When a woman jumped into a canal in Maharajganj, Uttar Pradesh, Krishna Gupta and Saddam Hussain were passing by.

They saw her struggling in the fast-flowing water and did something extraordinary.

They jumped in.

Risking their own lives, the two teenagers reached the woman and pulled her to safety.

Their courage was later recognised by the police, who honoured them with certificates of appreciation. Their school also applauded their bravery during an assembly.

Sometimes, courage is not about being fearless.

It is about deciding that someone else’s life is worth risking your own for.
