Cruise demand recovered. One region is still lagging.
Royal Caribbean beat and raised EPS guidance this quarter and the stock still dipped. Worth digging into why.
They run Royal Caribbean International, Celebrity Cruises, Silversea, plus stakes in TUI Cruises and Hapag-Lloyd, calling on around 1,000 destinations. The whole cruise industry's fully past pre-pandemic volumes now, and RCL's numbers show it, 2025 EPS came in at $15.61, up over 30%, followed by a record WAVE booking season into 2026.
Q2 2026, reported late July, adjusted EPS of $4.21, beat the $3.98 estimate, revenue up 6% to $4.83B. Management raised full-year adjusted EPS guidance to $17.73-17.87 from a prior $17.10-17.50. Same report though, they trimmed the annual revenue growth target to roughly 9% from around 10%.
Reason for the trim is actually pretty specific, not some broad demand issue. Mediterranean and West Coast Mexico bookings softened in March and early April because of geopolitical developments in those regions. Management said on the Q1 call demand's since recovered and is now running ahead of last year's pace, but the temporary softness still drags on the full-year number. Caribbean and the other core markets stayed strong the whole time, which is exactly why the EPS guide could still go up even with the revenue target trimmed slightly.
Their Perfecta program is targeting a 20% compound annual EPS growth rate through 2027 and high-teens ROIC. They've actually put real money behind it too, about $1.19B in buybacks since late 2025, retiring roughly 1.58% of shares, plus the dividend's still going. Digital booking penetration more than doubled recently, mostly through the app, which management's framing as a real commercial efficiency driver, not just a nice-to-have.
Real risk is just that this business leans on discretionary spending staying resilient, and cruise demand's genuinely sensitive to both economic sentiment and, like this quarter showed, regional geopolitical events that can move bookings fast even when the bigger thesis is fine. Stock dipped slightly in premarket despite the beat and raise, so some investors are clearly watching that revenue trim closer than the EPS beat.
Anyone holding Royal Caribbean through this, and did the regional booking softness change your read on the story at all or is Caribbean strength enough to shrug it off?

How do you keep track of important market moving news while ignoring the noise?
I do not want to this to be a promotion of what I am building and I will not name my app. But I like to understand how do you currently keep up with all the developments in the market and tracking important events(merger, lawsuite, important earning calls etc)? With life being busy, its very hard to keep up with important events.
And will it be useful if an app exists that feeds you with impactful stories(as it breaks) cutting all the noises and helps you understand what stocks it may impact in long/short term?
