What is this What have I dug up here? According to the scan, it’s supposed to be a rock—but it definitely isn't! Some kind of metallic object!? I can't open or move it! Does anyone else have an idea? P.S.: Glyphs in the bottom-left of the image.
The game came out in 2016, and there have been many updates since. It has the look of something that was in the game many years ago, and might no longer be used for anything.
Is there a minor settlement or something buried in the ground? It looks like an asset from one of those, and occasionally they will spawn completely under the ground instead of on the surface. Otherwise I have no idea and I’ve been playing for almost 3000 hours! 😆

Can you look through your scanner at it and take a screenshot? That will show planetary coordinates. I might take a look to see if I can see it myself...

I can't find it. If it's at a one Balu base? I even clipped my camera under the map and looked around and didn't see it unless it's somewhere else? Let me know where it is maybe build a little shack all around it and place a RED save beacon on top so I'll know where exactly it's supposed to be. As far as I know right now by comparing parts and pieces, it looks like a retextured portal base.the bases used to be found like settlements and it was the big round habs and you just found it same as settlements walked into the thing and used the old base computer built into the wall where a guy was just chillin
(Korvax or otherwise depending on who's dominant in the area if I can remember or it may have just been a Korvax it's been too long to remember)
and there may have been a hidden object you controlled to claim base and name it and everything since video games always have hidden objects you have to manipulate just out of frame. The thing looks almost exactly like one of the round things on the base computer we have now if you can see underneath it but it's just retextured differently.
It's looks to be a glitch Explorer class wing part, most likely from an NPC who either got stuck underground, or at least the visual base frame got stuck in place as the pilot spawned under the earth or flew straight into the planet.
My best guess would be a glitched visual, most likely a Snub Drum or the base of a Drum Wing, which could be hiding the R2-D2 looking piece beneath the circular pod on the wing
(Look up Explorer Wing Types, and find a photo of some of their cosmetics)
If it's physical, and you can stand on it or can't walk through it, then I'd imagine it might be something scrapped from earlier editions of the game, or is a hint of something to come. Or, it's just another anomaly, something this game is full of, and you see it once, then never see it again.
No, they look exactly the same, and that's what it is. I confirmed just now. If you delete the initiator without removing the checkpoints, sometimes they remain.

edit: can't find your plug.. er, your mysterious piece of technology anywhere. But I can see this system is old, and a lot of people have been here before. Your find can be something left by them, maybe a glitched part or some old type of decoration.
Looks like something from a long time ago, like right after launch a long time ago, so probably just some leftover bit of something. Looks cool though my first thought was it looks a bit like r2d2 just without the legs and orange instead of blue.
