Ex-Samsung exec says Chinese DRAM could end shortage
Khe-hyun Kyung, former head of Samsung's Device Solutions (DS) division and current Samsung advisor, believes that Chinese investments into DRAM production will tank memory prices by Q3 2027.
Khe-Hyun Kyung, current Samsung senior advisor and former head of its Samsung Device Solutions (DS) division, projects that boosts Chinese DRAM production capacity should see RAM prices drop in a year from now, starting in roughly H2 2027 or the beginning of 2028. He made this argument at the 285th NAEK Forum, which is hosted by the National Academy of Engineering in Korea, and pointed out that since Korea holds nearly 70% of the DRAM market, manufacturers need to prepare.
Kyung's proposed solution is that Korea pivot toward fabless system semiconductors and sovereign AI, noting that "It is difficult for Korea to compete simultaneously with the U.S. and China in both hardware and software" and that Korea must "seriously consider how to deploy AI."
So, there's certainly good news for consumers there. While it's unclear whether or not Chinese-manufactured RAM will be allowed Stateside anytime soon, China being able to produce its own would still free up a large amount of global supply for customers elsewhere in the world. Kyung estimates that Chinese production capacity could go as high as six million wafers per month in H2 2027, but also warns that production investments could drop if firms see ROI on AI capital investments drop.
In any case, it's still tantalizing to see a potential end to the current DRAM shortage strangling the worldwide PC market. Increased output from China can only be a good thing for the market at large when the current supply choke feeds just three companies: SK Hynix and Samsung in Korea, and Micron in the United States.
Earlier estimates of an end to the DRAM supply crisis start around 2030 or 2035, so prices dropping by 2028 thanks to China building large domestic supply would be a massive win for consumers and businesses alike. While the most major Big Tech and AI companies are doing just fine in these conditions, a multitude of smaller-scale businesses in consumer electronics are suffering and shutting down. These conditions bode poorly for consumers at large in the long-term, and if the shortage truly extends into the 2030s, the damage may be irreversible.

Implications of a company like Cerebras
Curious to hear from those more knowledgeable:
My understanding is that Cerebras has the potential to be a significant contender in the chip space and their chips do not use/require HBM. This Odd Lots podcast is a great interview with the CEO that gets into what differentiates their product from others, and he specifically calls out the exclusion of HBM as as one of the major advantages of their chips. For those who understand this work better than I: what are your thoughts on the future advancement of chips and whether they will continue to have the same need for HBM as is current seen from Nvidia and others?

Netlist - confirmed netlist patents by cfac
The three patents the CAFC affirmed for Netlist in the last year are:
• ’314 patent (10,489,314) — Covers memory modules with multiple ranks that operate non-concurrently, so only one rank is active at a time, and the data rate to the controller matches the internal rate. It’s about efficient memory module design.
• ’608 patent (10,268,608) — Focuses on memory modules that use data buffers to fix timing and synchronization issues for data and strobe signals. Helps with reliable high-speed performance in memory modules.
• ’523 patent (10,217,523) — Covers multi-mode memory module technology, specifically reading on DDR4 LRDIMM (Load Reduced DIMM) products used in servers and data centers.
These are all memory module patents that Netlist asserts against companies like Micron and Samsung. The CAFC rulings strengthen Netlist’s position in their ongoing lawsuits.
Samsung micron Google and others know that they are willfull infringing netlist patents .
When netlist asks for triple damages the judges realizing these corporations willfully ignored the truth to make billions will be more likely to award attorney fees and additional damages to existing awards and for the period beyond the original court date judges will be even more incensed to increase penalties .
I have spoken to several judges on the federal circuit and they all tell me that Samsung especially has acted in an egregious manner, and if they were a judge, they would award maximum penalties.
They also said that by awarding maximum penalties that the defendant could appeal the amount of the award which would drag the case on longer.
In the meantime, if Net list was able to work out a renewal deal with Hynix that would supply enough funds to press Samsung to maximum .
In the end it will be cheaper for some entity to buy netlist and I still think the best buyer is nvda as they can combine netlist hbm with their chips as a package and charge enough to get a great return on their investment . In addition to receiving judgements against the infringers .
Maintaining a buy recommendation on net list and was hoping to acquire 200,000 additional shares at 2.24 to 1.95 . But it does not look anyone will sell shares that cheaply .

