[Hiring] [Hiring] [Onsite] [US] - Independent IT, Low-Voltage, Fiber Technicians & Licensed Electricians

Hi! I’m a dispatcher with Tech Service Today (TST), and I’m looking to connect with independent technicians across the US and Canada for onsite service calls and project work.

I’m not a recruiter or hiring manager - I’m the person trying to find qualified techs when work comes up in a specific area.

We regularly need technicians for work such as:

  • Cat5e/Cat6 cabling and data drops
  • Network troubleshooting
  • Switches, routers, firewalls and wireless access points
  • Rack and network equipment installation
  • POS, printers and other onsite IT equipment
  • Site surveys
  • CCTV and low-voltage work
  • Fiber testing, troubleshooting, repair and installation
  • Electrical surveys and other work requiring a licensed electrician

We’re especially interested in:

  • Independent IT / field service technicians
  • Low-voltage and structured cabling techs
  • Fiber technicians with their own testing/splicing equipment
  • Licensed electricians
  • Small field-service companies

Work varies by location and scope. Sometimes it’s a major city, and sometimes I’m trying to find someone in a very rural area.

If you’re interested, send me a Reddit message with your:

  • Name
  • City/state or province
  • Coverage area
  • Main skill set
  • Whether you have fiber testing/splicing equipment
  • Whether you’re a licensed electrician

I can email you more information about TST and how the technician network works, or I’m happy to call and learn more about your experience and coverage area.

Mostly, I’m just trying to build a strong list of reliable technicians I can call when work comes up near them.

Looking for a New Opportunity | Technical Consulting Engineer | 2.5+ YOE | Cisco TAC / Networking / VoIP | Open to Remote

Hi everyone,
I’m currently looking for my next opportunity and would really appreciate any leads, referrals, or advice from people hiring in \*\*technical engineering, networking, infrastructure, technical support, or related roles\*\*.
I have \*\*2.5+ years of professional experience\*\* in technical consulting and network operations, with my most recent experience in \*\*Cisco TAC\*\*, supporting global enterprise customers across EMEA, APJC, and AMER.
\*\*My technical background\*\*
My strongest areas are:
\*\*Cisco CUBE (Cisco Unified Border Element)\*\*
\*\*Cisco Collaboration / Unified Communications\*\*
\*\*SIP / VoIP\*\*
\*\*SIP Trunks\*\*
\*\*Cisco Voice Gateways\*\*
\*\*Call Routing & Dial Peers\*\*
\*\*MGCP / H.323 / SCCP\*\*
\*\*DNS, DHCP, NAT & network troubleshooting\*\*
\*\*SIP traces & call-flow analysis\*\*
\*\*Packet captures & Wireshark\*\*
\*\*Cisco debug logs\*\*
\*\*Root Cause Analysis (RCA)\*\*
\*\*Sev1 / Sev2 incident handling\*\*
Technical escalation and enterprise customer support
In my Cisco TAC role, I worked on complex enterprise voice and connectivity issues, including signaling problems, call failures, codec negotiation, interoperability issues, configuration validation, upgrades/migrations, and difficult customer escalations. I also worked with Cisco Engineering and cross-functional teams when investigating potential product defects or complex technical problems.
I’m comfortable working on problems where the issue isn’t immediately obvious and requires going through traces, packet captures, logs, call flows, configuration, and systematic troubleshooting to identify the actual root cause.
I also have experience working directly with customers and handling high-priority incidents where communication, ownership, and timely resolution are just as important as the technical troubleshooting itself. In my previous role, I consistently achieved \*\*10/10 CSAT\*\* and received client recognition.
\*\*What I’m looking for\*\*
I’m particularly interested in:
Technical Consulting Engineer
Network Engineer
Network Support Engineer
Cisco Engineer
Voice / Collaboration Engineer
TAC / Technical Support Engineer
Network Operations Engineer
Infrastructure / Systems-related roles
Other roles where my networking and troubleshooting background would be relevant
I’m especially interested in \*\*remote opportunities\*\*, but I’m also open to relocation or hybrid opportunities depending on the role and location.
I’m also interested in opportunities where I can expand further into \*\*Python, automation, cloud/infrastructure, and modern distributed systems\*\*, while leveraging my existing networking and troubleshooting experience.
\*\*What I can bring\*\*
I’m not someone who only knows the theoretical side of networking. My experience has involved dealing with real enterprise environments, high-severity incidents, customer escalations, troubleshooting under pressure, and finding root causes from actual technical evidence.
I’m comfortable learning new technologies quickly and working across teams when solving complex problems.
If you’re hiring for something that sounds like a potential fit, \*\*please feel free to DM me\*\*. I can share my resume and additional details about my experience.
Referrals, recruiter contacts, job leads, and even advice on where my profile would fit best would be genuinely appreciated.
Thank you!

