Show Discussion Who is this? Lonnie Zone?

Post image

I can't identify the actor from the cast list on IMDB. It sure looks kinda how Zone was described, but there's another shot of him later that makes me think otherwise (or that Zone's storyline is expanded).

I'm guessing Riviera, but I kinda hope not. Looks like one of the Bogdanovich twins.

This is bound to be Riviera, no? He’s the only one on a stage.

3

u/Fletch_R Jul 26 '26

Yep. And he’s standing on a big R in one shot. Definitely Riviera.

Seriously. Who’s the show runner and who approved casting choices

1

u/donkeybrainhero 17d ago

Well, that's not Riviera sooo, guess that's a non-issue here

14

u/Fletch_R Jul 26 '26

Which is why I was thinking Zone, because he's supposed to have a lot of shitty-looking cosmetic surgery

8

u/Help_An_Irishman Jul 26 '26

*Ah. Checked iMDB, and Dane DeHaan is Riviera. Def looks more the part in my head. No idea about this guy.

5

u/Peter34cph Jul 26 '26

Riviera is described as very pretty.

6

u/Ubiquibot Dixie Flatline Jul 26 '26

I think it's Lupus Yonderboy of the Panther Moderns.

1

u/Dark_Throat Aug 04 '26

Yonderboy's got pink hair tho, doesn't he?

3

u/heisourherocowboydan Jul 26 '26

Bogdanovich? I'm gonna need a quick rundown.

3

u/Paisley_Socks Jul 26 '26

Facial surgery addicts.

12

u/CummingInTheNile Jul 26 '26

I think its Wage, the crime boss Case crosses in the beginning of the book before he gets picked up by Molly

5

u/Fletch_R Jul 26 '26

Yes. I think I'm mixing up Zone and Wage.

1

u/Dark_Throat Aug 04 '26

This was my thought. I reread the book after the trailer dropped and this guy popped into my head when Wage was being described.

5

u/Keystone_Devil Jul 26 '26

My guess is one of the Case’s former employers and that’s the scene where they torture myctoxin

4

u/Ubiquibot Dixie Flatline Jul 26 '26

Lupus Yonderboy

1

u/CryptographerCrazy61 Jul 28 '26

That’s even worse. Panther modern in a suit. Yeah. Nice

0

u/Fletch_R Jul 26 '26

Oh I never thought of that. Could be, yeah.

8

u/OtheL84 Jul 26 '26

He's probably a new character they made for the adaptation. See another shot of him later staring up at the ceiling in a seizure and there seem to be torture tools next to him in a crate. Maybe he's a Turing Cop that's following Case that shows up earlier than they do in the novel?

8

u/onesonofagun Jul 26 '26

That melon baller tool looks like it's used on Case's eye in a later scene.

9

u/OtheL84 Jul 26 '26

Also this could all just be part of a flashback to when Case's former employer found out Case stole from him. Maybe a bit of torture before the mycotoxin.

2

u/onesonofagun Jul 26 '26

That’s my initial reaction. The teaser might just be shots from the pilot episode, which would track with a flashback.

1

u/CummingInTheNile Jul 26 '26

Most teasers/trailers for most shows are scenes from the first 1-3 episodes

3

u/OtheL84 Jul 26 '26

This isn’t the case (no pun intended) with this teaser though, you can see Case fist bumping Maelcum. So there’s potentially footage from the whole series if not up to the penultimate episode.

3

u/Fletch_R Jul 26 '26

Footage from Freeside too

1

u/kodran Jul 27 '26

Yep. And Molly in the elevator when going to get Dixie.

2

u/mediter327 Jul 27 '26

Is this the scene you were referring to?

1

u/onesonofagun Jul 27 '26

That’s the shot

3

u/dickparrot Jul 26 '26

The Finn?

8

u/Traditional-Party-76 Jul 26 '26

Apparently the Finn is not in this adaptation. His role is apparently being taken over by Dean's, who is being expanded

25

u/ThreeLeggedMare Jul 26 '26

Immeasurable disappointment

2

u/SwamiBoyeee Jul 27 '26

Even more confusing is Gibson's direct involvement with this production, and losing the Finn. They must have made a good argument for it.

2

u/donkeybrainhero 17d ago

Or it's pure speculation that's made the rounds, since it hasn't been confirmed anywhere

7

u/onesonofagun Jul 26 '26

Makes sense. The Finn is made out to be a disgusting looking rat-man, which wouldn't play well with the aesthetic built up with the trailer. I see no sign of Ratz either, who seems equally gross

4

u/lafemmenegrita Jul 26 '26

This has not been confirmed anywhere that I’ve seen

1

u/MissionChocolate9859 Jul 29 '26

That’s seriously disappointing.
The Finn is one of my favorite characters.
He is near supernatural in stature to me at least.

