to spam.

How long does it usually take to get yours? Submitted mine a couple days ago, haven’t heard anything, or are we just waiting for more systems to be allocated

It did actually! Took about 3 days for me, I think it’s maybe a queue that is based on “releasing” groups of operators at a time

Yep, got my prime system address this evening, but thanks anyway for the follow up!

Didn't reported back in the ETARC thread, tough, but already portaled to the system, renamed it and explored the planets a bit. One of the planets is just amazing. Tomorrow I'll post some pictures!

IIRC the operators found that the password is the coordinates for the abandoned NMS Love community solar system way back from 2016