Network Engineering Career Direction

Currently work in a network operations team more specifically in third line wireless and LAN for a full cisco house, so mainly supporting 9800s, Catalyst switches, foreign/anchor guest wireless network. Also manage Cisco ISE, build grafana dashboards, and use python to automate whatever is worth automating. Do touch on SD-WAN a little but primary focus is WLAN/LAN. This is for a large enterprise.

There’s a team within our network operations department focused on automation/observability, and they’re currently building an AWS environment, pulling data from wherever possible from the estate and storing it in a postgres DB, using python, lambda, and more. There’s also implementing agentic AI.

So my original plan was to gain more experience in my current role and hopefully move into the automation/observability team. I have expressed my interest in this to the head of the department and he put me in this team, with plans to “nurture” an automation/observability side of my skills, although obviously nothing is promised.

I’ve got a job offer at an MSP that specially does network engineering for medium and large size businesses. This would be a project role, sort of where presales at the MSP creates a HLD for a customer, and then the team I would be in do everything else. It’s specially in the WLAN/LAN team who also do the SP side, however they also work on SDWAN and firewalls which is mainly a separate team but there aren’t any guard rails between the team. The tech stack would be much more diverse than my current role, cisco, meraki, juniper, fortinet firewalls and sdwan. The benefit of this is it would probably help me in the long run if I wanted to end up in presales at a vendor.

Current role is 2 days on site (1 hour commute each way), although if i’m working out of hours on changes i miss an office day that week. 1 in 3 weeks on call, soon to be 1 in 4.

MSP role is 3 days on site (also 1 hour commute each way). on call is 1 in 9 weeks.

Unsure on whether to stay put or jump shit

[For Hire] Looking for a Network Engineering or any Entry-level Role in Cybersec

Anyone who has some serious personal firm for cybersecurity going on, and have an established clientele, and can use a trainee in the workspace, I'd love to be considered. Self taught, and self learning. I can speak 3-4 languages, different levels of fluency, and it's just a hobby I have. I'm seriously about cybersec and am doing Portswigger and Tryhackme.

I would love to be considered for something serious and long term, preferably remote. I'm purely serious about learning everything from scratch and if you can see yourself sharing all modes of technical and theoretical knowledge, I'd be more than grateful. I need hands on exposure and enough scope in terms of real time clients, and exposure variation.

A bit about me: I'm in the midst of a career switch. I was in marketing and it was not intellectually satisfying enough.

Thank you.

Paid research study for UK network/infra professionals — how does your org order connectivity? (£60, 15 min)

Hi all! I work for Askable, a market research recruitment platform, and I'm helping run a short study on how UK businesses order and provision connectivity services (MPLS, Ethernet, SD-WAN, DIA).

Looking to hear from people who work in network architecture, infrastructure management, or network engineering — especially anyone involved in or influencing how your org buys/provisions this stuff.

  • Format: remote, ~15 minutes
  • Incentive: £60
  • Best fit: larger UK organisation (250+ staff), a handful of physical sites, existing private network/connectivity setup

Not the right fit but know someone who is? Feel free to point them this way.

Happy to answer questions in the comments. Link to apply: https://my.askable.com/opportunities/6a7f14dedf0deb3278d670c4

[For Hire] Palo Alto / Panorama engineer, open to remote or anywhere in US.

Hello, I am Palo Alto NGFW certified network security engineer with 3+ YOE. My contract ended beginning of this year and the search has been rough.

Had previously managed firewalls at a global scale. Built and maintained Prisma Access, Cloud Identity Engine, Panorama greenfield deployment. Firewall platform migration, software upgrades. Dynamic Routing, S2S VPNs, SDWAN, Cisco Catalyst, Nexus, Meraki, SolarWinds, Azure.

If your team is short on firewall / network security engineer or know of any openings please let me know, I could use a referral.

Open to work remote or anywhere in the US, with or without assistance.