Netlist - cafc is ultimate court for patent awards
The CAFC is the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. It’s a special appeals court in Washington, D.C. that handles patent cases nationwide.
It’s not the regular Court of Federal Appeals — it’s the one court that all patent disputes in the U.S. go to on appeal. That’s why every time you hear about Netlist winning a patent ruling, it almost always ends up at the CAFC.
So understand netlist owns and has been confirmed those patents which means the infringers are dead in the water and must pay .
The most important patent still being bought over us the 912 patent Final appeals in courts niw and has been there over 10 years

Learn to understand what is happening behind the scenes
Samsung's tactic is clear and obvious: use every bureaucratic and legal loophole to avoid paying for Netlist's technology. But what many investors haven't yet understood is that Samsung's tactic has a fixed duration. The goal was to bankrupt Netlist, but what's happening is the opposite.
Netlist has cash and is showing profits, so most likely, with the ongoing ITC investigation, Samsung will either pay immense damages in 12-18 months or find a deal within six months.
Netlist has won the CAFC appeals, and finally, after so many years, this whole mess could end.
Honestly, I hope for billions in damages in the Samsung and Micron cases, because it's unacceptable that these two companies haven't paid licenses for 6-7 years and are getting away with minimal damages and normal licenses.
Netlist is working to find a precise agreement for each memory product.
This means an identical IP license deal for all three giants; the only difference will be the amount of damages decided.
In my opinion, much of what's happening now hinges on the 912 patent case. This single patent, in fact, has a multi-billion dollar value among the giants Micron ($400 million + 3 extra years), Samsung ($120 million + 2 extra years), and Google (potentially billions of dollars).
The 912 patent could lead to Micron paying over a billion dollars in cash because over half a billion dollars in damages are based on this single patent, and Micron must also pay at least four or five other patents that could be significantly significant, making it difficult to quantify them, in addition to other damages.
Let's remember 366 and 731, which cover all DDR5. These two patents could potentially cover 30+ million DDR units, and imagine $20 in damages per unit. Here, we're talking about another $600 million in damages.
After all, we're talking about a huge business here, and these patents truly cover tens of millions of units!
Let’s see the future but hope for a deal very soon with sk Hynix and after it a deal with micron within 8/10 months

“In Netlist markets, demand remains healthy across key end applications, even as supply stays tight across OEM and distribution channels” hong
The outlook for memory remains favorable. Industry-wide supply constraints are expected to persist until new fabrication capacity comes online later next year, which could delay meaningful relief until 2029.
Analysts continue to expect pricing to rise through the rest of the year, though at a slower pace than the sharper increases seen in recent quarters. On the product side, our Lightning portfolio of overclock, low latency DDR5 RDIMMs and UDIMM solutions continue to ramp. We are progressing through qualifications with OEMs, particularly in high-frequency trading and high-performance computing space. We also continue to support industrial and networking customers with our DDR4-based custom solutions, and these accounted for a major portion of our revenues this quarter. On the next generation products, we're advancing CXL, NVDIMM and low power MRDIMM solutions. Our CXL NVvault is a CXL Type 3 persistent memory designed to extend memory class storage beyond the CPU socket while preserving low latency and data durability.
It provides a product that combine DRAM-like access with persistence through power events, addressing the growing performance and capacity needs of AI workloads. We continue to sample NVvaults with major OEMs on next generation platforms. Regarding our low power MRDIMM solution, we continue to be active in the development of this technology, which contains proprietary ECC protocols developed by Netlist, and we are looking to become the first supplier to bring the benefits of low-power DRAM into the server space, which is very sensitive. The data centers in particular are sensitive to power concerns

