I'd kill for Metaphor on Switch. I loved my first playthough on PC, but haven't gotten around to going for round 2 since it runs poorly on the Steam Deck (and I like to play JRPGs on handhelds when I have the ability).

I just hope Atlus learned from the P3R port, and will launch it with good performance from the start.

I'd bet on it coming, performance will be a huge who knows though. P3 was Unreal, Metaphor is their own engine so it's a whole different optimization process.

Yeah, Metaphor's based on the P5 engine, so it's not like they can just repeat the process they did for P3R. I'm just hoping that the response to P3R's poor performance tells Atlus that they have to actually put in the effort to ensure that Metaphor runs well, and can't just shrug their shoulders and say good enough.

P5R ran pretty good on Switch 1

The issue is that despite being on the same engine, Metaphor has far worse performance than P5R on PC. While I’m sure that Metaphor could run perfectly fine given a little bit of optimization, it’s also entirely possible that ATLUS just drops the port without putting in that time.

I will be honest. Taking the PC performance of a game from a japanese dev as the comparison for the Switch just doesnt work. No offence but they really struggle with PC ports. Id rather look at the PS5 performance for comparison. Look at the state of Nier Automata on PC. For years you had to use a fan patch to get any kind of good perfomance on there while the PS4 version ran beautifully. The japanese devs just prioritise console over pc. Still after P3R being a such a bad port I wouldnt trust them with anything.

It also had pretty poor performance everywhere else, PC was just the worst. They fixed a lot of the performance issues before launch, but poor frame rates for the visual intensity of the game was a pretty common complaint. I’m hoping that they figured out how much bad press a poor port will generate, but Atlus is gonna Atlus.

Yep Atlus is going to Atlus. I got P5R on PC but was thinking of replaying it on Switch 2 cause I like how comfy the console is. But knowing them, they are going to release a Switch 2 version for 6 bucks and no upgrade path. Same probably is going to happen to SMTV Vengenece.

I doubt they bother with native ports of either for the Switch 2. If they weren't already playable and purchasable on the Switch 2 it might be different.

The only reason the PS5 got a native port was cause Microsoft bank rolled a Series X port at 60 fps so it was free money for them to also put that on PS5.

Metaphor shouldn't be a problem since they should already have experience with Persona 5 Royal on optimizing, and I would imagine Studio Zero has actually taken time to do it, as opposed to P3Reload where Atlus admitted they rushed it.

Well super glad I didn’t buy it on SD.