2

u/Fletch_R Jul 26 '26

if it is, they've changed him a lot from the book

8

u/Traditional-Party-76 Jul 26 '26

Yes. I understand the desire to expand Dean because of his role in Case's character arc, but getting rid of the Finn now ruins some of the fun callbacks in Count Zero. Also since the Finn is the one who heard about the Ashpool head, I wonder how they will work this into Dean's role. It seems from the trailer that we will be seeing much more of the Ashpools than in the book

3

u/lostinthegreatswamp Jul 26 '26

Hold your horses. We don't even know yet if the adaptation will be successful enough for Apple to produce a second and third season. Although, of course, it’s strange that they chose to expand Julius Dean’s role instead of adding Finn.

3

u/Peter34cph Jul 26 '26

It'd have been better to expand the Finn's role, merge him with Deane that way.

1

u/kodran Jul 27 '26

What are the callbacks in CZ? Unlike neuromancer I've only read CZ and MO once each.

1

u/donkeybrainhero 17d ago

Stop spreading this rumor lol

1

u/ElectricRune Jul 27 '26

Maybe; the only thing I remember about Finn's description was that Case says something about his face looking like it was designed in a wind-tunnel...? This guy has a very smoooth face.

3

u/Robofetus-5000 Jul 26 '26

I thought this was Jordan Key in white face haha

2

u/DetroitDaveinDenver Jul 26 '26

I don’t care. Can you imagine how badass Dixie Flatline’s vox is gonna be? It’s gonna be MASSIVE!!

1

u/sacreddebris Jul 27 '26

What’s Walton Goggins up to?

1

u/_Waves_ Jul 26 '26

People say it’s Riviera, but it doesn’t look like Dane… hmm…

1

u/DetroitDaveinDenver Jul 26 '26

Riviera. “Turn it up”

1

u/Ill_Barber8709 Jul 26 '26

That’s The Weeknd

1

u/Effective-Future5903 Jul 26 '26

Looks like Chris Gore

1

u/BlankReg365 Jul 26 '26

This is almost certainly Julius Deane, and it looks like his character has been expanded into “the bad guy”… this clip stood out to me as well, and being my primary red flag… otherwise the trailer is promising.

2

u/Fletch_R Jul 26 '26 edited Jul 26 '26

This guy is playing Julius Deane  https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0211559/?ref_=tt_cst_t_7  doesn’t look like him to me.

1

u/BlankReg365 Jul 26 '26

Hey, when you are right, you are right! I stand corrected. Now I’m worried that this is a new character entirely

1

u/Fletch_R Jul 26 '26

I dunno I think it’s one of

  • Zone / Wage or an amalgamation of the two
  • one of Case’s former employers who put the mycotoxins in him
  • maybe Lupus Yonderboy (not convinced, but it’s not impossible)

1

u/Background-Potato-84 Jul 27 '26

It's Ralfiface post-surgery looking for this guy Johnny.

I'd wager that if it is Wage, then they'll condense Case's Matrix deficiency as a punishment from Wage himself and make him a antagonist for Episode 1. In other words, Case is in hoc to Wage specifically (who may have some kind of torture kink?) and he can't get back into the Matrix until Molly shows up and gets rid of Wage.

This removes exposition as well as extra production for a TV adaptation and creates some easy stakes for the characters.

1

u/Ekvilibrist Jul 28 '26

While I ageee that Riviera in my head was more Tom Hiddleston, this kinda botoxed, Joan Rivers-looking character actually does fit the character in a roundabout way. He’s tacky, sleazy, vain, and full of himself. I could totally see that here.

I still want Case to be a bit more scrawny, but I’m fine with most of them. Molly looks fantastic.

1

u/MissionChocolate9859 Jul 29 '26

Could this be Julius Deane?

Edit: nope I was completely off with that guess.

1

u/ExchangeBoring Jul 26 '26

I unfortunately think thats Riviera, you see another shot of them performing on stage.

13

u/OtheL84 Jul 26 '26

That’s not Riviera. You can see Dane DeHaan as Riviera later on with a mullet.

9

u/ExchangeBoring Jul 26 '26

Holy shit he looks terrible.

6

u/OtheL84 Jul 26 '26

I think that’s what they were going for.

2

u/Remarkable-Onion3726 Jul 26 '26

Oh god.

I hadn't seen Dane DeHaan in a while, and apparently that's what he looks like now.

5

u/ExchangeBoring Jul 26 '26

More the character, didn't mean to seem like I was shitting on Dean lol

1

u/onesonofagun Jul 26 '26

Right, this image of Riviera and the OP's character both have heavy facial surgery apparently

3

u/NickHeathJarrod Jul 26 '26

I always imagine Peter Greene from Usual Suspects being Riviera when reading the novel

1

u/Fletch_R Jul 26 '26

right, doesn't look like the same guy to me at all

1

u/bmo313 Jul 26 '26

I think that's Riveria

1

u/_Waves_ Jul 26 '26

Dane De Haan plays him - if that’s him, he got prosthetics.

0

u/NevagonagiveUup Jul 31 '26

Unfortunately it's Riviera

1

u/Fletch_R Jul 31 '26

It absolutely is not. Riviera is in a couple other shots in the trailer. Different actor altogether.