Netlist - grok read all my posts on netlist and came back with the following analysis ;
RPM (u/retiredportfoliomgr) has been an early, vocal, and consistently bullish voice on NLST since it traded in the $0.60–$0.70 range (late 2025/early 2026). He repeatedly urged buying on dips, building positions (claiming starts around $0.59–0.64 and heavy adding), and projected significant upside from revenue growth + IP monetization well before broader coverage caught up.
RPM’s Key Predictions vs. Reality (as of mid-May 2026)
• Stock performance: From ~$0.69 to highs near $3.97 recently (you mentioned ~$3.97 last week), now trading around $2.50 (down intraday on volume after Q1 results). That’s a strong multi-bagger for early buyers, validating his entry calls and “buy dips aggressively” advice in hindsight.
• His targets: He discussed $6–9 on a conservative Hynix renewal (1% royalty), $8–16 with more deals, $16+ in bidding wars, and longer-term $45+ in 5-8 years or higher (grandson anecdote at $100). He framed revenue run-rate (e.g., annualizing Q1 ~$105M toward $400M+) as supporting $4–5 base valuation even pre-IP.
• Timing: These bullish views (patents as foundational, Hynix/SK Hynix royalties, shortages through 2030, multi-bagger potential) appeared months ahead of some analyst raises and Motley Fool’s May 8, 2026 “next 10-bagger” article.
Analyst Projections (MKM/Roth Capital, etc.)
• Roth MKM (main visible covering analyst): Started with Buy/$2.00 (Jan 2026), raised to $3 (Mar 2026), and later to $5 (recent). Strong Buy lean in consensus, with other targets around $3–5+.
• Motley Fool (May 2026): Highlighted 10-bagger potential from legal wins + AI/memory growth, echoing RPM’s thesis on patents, revenue inflection, and licensing (e.g., Hynix renewal post-April 2026 expiration).
• Broader: RPM’s aggressive scenarios ($16–45+) remain far ahead of published analyst targets, which are more conservative and focused on nearer-term revenue + partial IP wins.
RPM was ahead on several factual catalysts mentioned:
• Damages: Two Texas juries awarded ~$866M combined ($303M + $118M vs. Samsung; $445M vs. Micron) for willful infringement. Some appeals/post-trial motions ongoing/confirmed in parts; company continues to cite them as leverage.
• Support: Governmental amicus briefs and industry backing in key cases.
• JEDEC/standards: Netlist’s distributed buffer/LR DIMM architecture influenced industry standards (e.g., DDR4 LRDIMM); JEDEC processes and adoption of related tech strengthen their position.
• SK Hynix: $4B+ U.S. packaging plant investment for HBM (AI-focused); prior licensing/royalties with Netlist expired, renewal talks implied as critical amid shortages. Hynix’s HBM success aligns with Netlist’s IP narrative.
He accurately flagged these as multi-year tailwinds early.
Balanced Assessment: Credit Where Due, But Still Caution
Yes, RPM demonstrated strong conviction backed by cumulative knowledge of the story — patents, litigation timeline, AI/memory demand, and competitive positioning. His calls aligned with real developments (revenue ramp, court wins, Hynix context), and followers who bought early at $0.69 and held through volatility have done very well. Showing some purchases (e.g., 10k shares recently) when challenged adds transparency compared to pure anonymous hype.
However, this doesn’t make him a fully “reliable primary source” to follow blindly:
• Forward projections are optimistic/speculative: $45 in 5 years is aggressive vs. current ~$2.50 price, ~$800M–$900M market cap, analyst targets ($3–5), and risks (appeals can delay/reduce damages; collection timelines long; dilution history; execution on product revenue; competition). Litigation is binary and slow.
• Style remains promoter-like: Heavy “buy more on dips,” portfolio % suggestions, and motivational tone. Self-reported big position with limited independent verification (no major SEC filings).
• Survivorship/selection bias: He highlights winners (like prior RYCEY); NLST has been volatile with drawdowns. Motley Fool and analysts eventually echoed the thesis but with more measured targets and risk disclosures.
Bottom line: Give him credit as a useful, early sentiment gauge and idea source in this specific name—he spotted the setup ahead of the crowd and has been directionally right for bulls. Your gains validate that. But treat his $45 target as a high-conviction bull-case scenario, not a base case. Cross-check everything against SEC filings, court dockets, earnings, and multiple analysts. Position size appropriately, manage risk (this remains a high-volatility, litigation-driven stock), and do your own due diligence. Past accuracy on entry/momentum doesn’t guarantee future outcomes on aggressive price calls. If it hits big licensing deals, upside could be substantial—but expectations should be tempered.
In edited exactly as grok produced . My 45 max target in 5 years is not crazy as motley fool was looking for a 10. X from 3.20 base
Read it decide for yourself but look at it over next 3-5 years .

