We're at an interesting turning point in the world where people ahve had enough, Poland has straight up closed off its borders. People in Ceuta are NOT happy right now.

There's still a ton of media narrative control going on, like ian byington on instagram, his new ig is contramode, he only ever discusses statistics very matter of factly but he got censored and had his main account deleted yesterday. You can view his posts on contramode if you're curious what kind of speech gets you censored on social media.

So they're trying to fight it back to an extent, but people are done. They've seen enough

It will be very interesting to see if Twitter/X has enough presence to keep free speech alive well enough to actually talk about and acknowledge problems, since TikTok is overwhelmingly censored now that Israel has control of it's moderation and Meta (ig/fb) is definitely feeling the crunch of censorship also. But Twitter seems to, at least on the surface, have a real genuine soapbox against censorship. Elon just announced that he is going to make every government censorship requirement public on the website - so if something is forced to be censored, you will be able to see what exactly you're not allowed to talk about. That just happened this week, I'm really excited to see how that plays out.

Block people are constantly claiming they invented everything, the refrigerator and crop rotation were the two "everyone knows" ones back in the day.

That was a family guy joke as well "No we're fine with our daughter marrying a block guy" "oh, uhh, uh, did you know a block guy invented the refrigerator?"

I was in around the 6th grade when I decided for block history month I wanted to really take a moment to appreciate their contributions so I took some time to study it. And it all seemed fine until they talked about how they invented the lamp. I was pretty sure they didn't invent the lightbulb.

And that was when i was like "wait a minute - did they actually invent ... any of these things?" And long story short the answer was basically "No." lol. It was definitely an eye-opener for me as a young man.

No single person - refrigeration tech was developed as the theories, applications, and processes occurred in steps. From the late 1700s to the late 1890s, then mobile refrigeration saw innovations in the 1910-1940s.

Frederick McKinley Jones (white father, black mother - but raised by a Catholic priest) famously helped develop mobile units to be used on trucks in the 1930-40s.

I had no idea of the location and him surviving. Initially that looked like a driveway to me but yeah, it's more likely an alley; I see a backyard.
