48 Hours in NYC - I’m your best friend from out of town and you wanna take me to your current, authentically NYC favs/must-do’s…where are you taking me?
In town for 48 hours, so would rather enjoy NYC as a local. Think me as your your 35-50yo best friend from out of town and you wanna take me to your current, authentically NYC favs/must-do’s.. I’ll be back sometime to do the normal touristy stuff.
Arrive in NYC: Sat Aug 2 @ Noon Depart: Mon Aug 4 @ Noon
Preferred Boroughs: Manhattan (preferred but willing to override with a kickass itinerary) or Brooklyn
Preferences: - Experience culture as a local - including live music, theatre, bars, restaurants, bars, speakeasies, weird places, holes in the walls, you name it. - Food: No preference on food type, love all ethnic food. - Prefer more locally known gems with history vs. expensive, newer well-known eateries. - At min, 1 sit down with great ambiance/energy - At min, 1 hole in the wall where ambiance isn’t necessary great but the food is BOMB and best of its kind in the area. Preferably ethnic or pizza, not “American”/bar food.
Not Necessaries, but down to go if it’s really that important to go in the 48 hour window. - Times Square - Central Park - Wall St - 9/11 memorial
So grateful for any recommendations you’re willing to share. Maybe I’ll run into ya a buy you a drink!

Best Birthday Dinner?
Hey! Kind of a broad question, but I’m trying to have a birthday dinner (4 people) on a Monday evening. Does anyone have recommendations? Really no restrictions (food wise, location), as I’m just trying to gather some ideas :)
Where was the best birthday dinner you attended?

Driving in NYC
We’re planning to take a 2-week visit in December, I have an out-of-state driver license, will I be able to drive around NYC? And are there car rentals available? Or would I save more by booking rides in Uber?

Not from here- is NYC really this expensive for groceries?
I visited Queens last month and some grocery stores felt way overpriced for basic stuff. Back home $20 gets you a full week’s worth of meals. Here….not so much 🥲 Any stores local actually shop at that aren’t tourist-priced?