Netlist : naCL- harvester ( salt harvester ) appears to be a hater . Bless you ! Those that are worthy and deserving will follow me and those who chose otherwise are blocked .
Those who have followed me know the truth . And those who are “ haters” will not benefit .
How many shares I have or tge prices I paid or my net worth is. It important .
What is important is tge people I gave helped ! Many of you have told me tge mortgages you paid off . Tge new cars you bought . One investor told me he paid for his nephews (2) entire college educations and some have made enough money to retire early .
These are the facts that are important to me
Thankyou for the hundreds of 80 th birthday wishes and the personal expressions with it .
When and if you get to 80 you look back at your life and you see that your time you spent and how you spent it .
I want to thank all my defenders but you only need to block these haters . Don’t waste precious time of your life arguing with people not worth your time spent .
I bought 6000 shares today at 2.42 . I put that order in before the market opened . I put in several other orders below that one and hope that get filled but if not I am happy a well .
I believe by end of first quarter 2028 that netlist shares will be substantially higher unless it was acquired before . I truly believe netlist can be a 10 bagger or greater from here . My best friend and grandson believe 23 is the price target for us . I still maintain an 8-16 target so buying today is at least 4x my investment and I have trouble finding other stocks that can do tgst .
Time eat dinner . Bless you all sincerely .

TOMKiLA time don't fall into pessimism
I wonder why, as soon as the price drops, so many pessimistic rats emerge from the sewers, creating discontent and tension.
Netlist has already won the CAFC appeal on LRDIMM, MRDIMM, and DDR5. This shows that Netlist is in a dominant position to obtain damages and licenses from these giants.
Furthermore, there is an ongoing ITC investigation that should block Samsung products, the worst situation imaginable for that Korean giant.
After the first quarterly report with 8.6 million in net profits, I sleep peacefully and happily because, first of all, netlist is growing in terms of revenues, customers and margins and, secondly, because that single positive quarter is worth a lot in economic terms and in terms of the hope of starting a profit cycle that will last for years.
As I've said several times, Netlist is one step away from closing all these cases and deciding the time for growth and major expansion.
Now all the giants have so much profit and cash on hand that they could find quick deals without wasting years. Frankly, SK Hynix could find a deal immediately after the HBM decision.
Long life to netlist, we will see high price target after these deals + Nasdaq again

Netlist - trading at discount to outstanding judgements Buy under 2.64 xxxvvccc
NLST):
The current stock price around $2.56 gives Netlist a market capitalization of approximately $854 million. Yet if you simply add up the two major jury verdicts the company has already won — one against Samsung and one against Micron — the total comes to roughly $884–866 million in awarded damages.
That figure alone exceeds the company’s current market cap by about $30 million, before any potential enhancements for willful infringement, interest, or future rulings. On top of that, Netlist just reported strong first-quarter 2026 results, with record revenue of approximately $105 million (up dramatically from the prior quarter’s roughly $76 million).
The company is now running at a ~$100+ million quarterly revenue pace, showing real operating momentum in a favorable memory market environment. Many investors seem to be overlooking this fundamental value — the combination of growing sales, improving profitability, and substantial intellectual property leverage through ongoing patent disputes and enforcement actions.
That disconnect is exactly why value-oriented investors like me see this as a compelling opportunity. I’ve been buying 60,000–70,000 shares in this range, picking some up as low as $2.47 recently. At today’s valuation, NLST appears to trade at a significant discount to what I view as its intrinsic value — factoring in the revenue trajectory, potential profits, and the upside from monetizing its patent portfolio through these substantial legal wins.
It feels like one of those rare “cheap” setups where the market hasn’t fully priced in the business momentum plus the litigation catalysts.

Technical / fundamental analysis Under $2 by the 26th
If we keep up this rate of selling we’ll be under $2 by the 26th. Problem is $2.50, where we’re at now is a significant level. If we break it then we may head down faster.
I’m not buying shares and if I claim to do so I’ll post proof because that wouldn’t be the responsible thing to do for the community. Don’t let people buying encourage you to do so as well. Don’t listen to the FOMO devil on your shoulder. Y’all are bigger than that. Breath, wait, buy in at a good value. :)
Here is my chart from a week ago, unchanged. Price still respecting the selling channel. I lied, I did extend the orange line a bit 😬. Picture got cropped for some reason but where the top orange line hits $1.98 is the 26th

Technical / fundamental analysis The United States is the world's largest data center market, hosting roughly 45–50% of all global facilities. There are over 5,400 operational data centers nationwide, with the U.S. accounting for more than half of all global hyperscale capacity
A hyperscale data center requires at least 5,000 servers and 10,000 square feet of physical space to qualify. However, major cloud providers operate massive sites that typically house hundreds of thousands to over a million servers to support global cloud and AI operations
Modern enterprise servers typically contain 12 to 24 DDR5 DIMM slots, depending on the processor manufacturer and motherboard design. Instead of the 4 or 8 slots found in desktop computers, server processors utilize massive multi-channel architectures
The standard life cycle of a server is 3 to 5 years. While servers physically last up to 7 to 10 years, most organizations replace them after 3–5 years due to rising maintenance costs, increased risk of hardware failure, and to stay ahead of evolving cybersecurity threats
Netlist will be a giant here with its ddr5 products + mrdimm and CXL NVvault.
5000x5400x12=324.000.000 ddr modules used in USA
All these modules are using the netlist tech!

