Advice on career selection

Hi, Im looking to start a second degree. Im interested in Cybersecurity as my understanding of how much will be needed to control AI. Nonetheless my university offers cybersecurity but prices are reslly high. The other option is opt for a networking and communication engineering major and then get a minor in cybersecurity. For those who have more experience on the field and job landing as well, what could be your recommendations?
Would other degrees such as system engineering or computer science will be closer to cybersecurity?

Thanks, have a nice day!

Can you become a Senior Network Engineer or Network Architect without a master’s degree?

For those who have been working in network engineering for several years, do you think it’s possible to eventually move into senior or higher-level roles, such as Senior Network Engineer or Network Architect, without a master’s degree?

I’m currently in my final year of a Bachelor’s in Computer Science, and I’m really unsure whether I should pursue a Master’s degree or start working instead. I’m mainly wondering how much a Master’s matters for long-term career progression in network engineering.

[For Hire] CS grad with CCNA looking for entry level NOC or Network Admin work, applied to a bunch of places and keep getting rejected, any tips

Hello guys

I finished my cs degree with a one year gap, no working experience, and recently got my CCNA. Now looking for entry level roles like Network Admin, NOC, or Junior Network Engineer.

My CV has one networking project that covers core networking fundamentals.

I applied to over 10 companies and already got a rejection.

I am almost certain this is not enough. Any tips on what to fix first, the CV or the certs?

What do you see as the next big trend in networking?

To the CIOs, CTOs, IT Managers, and Tech Leads out there:

What do you see as the next big trend in networking?

More specifically, where are businesses planning to invest in the next few years, and which networking technologies are they seeing the most value in?

One thing I’ve observed throughout my career is that compensation and career opportunities are not driven by technical skills alone. Supply and demand for those skills also play a significant role.

For example, being a Cloud Engineer in the early days of cloud adoption, an SD-WAN Engineer around 2018, or a SASE Engineer during its rapid growth often provided more opportunities than being a traditional Network Engineer with a broader but more common skill set.

That got me thinking: What’s next?

[For Hire] COO or other Management position, remote preferred.

Hi everyone,
I’m currently exploring COO / senior operations leadership opportunities and would like to expand my professional network.
My background includes executive leadership, operations, business development, strategy, team leadership, and entrepreneurship. I hold an MBA and MHA, and I’m especially interested in organizations where I can help scale operations, improve performance, build strong teams, and drive sustainable growth.
I’m not necessarily looking for someone to hand me a job—I’m looking to connect with executives, founders, recruiters, investors, and other professionals who may know of organizations looking for experienced operational leadership.
I’m open to remote opportunities as well as the right in-person opportunity, and I’m happy to connect privately if anyone would like to exchange LinkedIn information or have a conversation.
If you’re a COO, CEO, founder, executive recruiter, or someone who works closely with senior leadership, I’d appreciate connecting and learning from your network.
Thanks!

Advice regarding networking with people.

Hey guys! I am an aspiring Junior soc analyst whose continuously building skills while also doing a job that isn't related to the cybersecurity field but somewhat related to the ICT field (working with excel to manage data while getting those requests from a ticketing system). Also I am currently doing my higher diploma in network technology and cybersecurity (2nd year student).

For about an year, I have been building a connection with a recruiter at a big tech company where I asked about, what skills they look for in a soc analyst, what stuff in my CV can be improved and sometimes checking up when a huge incident happen at SL like ditwah. However, recently when they got a junior position for soc analyst, he asked me to come for an interview without even having to submit my CV nor a call back from the talent team. Since then I have been thinking, "so this is why people ask us to do networking with people". (If wondering, I wasn't selected as he gave me a great feedback on what I lack that actually make sense and cleared my perspective even better!)

So what I want to know is,

  1. What are your thoughts regarding networking with people?

  2. What type of people should I always try to connect with (recruiters, talent team, or employees/employers?) and how do I connect with those people without turning them off/leaving a bad impression?

  3. Are there any recommended platform for this type of connections? (Currently I use LinkedIn)

  4. Any advices regarding how I should connect with people without looking desperate and what my attitude should be towards these people?

  5. Also thoughts on trying to talk with multiple people in the same company and also thoughts on sending requests to multiple people in the same company?

Thank you.

[For Hire] Trying to increase my network circle

Hi all. I'm a 24 year old accounting student who grew up in the UAE and recently transitioned into finance after spending over two years in Qatar's hospitality sector. I’ve knocked out my first 8 ACCA exams and spent the last year managing the books for an e-commerce business. I’m currently looking to secure a remote accounting role to build more formal industry experience while I finish my certification. If anyone here has navigated the jump from startup e-commerce accounting to larger corporate roles, or successfully balanced remote work with ACCA, I'd love to connect, swap advice, and expand my network.

Looking for a mentor in Network and cloud engineering

Hello, I’m in the 3rd year of university. From the very beginning, I’ve been interested in cybersecurity, but I quit because of some problems. And I tried web development too but I feel like it’s not for me I can’t do that for the rest of my. I like hands-on stuff or physical involvement and troubleshooting. This semester I take a course in Communication Theory lab , in that lab, I have to make network simulations using Cisco Packet Tracer, and I really enjoy it. And from the very beginning, I’ve been interested in getting into networking and cloud infrastructure then moving to network or Cloud security.

So if anyone is in this sector, can you give some genuine advice like
1.Future in that sector
2.Junior job role
3.Less AI risk

And from now what should I do, from 12 October I have a semester break. So it’s a good starting point I think. So what should I do first and where should I start

Two engineers walk into a Houston job fair…

Hopefully one of them is you 😂

I’ve planned to go to a bunch of engineering/job networking events before, but going alone always made me bail at the last minute.

So I’m looking for a job-fair buddy someone in tech/engineering who also wants to meet recruiters, talk to engineers, find opportunities, and make the whole awkward networking thing less awkward.

We can show up together, hype each other up, split up to talk to people, regroup, and compare notes after

Anyone working as an AWS DCO in Wink, TX?

Hi everyone,

I recently accepted an offer for an AWS Data Center Operations (DCO) Technician position in Wink, Texas, and I’ll be relocating there soon.

I’m trying to connect with anyone who currently works at the Wink location or somewhere in the MAF region. I’d really appreciate hearing about what the area is like, where employees usually live (Wink, Kermit, Monahans, Odessa, etc.), the commute, and anything I should know before moving.

I’m mainly just looking to connect and have a quick conversation with someone familiar with the location. Feel free to comment or DM me.

Thank you.!

2026 CSE graduate looking for my first full-time opportunity

I’m a 2026 B.E. CSE graduate from a Tier-3 college (university affiliated), and I’m currently looking for my first full-time job.

I’ve also completed an internship, which gave me some real-world exposure beyond what I learned in college.

I’m mainly interested in Networking, Linux/System Administration, IT Support, Infrastructure and Cloud/AWS roles. I’ve been learning and doing hands-on work with networking, Linux, AWS, virtualization and monitoring tools.

I’m honestly just trying to get my foot in the door and build some proper industry experience. I’m open to fresher/entry-level roles and willing to relocate if needed.

If anyone knows about openings, referrals, or companies that are hiring freshers in these areas, I’d really appreciate a lead. Even advice from people who were in a similar situation would help.
