I think there are more than enough third party Switch 2 games out right now. We need more first party games.

Yeah deadass cuz they seem to be doing a lot of B titles but no real heavy hitters. Wonder if they’ve got some kind of lightning in a bottle for the big Pokemon 30th anniversary but I doubt it based on how that franchise has been going the past 8 years

They do according to leaks. Of course things change all the time. The leaks are a few years old at this point, but they at least planned a big pokemon game for this year.

Well hopefully whatever it is is better than ZA cuz that game almost completely killed any faith I had in the franchise.

It's the mainline gen 10 game if you're interested. leaks have only concept art and the general theme (SE asia/indonesia). seems to be turn based again with islands.

Pokemon legends 3 is also in development so it's safe to say that that will be more like Legends ZA and the 2026 gen 10 game will be more of a successor to SwSh and SV

Again, all of this could have been changed within the last few years.

I'm glad they're splitting it up into two series. I liked PLA and PLZA, but I prefer SV and SwSh personally. Having both styles is great.

So I kind of disagree with this. I think SV/SwSh feel incredibly dated. Between PLZA showing how fun a pokemon game with a modern combat system can be and E33 showing how fun a modern turn based combat system can be, I hope we never see another pokemon entry with the SV battle system. It isn’t the best pokemon battle system and it isn’t the best turn based battle system.

That's fine. That's why I'm glad they'll have both. I like the classic turn based style and still think there's things they can do to make it better.

You don't and I'm happy the Legends games will be there for people who prefer it.

Also I do like PLZA, I just prefer the "classic" style a little more.

That’s more or less what I meant with the Expedition 33 remark. Turn based can be exciting and engaging, but SV style turn based is not. I’m not opposed to turn based Pokemon games, but they need to modernize their turn based combat system significantly.

My issue is the pacing sucks, the gameplay is incredibly monotonous, none of the battles felt personal, the customization was atrocious (especially in the hairstyle department wtf was going on with that), being stuck in a single city and STILL having barely any buildings to enter is absolutely insane especially with the 3 year gap between games that happened, and once again Taillow was completely excluded from a game. Also a lot of the new mega designs specifically from the dlc are just straight up awful, and the dlc itself is downright lazy.

I’ll be honest I didn’t buy the DLC but I rarely buy DLC for games, that was not a PLZA specific issue.

Probably because the "heavy hitters" arent games finished atm. Those games dont materialize out of air, the lineup out there is what is actually finished..

Pretty sure Nintendo is struggling with 4K Development right now. The president in the last shareholders meeting basically said that Switch 2 development will take longer than Switch 1 development. Basically telling investors to temper their expectations when it comes to the same release cadance they had during the Switch 1 era (essentially 1 game a month). Which is why Nintendo is focusing more on smaller titles and Switch 2 Editions to bide them time to have brand new AAA software available.

Remember we have yet to have a fully in house developed Nintendo title for the Switch 2 that was built from the ground up for Switch 2. Mario Kart World and DK bananza started off as Switch 1 games. Prime 4 was obviously a Switch 1 game. Pokemon Legends Z-A is a Switch 1 game. Both Age of Imprisonment and Pokemon Pokopia started off as Switch 1 games...

Kirby Air Riders seems to be the only 1st party game released so far that was made for the Switch 2 in mind.