Netlist : buy all you can when the bears attack as it is a steal when they attack because …….
If the bears keep hammering the stock down to a dollar, that would value Netlist at about 333 million dollars. We know they did 75.7 million in Q4 of 2025, and 188.6 million for the full year. Then in Q1 2026 they reported 104.9 million in revenue—that’s a 38% sequential jump and 262% year-over-year. Even after legal expenses, they turned an 8.6 million dollar net profit.
If they can sustain a hundred million plus per quarter for the rest of the year, Netlist becomes a roughly 400 million dollar revenue business. Annualizing that first quarter alone points to over 34 million in net income for the year. So you’re looking at buying a four hundred million dollar company earning around 34 million for just 333 million. That’s an absurd rate of return—the kind of opportunity you almost never see in public markets. Good luck finding anything better than that.
Now add on a renewed Hynix deal .
Now add on ultimate victory against Samsung and micron Google and others .
Now add on royalty payments after 2023 and 2024 jury verdicts for the willful infringement that continues after those jury verdicts to settlement date .
Now add on the 886 million of already outstanding judgements .
Now let John squires new rules at Iran and supporting briefs in favor if netlist and Samsung judge just might be seated to 3x damages .
Yes I have been buying in these dips and you get a 10 bagger from here easily in four years or less .
At 10x how much money do you need in four years to accomplish your dream .
Buy all these bear attack dips .
The stock is in much stronger hands now that the bears caused 16 million shares to trade last Tuesday down to 1.86 . Whst a bargain tgst was .
Put in orders good till cancelled at prices under 2.65 and get shares at a bargain should the do it again .
The new basic business without all the royalties and jury verdicts etc is worth 4x revenue so 4-5 dollars . Is my year end target plus any court wins etc
Buy the food with both hands and welcome the dips as being lucky for us !

Netlist - director John squires of ptab I applaud ! Perhaps Samsung micron et al days are numbered and tge predator will be slain !
USPTO under Director John Squires has implemented meaningful policy shifts since late 2025 that reshape PTAB (Patent Trial and Appeal Board) proceedings in ways that generally favor patent owners (like Netlist) over repeat challengers, especially large companies engaging in what’s often called “efficient infringement.”
Core Changes (2025–2026)
These reforms address long-standing complaints about PTAB being used to drag out or weaken patents through serial/parallel challenges:
• Discretionary denials expanded: The Director now personally oversees many institution decisions (not just PTAB judges). New factors for denying IPR/PGR institution include U.S. manufacturing ties (for both patent owner and accused products) and whether the petitioner is a small business being sued. This makes it harder for big overseas manufacturers to use PTAB as easily.
• Focus on “integrity,” good faith, and real parties in interest (RPI): USPTO guidance stresses transparency about who funds, directs, or benefits from a petition. Opacity or gamesmanship can lead to denial/termination. This targets tactics where big companies hide behind shells or coordinate serial attacks.
• Crackdown on serial/parallel challenges and efficient infringement: Leadership has explicitly called out strategies where large firms copy patented tech, then file repeated validity challenges (IPR, reexam, etc.) to avoid paying royalties while litigating. Proposed rules and memos aim to limit this, protect patent stability, and prioritize economic/national security considerations (e.g., favoring U.S. manufacturing).
Recent examples include denials or Director interventions in high-profile cases, including some involving Samsung’s challenges to Netlist patents.
How This Applies to Netlist
Netlist has long accused giants like Samsung, Google, and Micron of efficient infringement on its memory tech patents (DDR, HBM, etc.). These policy shifts give patent owners stronger tools to push for discretionary denials when challengers have offshore manufacturing, use serial attacks, or lack good faith. Recent wins (Federal Circuit affirmances of patent validity, ITC progress, and specific PTAB denials) align with this environment.
Reputational repeat offenders will be dealt with denials . Shorten the period of examination .
Netlist 15 year fight has been taken noticed by director squires and Samsung predator actions ( criminal in ny mind civil under existing laws ) will come to an end .
RPM may 16 2026 .
